ME3 isn't a bad game. It's just not as good as ME1 and 2 in my opinion. But It's one of the better games I've played so far this year as long as I quit the game before I reach the catalyst. Sadly it holds next to no replay value for me. But that's another story.
But I still don't agree with the blind praise that some people give the game. Like it was gods gift to mankind.
The game has flaws, there is no point in denying that. Even if you consider yourself a "Loyal Bioware Fan" you gain nothing for turning a blind eye to the issues this, or other games, has.

I'm not saying that pointing out the same issues over and over again in thread after thread is any better. But ignoring the problems the game have and refusing to acknowledge them won't help anyone either. There is a middle road in all this.
This may come as a shock for some people. But you can be a Bioware fan and at the same time still be rational enough to acknowledge that the game, in fact, has problems.



Sometimes I get the feeling that certian people here on BSN would have praised the endings to the game as genius writing and a pinnacle in gaming history even if it involved Shepard recruiting Bozo the Clown to get help constructing a giant magic popsicle that would turn all the reapers in to popcorn in the last 10 minutes of the game.
Because it was Biowares idea it has to be genius no matter what, right?

I think they put a lot of effort into ME3. All in all, its a fun game with a lot of emotional moments. Some of those moments are deeply touching and truly special.

Some of the story arc is a bit 'wonky' as I would call it. I did not like the starkid stuff at all. I did not like that we took the crucible route at all. I find it preopsterous that a reaper intellecct would help organics because we made it a big power source.

I can say that there is some bad writing in ME3. Really bad 'broad brush' stroke "take it down this path" kind of decisions were made. Decisions like the big bosses and leaders were in charge of. All of the little stories in the game are amazing - its the big picture and ending that lack.

Compared to the rest of the series, this game is not so wonderful. ME1 had the best story, and ME2 was just an amazing new view of the ME universe. Mass Effect one and two are in the Pantheon of top ten games that you will always love and remember. Mass Effect 3 is not there. Does that make it a bad game? No - it just doesn;t shine as well as the other two.

Thinking about it almost everything listed is a fact. But whether or not those facts makes it a good or bad game is based upon personal opinion

I can accept complaints about things like Cerberus, the bad journal, the little kid, etc. But I'm sorry, some of these complaints are objectively wrong. There is no auto-dialogue unless you deliberately choose that in the options. Just because there are fewer dialogue branches doesn't make it railroading. You still get to chose Shepard's opinion where it matters and I never ever found a point in the game where Shepard had said something I hadn't wanted him to say.

No, it is not a bad game. I would even say that it is easily above average game. Even with auto-dialogue, bugs,fetch quests and quest menu in general.
Original ending(s) is horrible. EC upgraded it to tolerable.

Auto-dialogue? Yes, auto-dialogue. Shepard is limited to 2 choices in 60% of cases and in 40% he is just talking in cutscenes. Needless to say that those 2 options are not fitting my character. For comparsion, on average there were 3-5 options for all dialogues in previous games. Charm/intimidate? Used like 3-4 times for the entire game. Compare that to ME2 with at least 20 uses.

No, Galaxy was not explored. Sorry, scanning for useless artifact =/= exploring.

Choices did not matter at all. Rachni are there, Cerberus salvages the Collector's base in any case, fake Legion is there and so on and so on. If you think that EMS mean anything... Wrong.
