What would you guys do if BioWare said "Hey guys! Guess what?! We were just trolling with you the entire time! Now here's DLC with the endings and everything else you guys want! Have fun!" right before the last DLC came out?

Swear a lot, then pirate it, then buy it if it's as advertised and not MORE trolling. Because, you know, once bitten, twice shy.

I would say son of a b**** a lot

edit: I would be happy but a little angry at the ultimate troll of all time.

I wish they would just tell us what they were going for. If they admit they made a mistake, I'd be a lot happier. And if there is something bigger coming, that they've been planning for a long time, then they should tell us something more than just a vague tweet.

I would be pretty angry if they actually said they were trolling. But I guess even if this theory is true, people will still call them trolls. I dont see it that way though. In fact, if they have some master plan for the endings to come then I think it's genius because it let's us experience the depression that is war.

I agree, but honestly, it could have been a mixture of both. Lemme explain....

They wanted to leave the endings open, why?

My guess is because the RGB endings were some of the ideas of how they wanted ME to end. But in leaving it so open it allowed them to gather all our feedback to come to a generalization of what we all want, then they could use that to incorporate endings that the fans want...

However, because there are endings already in place, it allowed them to just stick with that ending and not incorporate more, should the fans not care.

Whatever their reasoning... Do you really think all that information, all those months Jessica Merizan spent collecting all that data and feedback, was just solely for the Extended Cut?

Ahh... Lost. That was a great show. I remember that I used to count how many times Sawyer would say SOB in one episode. I think he said it seven times in one episode...

I agree with you 100%, Jade. If they managed to pull off the PT, I would be pretty freakin' excited. Also, the ME franchise have always been emotional games, and using each DLC as a stepping stone to the next, which then eventually leads to a conventional victory would be very emotional to me.

I never played the game, which is probably a good thing. The TV show was awesome though! It was definitely one of my favorites.

The game was really stupid. I'd rather replay the Mass Effect 3 endings lol

I really like this theory. I hope its true! I just don't have that much faith in BW anymore. If this actually was their plan all along (which there IS a lot of subtle evidence for it) I will:
1) jump out of my own skin in excitement
2) eat my shoe

EDIT: for me the deciding factor will be the impact on the ending sequence from the eventual Retake Omega DLC. Interestingly, in the Greek alphabet Omega is the last letter, and is often used to mean the last or the end of something. Hopefully that means it will change the end in some way!!! :P

I am likely reaching at this point, but in astronomy the Omega symbol is used to denote the density parameter, which models the density of all energy in the universe. Not surprisingly it ties into the uneven distribution of dark matter. Perhaps BW didn't abandon the dark energy theme at all?

Just do a search for "dark energy" in the Mass Effect wiki and see the things that come up. Most of those subjects are some of the only things (as far as I can tell) that have yet to be "resolved" in the storyline: the premature aging of the Haestrom sun, object Rho and the events of Arrival (lol - the "alpha" relay), and what ever happened with Gianna Parasini and her investigations on dark energy research? It just seems weird that BW would leave the (apparent?) subplot of dark energy hanging through to the last DLC of ME2, if they only planned to abandon it in all the end.

Then again, stranger things have happened...

Dark energy plot was Drew's idea. It was scrapped when he left. I don't think they're allowed to use it. That's why it wasn't heard of again.

Where was dark energy foreshadowed in Arrival?

At this point I don't care any more. Whatever they release, I'll buy. I'm done being butt-hurt about the ending.

The Puzzle Theory huh?

it holds as much weight as any other theory as far as probablility goes. I like the idea, but alas I have been crushed into far too fine of a powder to Hope anymore...I have none left to spare.

like the idea , and would still have the other options like control and synthesis if you prefer them. But it would kinda make the crucible pointless. Would like to see something like the more you ppl you get working on the crucible the greater understanding of it. maybe find a way to limit it to the reapers. But idk that way they wouldn't make a major plot device pointless

You mean a plot device that pretty much no one likes anyway? Honestly...why do people feel the need to defend such a poor asspull?

Doesn't a report in the game (from the Spectre Terminal or Liara's files) state that a war drawn out for more than a year would irrepairably destroy the galactic economy and bring about the collapse of civilisation even if we defeated the reapers?

The report was made by the volus who I think would know a thing or two about the economy.

Yes it was in the Spectre Terminal.

I really hope this theory turns out to be true. Is there any evidence of it (in tweets and such)?

Just three things:

1) For Shep to be alive
2) For a way to actually keep EDI and the Geth alive
3) Happy reunion with LI and crew

Still....out of the many theories I've read and seen, this probably tops the list now for me. It's still a very plausable theory.

I agree on all three counts. And of course there will be a few sacrifices but being the "catalyst" to cause the genocide of an entire species is a whole different ball-game.

Oh exactly! I expect there to be a few sacrifices. There were some already in the main game that made me very sad, but at the same time, felt very natural. I would expect there to be sacrifices. But yes....the mass genocide of an entire race....yeah...no.

finally this thread gets pushed up, after playing through leviathan, this theory may have merit, if bioware actually does this they may just make video game history.

They've already made videogame history. Have you gone to your local gamestop to read through the Game informer mag? Game informer is actually COMPLAINING about the ME3 ending hatemail they're STILL getting.

They failed so hard its become videogames instant "jumping the shark" reference, all but beating to death the bad memory of the Fable series.

But, if Bioware did this wouldn't that still make them @ssholes? For not only making most of this game's plot pointless, but for charging full price for an incomplete game?
