Big Fish
Singin' in the Rain
Stranger Than Fiction
Up
Yeah, no traditional romance movies here. Most make me want to gouge out my eyes with a grapefruit spoon.

Since we're apparently not bound by genre conventions, I'm going with Run Lola Run.

OK, I guess all you kids are too cynical for romance <_< but here goes.
The only one in this thread I agree with. Great film.
Singin' in the Rain was great too, but I don't think of it as a romance, for some reason.
I thought Before Sunrise was a good romance when I saw it, not sure if it would still hold up today.
And I thought Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was romantic, in a depressing sort of way...

That.Which part of Up?
It's a romantic film, but doesn't spend it's entirety revolving around that romance. So yes, "fat kid and the dog" do not qualify as a romantic part of the film. More like comedic relief.
I was kidding. XD

why depressing? I thought it has a very hopeful ending for its protagonists, with them being wiser, more patient and wanting to start over, together.
to elswhere in thread - Run lola Run is one of my favorite movies, period.
also - Fifth element.
half the movies in this thread though... personaly not a fan of tragic romance. i can apreciate the stories, if they have something else going for them (like painted veil for instance), but for romances specificaly, I prefer happy beginnings. (supposed to be endings, but in reality its basicaly a beginning of the rest of their lives)
