Jade, if this does turn out to be true, do you think we will be required to attain a certian galactic readyness percentage in each sector to unlock sucessful refuse?

If this becomes true, I would think you'd have to have 100% galactic readiness lol. Or at least close to it.

sooo where does Operation Genesis fit into the stream of things?

I was going to place that in now, but I am going to wait until my next update, mainly because I like to link the success speech and not the operation presentation page.

Speculating on it as it stands however, this is the next operation after Operation Prophecy correct?

Well then it stands to reason that the "veteran" soldiers need a break if you look back at the success write-up for Prophecy.

Definition of Genesis - the beginning/formation of something

I interpreted it as the invention of the genophage cure, and maybe the 'veteran soldier's break' reflects Shepard's taking a break from the main quest around that time (Grissom Academy anyone?)

That's just me speculating of course, but damn if this whole theory turns out to be true

Successful refuse would be pretty cool.

Not sure how they'd execute it, but it'd be a neat idea.

Then people who don't play multiplayer would be utterly shut out of an ending. Sadface.

Shouldn't it be based on war assets solely, since readiness is just a war asset modifier?

Please, no endings based on galactic readiness.

I shouldn't be punished for not enjoying multiplayer.

galactic readiness should not matter but the EMS points for promoting should.be more of a factor..

that way if you cant play MP or just choose not too you could still get the successful refuse but it will only be more difficult because you are losing out on the EMS for promoting but you wont be automatically ineligible with 50% readiness

since the current operation is named Genesis, i wonder what would the forum reactions be if the next one were to be named...Lazarus?

That might be right, but I would laugh if the next one was called Exodus, and the operation that enables successful refuse(Assuming they go with this) is called Operation Revelation.:D

It would be cool if they could find some way to modify the GR level by simply playing SP campaign.

Or..

Maybe after the dlc cycle ends, they will just modify to stay at 100%, since the ending would be possible, the galaxy had already done everything to get ready for the big battle...

Maybe, tying it into the side missions or the N7 missions?

This would make more sense, especially after all the operations that have passed.

Yay, thread revive! Image IPB

Operation: GERONIMO (Jan 18th-20th)
Event Description: Reaper units are identifying and
targeting our team medics. To counter, we are increasing training in
battlefield medicine for all N7 soldiers, regardless of specialty. By
ensuring each soldier can deliver emergency care, we will confuse and
frustrate the Reapers into abandoning their strategy.
Individual Goal: Earn any first aid medal on any map at any difficulty.
Reward: Commendation Pack

Operation's up. Do any of you think that maybe this is to make so that we'd lose fewer people during the ground attacks during Priority Earth? Maybe have it change the scene after you choose RGB so that instead of people being overrun you have people pushing reaper forces back.

So Genesis was a couple of weeks ago, and Genesis means "a build up" or "creation" of something yes?

Then Geronimo could very well mean, the launch of said creation. And with BioWare's recent and final ME3 team meeting...

Well, I'm just gonna go out on a limb here and say it could be relating to the next SP dlc release time. Now, while I don't really think this theory is right anymore.. I do still believe they'll end this last dlc on a high note.. Meaning, more closure for Shepard and his/her story.

I wish this was true but I doubt any company would risk a year of bad reviews and fans screaming just because ... why would they do this anyway ?

But this idea might save their butt so maybe devs and writers will eventually retcon something similar

I wish so badly that I could believe this but I don't think Bioware will go through with it. They'll keep their "artistic vision" and just have anyone that disagrees deal with it.

Well what's worse. Risking a year of bad reviews and fans screaming...

Or fans screaming and bad reviews indefinitely?

As for why they would do this, I have a list of reasons.. Ready?

  • If they had of giving us a straight up wonderful ending from the get go, it would have cheapened the Reapers.
  • Due to the multiplayer component, they would want to make it mean something to the story, not simply have it tact on and mean nothing.
  • It allows people to pick up this game again and experience Shepard's conclusion once and for all.
  • It allows them time to gather fan feedback and understand just what there target audience wants out of this ending.
  • If they had of packaged it in the vanilla game, no one would experience control or synthesis and BioWare wouldn't know what fans really think of it.
  • The fans screaming is symbolic of Shepard's fight in ME3 against the Reapers, no matter how much you do, you hold no power.
  • Most importantly, ME3 is the end of a long saga, closing out such a magnificent story with tact on DLC that doesn't mean much would be seriously anti-climactic. And since the vanilla game, (even with EC) failed to reach a climax, I honestly can't see them doing this.
So yes, I believe this next dlc will have something big about it. And I think it will revolve around Shepard exclusively.

So what are you going to do when it turns out to just be Leviathan 2.0? Some topical but ultimately irrelevant revelation that gets slotted into the middle of Shepard's awful final journey and is never even referred to after that?

The multiplayer challenges are likely building up to Reckoning. I doubt they will ever be relevant to single-player, as they haven't been for any of the past content (that I can recall).

Though I'm glad you no longer believe in this, at least as a whole. Hopefully it will leave you less disappointed when the day comes and the ending doesn't change.

As long as Shepard's receives more closure in some way, I'll be okay.

If not, then MEHEM and goodbye to BioWare products..

Closure how?

What sort of thing would be acceptable to you (given that it will take place before the ending and won't have any substantive effect on the ending)?

I actually had similar thoughts about the operation names. :P I seriously hope they end ME3 DLC cycle on a high note.

I think with the IT thread getting banished to group land. Leviathan adding simply two lines to the ending and just war assets. The lack of impact of Omega on anything. And an overall case of war weariness.

Reunion. Ability to believe s/he survives destroy... Anything along those lines...

As for your bracketted comment, that's assuming you believe the Community employee, see I don't.

I don't not believe in it, that's a bit strong. I just feel like there'd have to be a hell uva lot of context to be able to include a successful refuse now that there's only 1 dlc left. Can't really see them just adding a successful refuse to what we have and going "there you go, there's your ending."

While that would be good. I am just really skeptical that they'd do it.

Anyone reckon this could be symbolic of something? ; )

It's for 'reviving' the people's faith in Mass Effect and Bioware(for those who lost that faith.) which is what the next dlc will do, and it's going to be announced sometime in the next two weeks. At least, that's my interpretationl. This entire game and its current dlc cycle were to test the people, to see who loved Mass Effect and Shepard to the point that for ten months they would be saying, "Shepard and this amazing series deserved better. Please give us more, because you can do better than this. You are the people who brought us the most satisfying ending in gaming. "
Because at least for me, just thinking about going through the Omega 4 relay at the end of two, handing the Collectors and the reapers their ass on a platter, and not losing a single person is an experience that gaming has not given us before that game, or since. The first time I did it, and Shepard said, "Some people gave their lives for this mission." I was freaking out, wondering who had died. I practically reset my xbox so that I could save whoever died.  Even thinking about the ending I get goosebumps, it was just so amazing that before 3 came out I was thinking that it would be game of the year. That other games would not stand a chance compared to what it would be. That, it would be a twelve on a scale of 1-10. Perhaps my expectations for it were a bit high, but in 2, I thought it was easily an 11. Sure, the planet scanning mechanic was very slow, but just pulling that out made the game flawless. I know there are people who complain about things in the combat, but I never had any of those problems. Even on my insanity playthrough. So, that's what I think. And Bioware, please give us something better for Shepard. Because this amazing franchise, this rich universe, these beloved characters, deserve more. And, you, as the best story-telling developer in gaming today, even though you've made a few misteps, can do it. So please, from a fan of the series, and you as a developer. Also, this should be said sense it is  not often said on the BSN, but the original Knights of the Old Republic is one of the best games ever made, and the best Star Wars game ever made. And does anyone else think that an HD remake of Knights of the Old Republic would be amazing? With the original story and dialogue intact. :D But, I've gotten seriously off topic. Anyways, in conclusion, Bioware's awesome, Mass Effect 1 and 2 are awesome. DAO is awesome (Haven't played 2), and Knights of the Old Republic is so awesome that I did PC gaming for the first time in years just so that I could play it more.
