They didn't make the first two too cartoonish, why make the mistake Batman & Robin did? Sh*t like that only works in the comic books. Giving Bane a magic infused steroid substitute would've just been ridiculous in this movie.
What were you expecting?
They could have replaced the super steriod with a rage drug. While the tone was fairly serious in the first two films, they did have Crane's fear drug and went a bit overboard with Dent's face.

The consensus seems to be The Dark Knight Rises is better than Batman Begins, but not quite as good as The Dark Knight.
Yeah, the current view from most critics is that it's not as good as TDN, but is still a respectable conclusion to the series. Bane also isn't as good as a villain as Joker and some are even saying his goals don't make sense with his actions. Mostly what should be expected.
Still I loved even Batman Begins, despite the particularly slow bits in the first half. Excited for this, at any rate. Got tickets a few hours ago for the midnight showing.
I've heard the RT page for TDKR has been suspended due to fans making threats to critics for giving negative reviews. Pretty embarrassing and I'm sure many of these people don't even realize TDK also had a fair share of naysayers when it came out.

I'm tempted to see it just to laugh at how bad it is. A friend described a scene where Batman fights off a shark in a helicopter that just happens to have a shelf with a can of shark repellent, among other odd things. The shark then explodes when inflicted with said repellent. It sounds hilarious.

Indeed it was. A wonderful conclusion to the first two installments. Only issue I really had was that Bane's voice seemed very odd for his build.
As for the shooting, that is both shocking and disturbing.

I live in Aurora ... I'm still in complete shock over this. My partner and I discussed going to the midnight showing, but we decided that we were going to wait until this weekend.
The guy apparently kicked down the emergency door of the theater, threw a smoke bomb, and went up and down the aisles shooting people at random. I can't imagine a more terrifying situation to be in; my heart goes out to everyone involved.

Sickening. Absolutely sickening. The sad thing is people are just gonna yell about how it was a Marvel fan or a delusional DC fanboy too in character (dude was dressed as Bane apparently, or close to it). My thoughts and prayers are with their families and those recovering. Apparently a 9 year old girl was shot too. Idk if she died or not, but my stomach churns when I think of how happy she was when her parents allowed her to stay up to go see it. Now she may be in a morgue. I encourage anybody to do what they can, even if it's just a prayer or kind thought.Cyberarmy wrote...

Investigators believe the suspect entered the "Fabeltjesland" — Fairytale-land — creche at around 10 a.m. on Friday with an eight-inch knife and started stabbing and slashing the children. He had painted his face white with black patches around the eyes.
Belgian newspapers are referring to the attacker as the "Joker" killer, a reference to the "Batman" villain played by Heath Ledger.[/quote]
So a pattern has been established, I suppose.

We have the death penalty here in Colorado, and I suspect that once the police and FBI get all the information, that's what he'll be getting.

Well in either case he's getting what he deserves.
