[You mean "Defender of the Crown", which I played on my Amiga 500 back then. In fact, while having been some fun, it actually wasn't a great game.
I, too, had an Amiga 500. I remember playing Defender of the Crown, all the while wishing it was a tad better.
On the Amiga, I also played which I thought was a great RPG series: The Bard's Tale. Hey, back then, being isolated in GTMO, I thought The Bard's Tale was great. It would be horrribly dated now, since it was on floppy disks, but I burned a lot of midnight oil playing that static game. I was obsessed with it.
Heh, I loved this game, found this link a while ago, may bring back some memories for those that remember,

Once you finish with those you can pretty much pick and play any RPG from BioWare. All of them are great and quite similar to DAO (with Mass Effect being slightly different because of all the shooting).

Mass Effect also looks great, plays great, ME2 is right around the corner (next month!) and you get to continue the saga with the same character!
Everything else similar is pretty much abandonware. Kotor was my favorite game until DA came out, but it looks really dated, if you don't mind it's like 5 bucks on the direct download sites, like www.steampowered.com
Have fun!

Thing is, it REALLY depends on in what manner does that new game have to be similar to DA for it to interest you? I've seen people mentioning KotOR and ME and they aren't really such a great match, at least if you're looking into actual gameplay (not to say these games are bad or anything, quite the opposite). You're looking for older titles like Baldur's Gate series (Anomen and Aerie romance, anyone?), Icewind Dale series (if you prefer greater emphasis on actual battle) and similar games.zenrau79 wrote...
My question is, are there any other PC
games out there like DAO? Such as "if you love DAO you will like
_____."? I really need something else to play, that will keep my
attention while I wait on more download content or expansions. lol
But if it's romance you're looking for than I'd advise you to try JRPGs, that's usually their department.

It's very easy to get started with, and understand, yet has a lot of depth and replay value. Especially when trying to complete a unique armor set! You want a lot of levels of medieval weapons and armor, with an incredible variety, D:II rules and has for many many years. And unlike DA:O you don't retire a character until you've taken them through normal, nightmare, and hell mode!

Hey, I didn't know about that mod. Been waiting for the other one for years, but pretty much gave up hope. Off topic, but thanks for the info.
