The Slayer is a "weeaboo" how, exactly? Melee weapons make sense in the ME universe, they don't go fast enough for shields to activate(although, I don't think that is shown gameplay-wise), and with the Slayer's ability to short range teleport, melee sounds like a decent combat tactic. Even still, I don't understand how a sword is "weeaboo", maybe if it looked morel like a katana, but it just looks like a generic blade. And even if it was a katana, that's not enough for it to be "weeaboo".Chashan wrote...

I know that Dune gave a quite explicit explanation about why classic melee-weapons are still used there, I was not aware ME did as much. Care to point that one out?

Just to be sure, will the new weapon mods take the place of the current ones?, 'cause they sounds like they have similar effects but with some trade offs.
I believe that it is mention somewhere in the codex. It pretty much explains how shields work and why melee weapons are effective still. That explanation would be that a user's shields only activate when a high-velocity projectile comes in contact with them(a bullet), and anything below a certain speed/velocity won't trigger the shields. Which is why you can sit down on a chair, without your shields acitvating. The average melee attack is below the speed/velocity for the shields to activate, thus allowing the attacker to bypass the user's shields and get directly to them. I think that its an interestin idea. It would be nice if melee attacks worked like in lore and directly affected a target's health instead of having to take down their shields first, like every other weapon.Chashan wrote...

Just my personal first reaction there. I am overall not pleased with the fact we now got "space ninjas" on our side as well. Phantoms are only borderline-tolerable because I can let them have a fistful of steel.
Other than that, their own entry on omni-blades sounds like something that could, and does, provide for more sophisticated and exciting possibilities as far as melee-weaponry is concerned. Fire-and-forget instant-use blade that can have whatever form is aesthetically pleasing? Sure, why not.
If it had to be kitsch blades, I would even have been aboard had it been a pudao-ish polearm instead of a plain dao. Polearms are underrated, and at the end of the day still "cool" however silly they still are in the equation, but that is just me.

Indeed they do. The Slayer should be excellent at melee, as somebody(Gamespot, I think) said that even with his light melees, he teleports and can switch between targets easily. That should make for some awesome moments. Surrounded by five troopers, teleport everywhere around them and slice them up before they can even land a hit.Immortal Strife wrote...
The new infiltrator and Vanguard look like beast ninjas, I can't wait to get my Ninja Gaiden/Bayonetta on with them.

Pretty sure it is armor.
at least the pisrols and assault rifles are getting lightweight matierals, that and reduced recoil on the saber will be great.Descy_ wrote...

Hope not.
It'll probably be
Normal Pistol HC Barrel +25% damage
New Pistol HC Barrel +35% damage +XX weight.
or something.
So you can choose less damage and less weight or more damage and more weight.
