You have to be veeeeery careful. You HAVE to leave the 'you' character to a minimum of importance. The optimum would be just intel, or nothing at all on the battlefield. Be someone who does menial tasks that no one else would want to. You do not want to have that one be someone who takes the spotlight. You want it to still focus on Shepard, you're just an extra in a good SI.

Or she could do whatever the hell she wants. That's what I do.  Who cares what someone's rules say?

Well in the self-insert story I was thinking of I was going to be the main character. But at the same time, I wasn't going to be the hero. Shepard and crew would be the hero. I would just be that girl that came across them etc...

@BBN, really? Because my self-insert was going to be *so* big.... It was going to fill every single plot hole of ME3.

Jade What if Shepard is indoctrinated. That part of the Indoctrination theory follows through…making everything you see a lie. What if everything that happens…..happens. BUT instead of picking a way of tackling the reapers you are instead picking the way the reapers will deal with humanity? They assume Shepard is the best humanity has to offer, so they indoctrinate him, then leave the choice up to him. In that way Mankind chooses it’s own destiny.

CONTROL!
Humanity is turned into a Human Reaper.

SYNTHESIS!
Humanity is made into a collector species.

OMG I LOVE IT!

But it could also work as Synthesis making humanity into a Reaper and control is turning humanity into a collector race because they would have more control over them as a collector race as their minds would all be gone! I LOVE THIS INTERPRETATION!

Yeah, that second one is nice indeed! And I noticed once again that Refuse is the other ending where we see Shepard standing tall after his speech (well, technically he isn't standing in Destroy, but he eventually walks with a straight back again).
