As an aside, since when is stating that someone didn't understand a question considered an insult?

Insulting me is still useless and you trying to act like an Internet tough guy is also useless.  You should really man up by admitting that you're wrong instead of railroading a topic based on you trying to start a measuring contest over a debate that you lost a long time ago.

Indeed. I determined this after our first couple of exchanges. It's been fun seeing just how far he/she is willing to drag out the argument but ultimately it's not worth the effort. I'll be interested to see the response to my language lesson but I'm probably done now unless Blueprotoss comes up with a particularly hilarious retort.

This is ironic based on how you keep on digging yourself into a deeper hole and you should stop contradicting yourself on your practices since you're not doing what you preaching about.

Your assertion that reading
comprehension is not required to discern the meaning of words that can
have multiple definitions with the same spelling is farcical

I had no clue what that last word meant. I sounded it out, and with the context of your previous words, it sounds like it relates to "farce". I confirmed it via Dictionary.com. Isn't that reading comprehension? I'm not sure.

Isn't it funny how sci-fi and fantasy eventually devolve to this kind of thing? The funny part being the marketers actually think that's what the audience wants.

Its hard to get any good sci-fi. The money men think it has to be camp. I like Dr. Who and all (and it gets really campy) but I much more enjoy Rodenberry's Star Trek (to differentiate from the Enterprise 90210 that is the JJ Abrams stuff). As an example.

Sci-Fi is an arena to explore concepts in a "safe" environment.

That depends on what type of content you think is not "meant for kids" and if this movie has that content.

Animation has always been involved with the sci-fi genre since the 70s with Star Trek, Astro Boy, Speed Racer, and Gigantor.  Later there was an explosion in the 80s with Transformers, Star Wars, GI Joe, Thundercats, Voltron, Silverhawks, Robotech, and He-Man is just a few examples.  After that there has been more and more sci-fi based animation while it doesn't matter whether its a cartoon or Anime.  Sci-fi is anything far from the "safe" environment that you think it is.

Here is a little something for you..

Although the concept of Space Colonization was not introduced by Gundam shows, the Universal Century series did spark academic research on the possibilities of different colonization methods.[2] Writers also make their own estimations about the realism of human colonization under a united Government like the Earth Federation. Author Ichigaya made a rough estimation of the cost of building a colony that can house 60 million residents and the relative tax requirement for building it, and deemed it to be quite implausible for a single country(Japan as an example) to support the project since it will at least raise the income tax rate up to 50~70%.[3]

The trailer doesn't really tell me anything except that they've got a limited color palette.

When did Shepard say "nothing is ever simple"?

I'll be honest. I'm looking forward to this. I have a lot of respect for Funimation, too, despite its silly name. Funimation is one of the very few big anime publishers to survive the economic downturn (rest in peace, ADV). Most people know it for bringing Dragonball Z to America, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. And no, not all cartoons are for kids anymore. Chances are this one will be aimed at mature audiences.

That's delightfully xenophobic opinion you have there...
Personally I think any film is best viewed in the language it was orginally produced in, with subtitles if necessary. I think we can all agree that the quality of the voice acting in most re-dubs tends to be awful and the fact that the mouth movements are no longer synchronized with the audio is distracting.

Honestly, the anime looks amazing. Funimation is a great company, and the animators who did Stand Alone Complex? Hell yeah.

... because there's never been a single anime that was even remotely entertaining. They're all just increasingly over the top carictatures of  stereotypical Japanese entertainiment.

Well Ghost in the Shell is fantastic. Ghost in the Shell was serious and believable. This however looks just bad and not fitting

I find the style not fitting for the serious ME universe. A 3D CGI style like the "Take Earth Back" trailer would be much more fitting than the anime style. But it´s a matter of production costs so the anime style was chosen.

One of the options before facing the Thorian in ME1 was "nothing's ever simple, is it" or something along those lines.
It would be funny if they were quoting a part of the story that they completely dropped after the first game for no reason.

Indeed. GITS actually seems less exaggerated in its art style than this for some reason.

Looks like a badly written, uninspired, generic anime-fication of the origins of a character few people were ever that much interested in. Having this released far more than half a year after the game, in which they completely failed to give a proper introduction to the character, seems kinda pointless.
Still looks about 100x better than the complete abomination that was Dawn of the Seeker. Image IPB

And btw, anime can be great! Due to lack of time I won't be able to repeat my educational 'anime is more than you think it is' posts from the past, though.
