Not sure what you mean... I'm not sure there was a prophecy, just information being passed down from eye-witness accounts etc..
uh... i think Operation Prophecy is about the end of the world as "predicted" by the end of the Mayan calendar on December 21st, 2012. since i'm here typing this, i think we can scrub that. i was amused by the name of the operation though.

Great idea. This would work for IT or no IT. Maybe Bioware knew they could never do a finale to suit enough people in time (screw EA's deadlines) so they decided they would use direct feedback and release it later. They must have known there would be discontent, but they didn't think it would be as bad as it was.Jade8aby88 wrote...
Well Mac Walters already admitted to taking risks with the endings...
So tell me, why would leaving the ending open-ended to collect fan feedback and incorporate tthat into another ending be a bad thing?
Even if we do have to pay for it, it's paying for something we actually want. And if this is their plan, it's an increadibly generous thing to do for your fans, so the least we can do is pay for it, and that way, anyway who doesn't want it, simply need not download it.
It's a pretty good idea. Also, merry Christmas Eve Jade.

Also, the only way they could ever get feedback to use in the ending was to leave it open ended. Because people have to understand the position they are in first, so they know what to ask for later..

so mac walters admits to taking risks with the ending? my god they destroyed the franchise. no-where on the net will you find a worse ending of such a great franchise.
Assassin's Creed, the Matrix series, Nolan's Batman series, Lost, the X-Files, Stephen King's Dark Tower books, Dean Koontz's Frankenstein series and many more all beg to differ. High horse - get off it.

Why the hostility?
I didn't think Nolan's batman ended that poorly.
Plus, those things lack one thing in common with Mass Effect. They were never as good to begin with, in my opnion.

The point is perception - you have yours, other people have theirs. You missed out the magic words - "in my opinion" - so stop purporting your opinion as fact when it's clearly not one that's shared by everyone.

No hostility, just tired of people who believe their own opinion is shared by everyone/the be all and end all. For them it is maybe, but fortunately they're only one person.

It wasn't a bad ending, but it was definitely the weakest film of the series. Not Nolan's fault of course, but due to the awful circumstances that followe dthe second film he would have had to re-write his entire plan for the series I'm not sure he had the heart to.
Plus, those things lack one thing in common with Mass Effect. They were never as good to begin with, in my opnion.
In your opinion.
Personally I'd say that quite a few of the series on that list had just as much if not more potential than Mass Effect. It's not the only series to have ended on a disappointing note, far from it. And of course, the Mass Effect series hasn't actually ended yet either - I thought that was the entire point of your thread in the first place?

Well, that's settled then. It's only your opinion.
You're entitled to it. It's wrong, of course, but you're entitled to it!

First of all, why stick "in your opinion" like you're trying to brush off my statement as opinion, when I already stated in the exact post you quoted it was "in my opinion"? That makes no sense to me...
Second of all. While this theory does support the fact that the war isn't over and Shepard still needs to rise above the Catalyst's bull. That's not what I was talking about. I was talking about my literal perception of the trilogy. Theories aside.

Don't fret. It was merely a joke, in reference to my earlier points.
Also...

Not a hypocrite at all. I'm perfectly aware that my opinion is my own, could quite easily be wrong and is not shared by everyone. Others, however, clearly need this pointing out to them.

No, because there is no right and wrong. Just because his opinion doesn't support yours doesn't make it wrong in any way shape or form. It simply makes it different. That's not a matter of opinion, it's a fact.

Still hey. I'm wrong about having the right to an opinion when others seem to suggest otherwise.

LOL, no - opinions can quite easily be wrong.
And in this case, dorktanian stating that Bioware "killed the franchise" with ME3 is clearly wrong, regardless of opinion, because people still enjoy playing it, are still buying the DLC and are still discussing the story to this day.
Now if there was a clear and evidenced consensus that everyone thinks that ME3 is a shambling trainwreck which ruined the series for everyone that played it, then he may be right. But there isn't, and he is not.

No he wasn't, he simply said that it had a worse ending than any of the other franchises you mentioned. Which is entirely debatable.

Now, because "of such a great franchise" is totally subjective, therefore everything that came before that is totally his opinion already.
Secondly, this is what was in debate, you know, since you bolded it and everything. That being said, even when he said "my god they destroyed the franchise" because of what was listed in my first sentence, this now becomes "my god they destroyed the franchise for me."
See what I did there?
