So I played on Platinum today. Here are my thoughts.

new multiplayer DLC. I’ll try to cover as much as I remembered on the short
two-hour multiplayer gameplayer inside the Bioware base at the Gaslamp
Hilton today.
Ok I’ll get to the point: Platinum difficulty.
Before I start, I’ll say there are three types of people
that you will want to kick in the gaming lobby:
1.
Players without full gears on (all four of them)
2.
Players without a mic.
3.
Players that you deem incompetent (for me it’s
N7 below 350).
Platinum difficulty is hard because of the following
reasons. I’ll get into details later:
1.
Enemies have more health
2.
Ultimate enemies (atlas, banshees, primes) and
potentially all other enemies(pyro, phantom and ravager) are present in every
wave.
3.
DIFFERENT FACTIONS OF ENEMIES jump in starting
at wave 3.
Let me talk about the three points one by one.
1.
Enemies with more health make the game difficult
for two reasons: to start off, your weapons and spells are less effective.
Secondly, your life-saver: rockets now have smaller instant-kill radius.
2.
Ultimate enemies are present in every wave. This
is pretty self-explainatory. And yes, I think if you play reapers there will be
two banshees in wave one. The magnetic-hand problem was not fixed.
3.
Number three is by far the biggest challenge in
Platinum. Starting at wave three, enemies with different factions will jump in.
For example, in our case, we started off with Cerberus. At wave three, we
received the hacking objective. I noticed that reapers started spawning. Tanky
brutes fixed the biggest problem of Cerberus troopes: low health. Combined with
phantoms flanking us, they annihilated our defense and we were all dead right
before the hacking objective was completed (yes at this point all the medi-gels
were used up).
Throughout the whole afternoon one team made it into wave 6.
They rocked.
More stuff on the next thread.

Thanks for the info.
Out of curiosity, what character did you use and What are your thoughts on it?

You get three more maps: Vancouver, London and Rio.
Vancouver is two-layer structured. The upper level is an office with a lot of covers. Lower level is full of cover and obstacles.
London map is very similar to the place you hold out before firing the thanix missile in Priority:Earth in singleplayer. Additional stairs were added to two sides of the map.
Rio is map with a lot of catwalks and tight corners. I think shotguns will dominant on this map.

How much more health do they have?
I could not tell exactly, but they were definitely more tanky on Platinum.

You get a new character for each class. They are all N7-humans.
Unfortunately I did not have time to try out all of them. I’ll tell you the ones I used and what I though of them.
Infiltrator: the new infiltrator focuses heavily on melee. She has: tactical cloak, electric splash (smash?), shadow strike.
Electric splash (smash?): you swirl your sword around and damages the enemies around you. In addition, you send out a shockwave toward the direction you are aiming. (good when being corner-raped?)
Shadow strike: you teleport to the position behind an enemy and slice it. The enemy does not have be in your line of sight. As long as you can get a lock-on, you can go for it.
In addition, the heavy melee of the new infiltrator is using sword.

That means it doesn't matter much which fraction you have chosen? How do they decide how many enemies from other fractions to put there?
It could be random, I do not know. Did not have time to try out a lot.
But this is for sure: you will get one additional faction STARTING ON WAVE 3.

Probably won't touch the Platinum mode without a N7 class.

More enemies: more stuff to kill
Harder enemies: takes just a fraction longer to kill (even upping a basic Trooper by 1000 points is just a second longer)
Diverse enemies: nothing different (people can't hide behind counters in a small room)

What about enemy AI? Are they more aggressive on platinum (like, nemesis firing more often)?
As far as I can tell, there was NO improvement on AI. But this does not mean it is easy.
Trust me, it is not.

Come back to tell us that when you got flanked by 2 banshees, 2 phantoms and 3 pyros.
Seems interesting to me, can't wait to try this new difficulty with the Slayer.
