A more sinister enemy? That part is the interesting tidbit. Was this mentioned before?

More sinister enemy? Was this on his podcast? I haven't heard anything about it, but it might have been mentioned during the livestreams. Might be some unseen Cerberus or something. Indoctrinated Cerbys?

Hold on let me rehear this... "We also got another kind of uh hidden...more uh more sinister enemy under wraps"
He says this after talking about the mech when talking about content in Omega.

Collectors!? :o

It's adjutants and/or new Cerberus enemies. The Dragoon will makes an appearance. Along with another unnamed Cerby troop... Whether that's adjutants or not remains to be seen.

This is pretty much my stance too. I believe the other Cerberus troop is the Rampart Mech btw.

well well well, anyone else think it's a fascinating coincidence that the team operations started back up the week before the Omega release?

Don't be ridiculous! :D

They would never do anything to coincide stuff with other stuff! So much work!

I just find it fascinating that they had no squad goals or victory packs for the entire last month, but then start it up again when Omega comes out. Do you think that it means they have ordered a set amount of squad operations to coincide with dlc's?

I sure hope so.

All that time and effort through all three games, doing pretty much every possible thing you can to save the Galaxy, and we can't even have a heavy loss Refuse? Why pick this damn ending? At least the 'Refuse'-like ending to Deus Ex: Human Revolution gives Mankind freedom to do what they want at a cost to you. With this, everyone dies needlessly, and it's left up to the next Cycle's civilisations to win. They'll probably have to use the Crucible to defeat the Reapers, too, so what's the point?

I have four characters, each one will make a different choice, weighing the pros and cons and looking at things as they have throughout the series. My Paragon Soldier, Frank Shepard, is intelligent, charismatic, courageous, virtuous, and unwavering, with a keen tactical and strategic mind and strong pursuit of liberty for all. A powerful and united Galaxy should be able to defeat the Reapers without the need to destroy the Geth and AI, damage the Relays, live under an Overlord, or be forced to become one with Synthetics.

I'm usually not for these theories, but this? I look forward to this theory being right, at least to a degree.

Yep.  Harbinger and the Collectors are effectively an ace in the hole for Bioware.  I'm expecting they'll save their return in the single player campaign for something truly epic, maybe even their last DLC.

Anything in single player that involves Harbinger and/or the Collectors is guaranteed to sell like hot cakes.  Combine that with a final, shock twist in the tale that leads us into ME4 = welcome to Hypesville.

Plus, I don't believe for one second that Bioware went through the trouble of redesigning, reanimating and rebalancing the entire Collector faction for a free multiplayer DLC only; that's a hell of a lot of hard work, and re-using the assets in a single player DLC is a way to make it pay off.

FInally - look at the end of the Retaliation trailer, where Harbinger drops down onto Firebase Dagger.  That is not an animated cut scene.  That is footage from the game engine.  An in-game Harbinger model, on an in-game map.

Here's how I see it...

Mass Effect 1: Shepard can solo the game, with or without the help of his/her crew.

Mass Effect 2: Shepard needs to rely on the strengths of his/her crew to get through the game unscathed.

Mass Effect 3: Not only needs the help of his/her crew, but needs the help of the entire galaxy.. And THIS is where the Multiplayer comes into it by letting us aid Shepard in helping to fight off the Reaper forces etc... and gather enough intel to help give Shepard the best fighting chance possible.

I believe you're right. It also was rumored the dlc was delayed by about a month or so. So they probably are back on schedule now, albeit with a month worth of delay?

Though I'm not sure it was Bioware's fault for the delay, but the 9 week theory seemed to be spot on.

Yes Pascal, the Omega delay was not BioWare's fault.. Well, it was. But they had no power. It was microsoft who delayed it because "apparently" BioWare didn't get it finished in time for microsoft. Then the release of Halo4, Cod2 and AC3. Microsoft wanted to push it back a month.

Which is good that BioWare didn't get it out in a way, because it tells me they weren't interested in rushing the product. It may well be worth the $15 but I still aint buying it.

I like this theory but from a business point of view sounds almost suicidal.

You make money selling a game to your loyal fans, and it is general knowledge that most fans did not like the ending, only so that you could sell a few more copies or DLC down the line when most of your fanbase has deserted you, meaning you will earn lot less money anyways?

Dunno, seems like pulling the most hugely obscene middle finger in the history of gaming if that's true, then again, they did make some ME2 DLC to introduce ME3, so maybe they will do ME3 to introduce ME4, (which would be necessary if you want to create a canon ending).

The idea of this theroy would be to pull those fans back in who deserted them. And any fans who truly cared about Shepard and their story and weren't just trolling on BioWare coz they made a crap ending, would buy the dlc. Heck, people who like the endings now would probably still buy it.

Nup, the refuse ending *as is* is the biggest middle finger in the history of gaming. Can't get any worse.

ME1/2 aren't on it either. There's just no point really.

Yeah, Blur and I noticed this too. It's obvious that BW plans far, far ahead. Pretty much all developers do for that matter, but Bioware more than most. The evidence is everywhere.

@Banshee you mean the whole Mass Effect series or just now?
