I have very high approvals for most everyone (75+) except Oghren. He's at 56. I've chatted him up as much as I can and am stuck now. Any tips on how to pump that up? I've already finished The Paragon quest and Oghren's personal quest (helped him get together with Farsi). I did side with Caridin(sp?) so I got the -10 from that which didn't help. But I gave him a bunch of gifts (hard booze). Everyone else was fairly easy to pump up but I'm struggling with Oghren and that sucks because I love that guy. There is like a zillion gifts for Morrigan and Leliana but not a whole lot for good ol' Oghren. I even have Shale at 95 and all it took was a bunch of gem gifts and a personal quest and some dialog!

Make him drink all the booze you find(you can always find more in taverns).

He likes beer. Any wine you find is for Wynne, not Oghren. You can find booze for Oghren mostly in taverns, but Dog will fetch a bottle for you (random location) and there's a bottle that's a drop in the Brecilian Forest, I think.

If I remember correctly, if Oghren is at warm before Anvil of the Void, then the hit for offing Branka is not as great. He likes to fight. See to it that he sees action.

Golden scythe 4-90 black, garbolg's backcountry reserve, chasind sack mead, alley king's flagon, legacy white shear, and sun blonde vint-1 all gifts for Oghren. He gave me his quest and called me asschabs and fell over drunk so that was enough Oghren approval for me. I still wonder though, what is asschabs?

The problem is his lack of dialogue in the deep roads, you have to drag him out of there and back to camp to engage in potential approval stimulating conversatioins. Other than that you might want to check out this link; http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Gifts . The bones for dog are free to use(I wonder why they put them in the game at all with his 100% approval when you get him), and then you have the generic gifts as well.

Get him drunk and "let him watch".  Posted Image

Creepiest clip EVER.

Seriously though, the posts above pretty much nailed it.  Ale or beer of any form should do it.

I can't tell if you were kidding or not, but he was saying "asschaps".  As in assless leather pants...he's been around Zevran too much I  think.

I was DAMMED surprised at the -10 approval for siding with Caridan, because Oghren AGREED WITH YOU that Branka was off her rocker. He flat-out told her she was batty when we confronted her (Oghren may be a dirty drunken bastard, but so far he's shown a fairly strong sense of honor). Afterwards he made it clear that we did what needed to be done to her.

That HAS to be a bug. I lost less approval with Morrigan when I threatened her with being turned into a golem when she objected to destroying the Anvil.

You only net -3 approval with Oghren if you side with Caradin and then destroy the anvil, btw, because you get a +7 for helping Caradin. I never had any problems getting his approval up, because I saved all the expensive booze until I met him. He gives you a little side quest to go chat with a former girlfriend (Felsi), and if you help him out there, you can get his approval pretty high with no trouble.

I really do think that Oghren is underdeveloped as a character, though. Alistair, Morrigan and Sten are the most developed, then Wynne, Shale and Leliana, with Zevran, the Dog, and Oghren trailing pretty badly.

My last game I had no disapproval from him when I sided with Caradin. Only got +7. I had him on 60+ already. Maybe it bugged out.

oghren's greatest approval from the quest is when you seek to redeem branka. this is done by siding with branka, then convincing her that the anvil must be destroyed.

oghren doesn't want the anvil to live, but he also wants to give branka a chance to be redeemed.

also, oghren has a really nice character developement point if you bring him with you into the gauntlet.

Having him rescue you from prison gives you +7 as well

edit, forgot to mention not to surrender at howe's with him though, gives -10

The asschabs thing is an inside joke among the writers of the game. I cannot find the post detailing it but it is an acronym for someones chair butt syndrome. Post anvil and personal quest you can get him pretty high in approval through conversation choices. I saved every gift for him and it was only enough for 50's the rest of the way is done through convo or action approvals.

I get the +7 too, after I let Oghren decide what to do after Branka's dead. I don't side with Branka, because I have a fondness for Shale. I always bring her with me to Orzammer. Somehow it just seems right.

Keeping him in booze seems to get his approval high for me. I've never tried the Gauntlet with him, sounds like fun, and I'll do that asap.

I recruited Oghren last and I could only get to around 49 from the few conversations and gifts I saved for him. Everyone else was at 90+, most 100. I did remember calling him a stallion while he was drunk and getting a +4, though. Crept me out. :P

Last game, Ive brought Oghren's loyalty up to 100. Kinda easy to, give him all the drinks except wine, help him be with Felsi and that time Ive sided with Branka.

He was all "moisty eyes" at the battle of Denerim!!

And if you have him with Sten, you get the Qunari's immortal line "Never think I don't see the irony in this" (or WTTE) when he frees you from your cage :D

You can also get approval for accepting Oghren's special stash when he offers it to you, the ensuing short cut-scene is worth more than the approval points.

Oh man, I was going to have a sabbatical after 3 playthroughs, but I miss these two so much I may just start a new game.
