Whether you want to make them "origins" or something else, branching storylines was one part that stood out in dao and while the overall game was a bit lengthy in terms of replayability but these divergent stories were there - not so much in mid game (mostly jowan comes to mind) but still, there was much more to it than Hawk's ability to choose which sibling died.

What about da3? What can we expect here?

I wouldn't mind one choice of main character if the story "branched" out in the middle and end :). Would be a lot more work for the writers, but in the end it would be worth it cause you could play it so many times over.

There needs to be a tie in with main characters from both games, it does not need to delve into great details but an update would be preferred. It would be nice to play either Hawke or whomever your character was from Origins in the new game as well. Hoping for a phenomenal RPG that will take some time and is challenging as well.

A wandering adventurer would make a good main character :). You would be able to have a greater control over the feelings of a nomad than someone from a certain place.

I really like that idea, someone who has travelled around his/her entire life since birth and has no idea where they were born because essentially they were "born on the road." That way he/she would have no emotional ties to any particular country or area in Thedas, It would make picking a side (if we have to) be based solely on what we as the player want from our character, without the influence of the protagonists family or patriotism. It would also make playing a neutral personality easier. Another bonus would be that we could pretty much create our characters backstory the way we see fit.

I wouldn't say you can't expect it... but there is the chance you will be disappointed.

Gaider and co. have said that one of their most recognized criticisms of DA2 was the lack of impactful choice, so hopefully this will mean more of that in DA3. But I would not put anything beyond anything at this point.

If Legacy and Mark of the Assassin are any indication, then the answer is no.

I can hope, but at this point I doubt it, each game bioware has made lately has taken more and more options and player agency away with each installment.

I would love it if they had branching story lines. The Witcher 2 did that and it was an absolute masterpiece. I think that it would fit in with the DA universe very well. Unfortunately I don't think it will happen. Lately Bioware has taken away a lot of choice from the way that people play their games. I don't think that that's going to change. Sigh....I love you Bioware, I do, but I wish you'd go back to the good old days.

That takes too much resources, which isn't in line with EA milking their customers marketing strategy, so branching storylines will not be happening. Expect another game where your choices don't matter at all, even when it comes to something as huge as DA2 ending.
