Actually, nothing has changed at all. Thats the problem. Reviews for games back in the 1980's and 1990's are the same as they are now. Always a bit inflated, always a bit over-zealous on their praises and rarely, if ever able to convey a sense of why a game is bad. There is literally no difference between a review from 1992 and from 2012, with the only exception being the screenshots and the talk of graphics.

I don't get where people are coming from who are arguing that the game isn't short. I think I even saw one person who said it took 28 hours. I don't know how that's even possible, if I'm doing a speed run I can do it in 8.

Well he is half right. A 5/10 should be the average, but a 7/10 has become the inflated average due to public perception and publisher expectations. Hell, most would argue a 8 is average now, which is even worse...

That needs to change, and the way it changes is by reviewers making it clear that a 5 is average, and the general public enjoying average games, which they already do but don't know it yet.

It's the market process op. Competition among reviewers exposes them to scrutiny and shows what they really are. It isn't that 'once upon a time' everyone was honest, it's just the rarity of reviews gave them a guise of authority. Now that information is more readily available, it makes it easier to question the sources of information.

You're right, it really doesn't deserve a 10/10 or even a 9/10. I'd really give it between a 7-8, leaning toward the 7. I enjoyed playing it, but the fact that it becomes so radically different fr,om its predecessors is a turn off. This isn't to mention that God-awful journal, the overabundance of fetch quests, auto-dialogue, and relative lack of choice.

From a gameplay standpoint, it's incredibly fun and the music is great. It's just that this game is severely lacking in what makes Mass Effect, well, Mass Effect.

You know Maaaze, every time I read anything you say the only thing that comes to mind is Biodr**e. BioWare can do no wrong in your mind, they are the pinnacle of the gaming industry, they s**t gold and p**s silver. I haven't seen anyone called biodr**e in a long time, but you fit the bill perfectly. I honestly can't take anything you say worth a grain of salt. The endings were atrocious by Bioware standards let alone any writer in their right minds standards. If you have to go into that much detail and write freakin essays about how the ending makes any marginal sense then it probably didn't make crap for sense to begin with.

ME3 deserved 7 maybe an 8 out of 10. Thats it. Gears of War did its entire combat system better. And Halo 3 had a far more captivating and awesome ending than ME3. At least I felt like a guddammed badass coming out of that Halo. Mass Effect had / has the characters, the universe, and ,up until the last few minutes, story going for it.

Biodr**e is blanked out is it?

Bias is what opinions are all about.

I don't like brussel sprouts. I'm biased against them. They taste horrible. It's subjective, just like the opinion of on the quality of ME3.

OP is pretty much 100% accurate in his assessment. The game is definitely a solid 7 or 8 out of 10.

Obviously, everyone can have a different opinion... fact is there are people out there (including BSN) with awful taste.

When I hear someone say ME3 is a 10/10, to me that's like saying angry birds is a 10/10 and is the best game ever made. Everyone is entitled to have awful taste in games and no sense. 

People saying ME3 is a 10/10 are the people who wear yellow pants with gren pokodot shirts, who have coffee brown carpet with striped turqoise painted walls, who drive the Nissan cube, who watch "Monk" on TV and think it's a great show etc etc. The Awful taste crowd.

I agree, I would give ME3 a 6/10 as an ending to a series. As a standalone.. No still 6/10.
