My condolences to the victims of such senseless violence. What a pity.

As for the movie (SPOILERS AHEAD)

---------------------------------------

I am disappointed. It is a great movie, but I expected much more, which I guess is the bane, no pun intended, of any successful series.

My problems with it:

- While Anne Hathaway portrayed catwoman well, I do not see the point of why she was there. She fulfilled no crucial role to the story or to Batman's development as a character. The chemistry between the cat and the bat is almost non-existent, let alone any well written romance between the two. All in all she felt pointless.

- Batman and Bruce received poor characterization, again. Only BB managed to capture at least some of the complexity of Batman (I am an exception here in that I like BB the more times I see it), TDK and TDKR did not.

- Plotholes like how Batman got back to Gotham. Why was his leg broken in the beginning? What the **** was Ra's al Ghul's apparition? Stupidity like an all out charge and brawl at the end instead of people taking cover and using their guns.

- Alfred. Not only because he talked a lot, again, but because he ****ing abandoned Bruce in his time of need? What? What was the point? That's incredibly OOC.

- Stop trying to make us give **** about Rachel. Begins failed in the romance department, Dark Knight failed even more. We are not going to relate to Bruce's pain if the romance was not done well.

- Way too much Robin Black. We get it, he's the successor of batman, we don't need that much time on him, time that could have been used for far more important things.

Now the important bits:

- Bane. Now I found him great throughout most of it. He was intimidating and impressive, both physically and mentally. At one point his manner of speech made me chuckle ("Impossible!"), but in general I liked both the voice and how he talks a lot. BUT his end was horrible and extremely anti-climatic. Very poorly done.

I liked his motivation somewhat, but the part about having the bomb detonate after 5 months FOR NO REASON AT ALL barring the typical stupid villain lulz moment. Ra's al Ghul operated with deadly efficiency and didn't give a damn about giving people false hope (how is what bane doing giving hope anyways? We don't even see if the people like it)

- Talia. I saw it coming but that's not the problem. The problem is that she is very under-developped. Why is she so obsessed with her father's work? We never got to see the relationship between the two. A simple flashback could have added a lot to her motivation. The chemistry between her and batman was non-existent so the shock of betrayal didn't really have an impact (they just ****ed for no reason). Also, why the hell is she so obsessed that she and Bane want to die in Gotham? What's the point of the League if it's going to be destroyed with Gotham? Talia's weakness in character and motivation axiomatically weakens Bane. Talia was just a much less developed and much less impactful Ra's al Ghul 2.0.

How the story could have been much better:

Have the League of Shadows be split by 2 factions. One is led be Bane, who believes that violent revolution would make the world a better place. The other is led by Talia, who like her father believes that only a purge works. But the two love each other and so they decide to give Bane's way a try an if it failed, Talia would pull the trigger on the bomb.

This, other than giving reason to why they are waiting before blowing it up, would have added a lot.

It would have given Bane a much more sympathetic side, a certain humanity that also pushed to save Talia as a child. It would have also made all his revolutionary speeches to not be utter BS. In addition, it would have referred back to Ra's. Ra's would have intended for Bane to be his successor, but seeing his lack of decisiveness and necessary harshness, he excommunicated him and sought another successor: enter Bruce Wayne. Talia would have kept contact with Bane.

This would have also added a lot more characterization for Talia. She would have been torn between her love for Bane and her fanatical devotion to her father (which with a flashback would have been put in context). It would have made her a far more interesting character.

As for Bane's end, I would have preferred if he sacrificed his life for Talia. Yea sure it's melodramatic, but it's fitting and tragic. Maybe at the end Bane would have tried to stop Talia (who could be mentally unstable) from detonating the nuke and killing Gotham and them along with it. But as the catwoman fires at Talia, Bane saves her and takes the shot. Which would only serve to make Talia even more insane. That would have been good characterization. That Talia's life is dominated by two men, her love Bane and her father Ra's.

Instead, we kind of got nothing.

lol from the comments on an news release

"I was most shocked to learn that someone had brought their 4-month old infant to the theatre to watch this movie. Not only is it too violent for the baby, it is disrespectful to other patrons. A crying baby in a first-run A-list movie? Enough to make anyone go postal."

Also pft it was just Bane Punishing the 1% that guy they took in is just a fall guy.

What a shame that such senseless violence can occur at a place where it's supposed to be fun. I guess we're gonna have another argument about the second amendment..

Well if you look at the theme of the movie, the fact it was an early showing for higher up folks, and current political events. Its not a surprise. Its a surprise it hasn't happend and isn't more widespread. "Equality" has really ever came from force not being used.

Well they were mostly rich folks, that paints them as a target today pretty much. When the Military attacks someone and blows up a wedding its collateral damage. When someone shoots up a theater, its Terrorism. Its both the damn same. Under questioning that guy will admit it was class warfare I 100% bet on it. And the same folks will use it as cause to try and take away private firearms. Thus taking more control, and breeding more resentment, making sure of more attacks.

Ah well I guess we should get back to the movie before this is locked. (not that I condone it, just being devils advocate. And saying could be worse, shocked only it took so long to happen, not everyone who does such can be called a crazy)

So what it any good?

People were going to see a movie. They were only going to see a ****ing movie. Families, friends, dates, etc. Becuase of some ****, more than 12 people will never see the light of day ever again. ......There are some things in Humanity that are completely vile and just plain ****ed up, and the guy who shoot and killed people during the premiere of The Dark Knight Rises is one of those things.

I hope this ****er gets what's coming to him.

 Shooting at Batman preimere

Some masked guy attacked audience with gas bomb first and then with machine gun 12 dead 30-40 injured.
I first tought that was a promo but just watched news... im speechles.

How someone can go crazy that amount is beyond my understanding :(

Edit:

From BBC

I live in Aurora ... I'm still in complete shock over this. My partner and I discussed going to the midnight showing, but we decided that we were going to wait until this weekend.

The guy apparently kicked down the emergency door of the theater, threw a smoke bomb, and went up and down the aisles shooting people at random. I can't imagine a more terrifying situation to be in; my heart goes out to everyone involved.

What are the gun laws in your area? Too bad someone packing and on the ball couldn't take that slug out quick. I know he was armored though.

That's nothing, remember the ethnic cleansing in Darfur and the Balkans areas of Eastern Europe, the current civil war in Syria. The news reports on it, but we're detached, it not first and foremost in our minds, here it seems more on people's doorstep. Personally, I'm bemused, but not paticularly shocked by it. So many events like this have happened over the years and major conflicts, this isn't even a foot note. Cynical maybe, but there we are.

If Nomura is head of XV too (assets on VsXIII are being used for XV) that's gonna ****** off a LOT of Kingdom Hearts fans who have been patiently waiting on KHIII for AGES.

But that's a discussion for a different place.

I'd normally agree with you, but in this situation it wouldn't have helped and likely would have caused even more casualties. As you said, the gunman was wearing a bulletproof vest and from what I understand, the air was full of smoke and tear gas.

There aren't strict gun control laws here other than a ban on assault rifles (and the shooter had one on him).

Well it's as the Joker said. People are ok if things go "according to plan" even if it's horrifying. Violence in regions like the Mid East has been accepted as almost natural (and I come from there and am no longer that shocked). But when something is not according to plan, people lose their minds, which is an understandable reaction.

Hmm apperantly the man has booby traps in his apartment and gave up without a fight, many of the traps are going to take "days" to diffuse. He also had more weapons and a failed car bomb.

Most of this isn't crap you can legally buy in the states, not put together at least. I really want to know what firearms he was using if they are even legally obtained weapons.

But the bombs, boobytraps, tear gas, they can't call him crazy. Not yet, his ideals might be horrific to some, but the man shows a competance. The fact he gave up while still armed and armored, you can bet your ass he'll have some sort of political speach to make I'm sure.

He's America's Anders Behring Breivik.

Course he could have shot people for ****s and giggles, but this is litterally thousands of dolars in equipement and gear (most of it not easy to build or get, nevermind legality). I don't see an unstable man just building crap like that on an urge.

Also yes I ment the Media.

It doesn't matter how many die.

It matters who they are. Or so thinks the Media.

I don't think KHIII would ever be cancelled though.....i mean just look at all the KH games that have come out since FFVXIII was in development. Nomura's also stated that the new 3DS game would be the final one before KHIII, since that game left the door wide open for another one.

@Bear i just read this few seconds ago.
im guessing his speech will be of reguards to religious-political standards and the classification of some "secret pullers of the string are going to be exposed"

also the fact he gave up is kind of creepy.i wondering what his real end game is
