I've had ME3 since it came out and all of a sudden it won't work
anymore. What happens is it will play though the main titles (EA,
Bioware, etc.) but after it shows the picture of Earth with the sun
behind it, the screen goes black and my whole XBox freezes. I've
tried both discs and they do the same thing- black screen right before
the menu. All of my other games work however, so I don't think it's a
problem with my console, but on the other hand it's BOTH discs of Mass
Effect, so I don't think it's a problem with the disc. Has anyone else
had a problem like this? (and to rule out any scratched-or-dirty ideas, I
keep my games in such good condition that Halo 3, bought back in 2007,
still has that brand new gloss to it and does not have a mark on it).
Thanks for any help, I really don't want to have to buy a whole new
copy.

Welcome to the hell known as the "Black Hole" glitch. BioWare doesn't give a **** about acknowledging it or fixing it (last communication from BioWare was three months ago and the glitch was made known the day after launch) so you're best off doing Resante's home fix which can be found here:

So in other words they're not going to do jack **** about it ever? Sounds like someone owes me money.

Looks like the most I'm going to get is a compensation so I can go spend my 60 bucks on something worthwhile, like another copy of Mass Effect 2, because even though my works fine, two copies of it would be better than a piece of **** that breaks three months after it comes out.

At least you were lucky enough to get three months out of the game before it bit the dust. Some people had it since launch.

THEY were the lucky ones- theirs is still under warranty. I called up EA and demanded a fix. I'm getting something on Tuesday they said, not really sure what, I think they said compensation. What I really want if there's no fix is a new copy completely free and a written guarantee that they'll give me a new one every time I get this glitch again.

Out of curiosity, does buying a new copy change anything, or will a separate copy simply have the same effect if it's happened with my current copy?
