Hey guys after quite some time I decided to give Mass Effect 2 another go. After running around I decided the heavy weapon looked pretty dumb so I searched the interwebs for ways to get rid of it. Low and behold I found several coalesced mods. They all work fine, but the problem is whenver I edit my file with one of them the file simply reverts to its previous state and none of the changes stay. I am sure it has something to do with windows 7, but cannot for the life of me figure out what it is. I've read through many other threads on the topic and so far have tried:
Running the mods as admin
Making sure read only was off of the coalesced file as well as the folders it was in
Running some program that allowed me to "take ownership" of the file
Pulling the file out of the ME folder and attempting to edit it and place it back in.
Anyone who has had a similar problem and figured out a solution I'd like to hear it. And before anyone goes there, I read the other threads and they all devolved into an argument about whether heavy weapons are useless or not. Let me stop you right there. I fully acknowledge that heavy weapons have their uses. I simply do not care. I'm simply looking for a way to change the game in a fashion I like. If you think heavy weapons are essential, I'm happy for you. But that is not the discussion of this thread.

If you are using the mod manager then I believe that everytime you add a new mod it kind of replaces you current ini with a new one which is just the default ini + mod. Meaning that everytime a new mod is added you will have to being modding the ini again. That is if i'm reading your problem right?
On a side not you could use the Gibbed Save game editor for ME2 to give your character ability ti hold all the other weapons. Rifle, shotgun, sniper etc. This way you character will hold each type of weapon and the Heavy Weapon dissapears. Just throwing the idea out there.
