You could go to Feros first, or to Noveria first. ChoicesCronoDragoon wrote...

Apples and Oranges. A game with a goal could have different ways of how to achieve them. Best examples:
Witcher 2, Fallout New Vegas and Alpha Protocol.
And what are the different ways you could go after Saren? Why can't I tell the Alliance to stick it and start my own pirate ship?

Alpha Protocol has the exact same damn ending with the boat, no matter what you do. The game was cool and had a sweet dialogue system, but your choices really didn't mean much.tonnactus wrote...

I wouldn't say that ME1 lacks focus. Well, unless you explore uncharted planets for several hours.txgoldrush wrote...

Choices that don't matter...
In fact, not railroading a story makes it lose focus...and ME1 and ME2 lacks focus.

Yeah, lots of choices here. Screw New Vegas and stuff like that (haven't played The Witcher 2 yet so can't comment about the different routes there, but damn, New Vegas was awesome)CronoDragoon wrote...

Well, probably because the majority here prefer ME1 to 2 and 3. And thinking about good old times makes you forget about the mess that BW made with Star-**** and his stupid choices.CronoDragoon wrote...

New Vegas is sitting on my shelf currently, waiting to be played! I'm not dissing New Vegas or The Witcher 2's choices or anything. I'm just comparing ME1 and ME2 in terms of choice.
Defending ME2 and 3 at the expense of 1 is exhausting. I liked ME1 and would rather not point out the flaws but damn people like to wax goddamn nostalgic around here.

Already answered. Also i could not recruit tali/samara/legion etc. before recruiting garrus(pc players could do this with modding the game)
This wasnt a problem in the first game because the squad was nearly complete after reaching the citadel.
And it has an invisible mission counter that,if reached a specific number of missions, forced the player to do what the illusive man wants.

Why?
What exactly is "atrocious"?
