First off, I am not *complaining* about this. Let's just get that clear. I am not whining, I am not going to throw my ME3 disc out a multistory building window, and I am not going to boycott BioWare or ME3 products. I love the game, I love the multiplayer, and I love the series, okay?

I am simply asking a question to the developers, the forum readers, and the community if I'm seeing something that isn't there or not.

Alright, here goes.

Starting with Resurgence, I began noticing a decrease in the versatility that the Sentinel class is supposed to be designed around.

Blade Armor appears to be more of a Combat armor, rather than anything Tech or Biotic. Okay, I can deal with that, as the Batarians are an interesting bunch that we don't know much about. It doesn't make the class great for detonating Tech Bursts or Biotic Explosions, but it's pretty good at setting it up, so that's not bad.

Then came Rebellion. Awesome, I love Vorcha, but Bloodlust, too, appears like a Combat ability, being shared with its Soldier counterpart.

Flamer is a great ability, and so are Cluster Grenades, but the two abilities don't help with detonation as well, maybe setting off a Biotic combo or Flamer starting off as a rare Fire Explosion.

Skip to the N7 Paladin Sentinel (video here : )

He has NO apparent Biotic abilities, unless Snap Freeze isn't a Tech power, like it appears to be.

So the Paladin can't even help set up or detonate Biotic Explosions now? Instead, he gets given Incinerate, which is not a main ability (like Biotic Charge or Tech Armor) has been given to:
- Human Engineers
- Quarian Engineer
- Quarian Male Engineer
- Krogan Sentinel
- N7 Paladin Sentinel

So 3 Tech abilities and no Biotics?

I think the entire idea is that they are given one power to detonate combos with and one power to set up combos with.

Turian: Warp for Biotic Explosion setup/detonation, Overload for Tech Burst detonation.

Krogan: Lift Grenade for BE setup/detonation, Incinerate for Flame Explosion setup.

Batarian: Submission Net for TB setup, Shockwave for BE setup/detonation

Vorcha: Flamer for FE setup, Cluster Grenade for BE detonation

N7 Paladin: FE, TB, Cryo Explosion setups, NO BE anything! It's supposed to be a Tech/Biotic hybrid!

We couldn't be given Warp instead of Incinerate? Or even Barrier with two Tech abilities? What about a meager Lift Grenade?

I love the Sentinel class for its versatility and focus on Biotics and Tech. I am just a bit disappointed if Snap Freeze is not a Biotic ability, but I can live with it. Once again, I'm not complaining. I'm just asking if these options (or suggestions, whatever) sound legitimate or not.

Anyone have anything (mature/appropriate) to say about this?

Most of the sentinels are good all-rounders but yeah, the new guy is pretty much an engineer. I'm not gonna complain about it since I like the powers he has, just seems weird to put him in the sentinel class.

The reason the batarian and vorcha had the same skill(s) is because BioWare is falling in love with copy and paste options.

As for the N7 Sentinel. These new classes I believe were just given random "new skills" to try and make them seem "cool" so that may explain that?

Like I said in another thread, even giving him throw instead of incinerate would have made him more interesting, IMO.

Turian: Warp for biotics and debuffing armor, overload for tech bursts and shield stripping.
Batarian: Shockwave is the most powerful biotic detonator, Submission net gives a long window for tech bursts.

That's the kind of versatility I want from more sentinels, to be able to synergize well with a mixed team and fill many roles.

That being said, the Paladin can do a lot of things. He has tools for durability and for dealing with both armor and shields.

i'm actually glad we get more diverse character options. i'd love to have a biotic infiltrator.

Also i think sentinels don't really profit from the mix of tech and biotic powers, cause you can explode neither biotic nor tech combos.

Yes you can, just not on your own. And that's what's so cool about it, the Turian Sentinel, for example, is the ultimate team player.

And the N7 classes all having different skills from each other doesn't count? Also, the Batarians only share Blade Armor as their standard ability, unlike the Vorcha which share Flamer and Bloodlust.

I do agree that the Paladin could've been given at least Warp instead of Incinerate to make him more of a proper Sentinel.

Barrier or tech armor would have been much more useful than incinerate so he can more effectively... tank. I still like the class but I can agree with your WTF at the no biotic ability.

The thing is, that instead of powers (he got only 1 new), they focused on his melee, which also is bad, due to being unable to move while holding shield, and the shield after all is breakable (1 brute jump is enough). He can't even set off tech bursts (if not counting Flame Explosion), because Shield Drain doesn't last long enough.

i agree 100%...i wish all sentinel class were more like the turian, having both a tech and biotic power...a proper sentinel...i should be able to go into any situation and handle it while some class are only suited for one thing in particular

The Paladin is an engineer in the same way that the human Sentinels are adepts. They just focus on different sides of the class.

Get rid of incinerate. Give barrier ti make him tanky. I do think of energy drain as a kind of tech armour because of the fact that it gives you damage reduction like tech armour. If they did this, get rid of incinerate and replace with reave or something. I thought up a salarian sentinel with energy drain as his "tech armour" and powers like reave and warp/throw.

Energy drain and incinerate can be used for tech bursts. Snap freeze and incinerate can be used to set up cryo and fire bursts respectively. No other class has the power set up to perform all three tech type bursts single handedly, and yet you're complaining that it doesn't have any biotic abilities. I'd ask if you saw what you're doing wrong here, but it's clear that you don't.

You missed the part where I asked for something MATURE to say about this class.
I also stated that I'm not complaining at all.

Your facetiousness was unnecessary and a clear violation of this site's code of conduct.

"No other class has the power set to perfrom all three tech type bursts single-handedly" - then make it an Engineer instead of a Sentinel - which is a Biotic/Tech hybrid. Not just Tech. That's the Engineer's duty.

And yes, I'd rather have Biotics than Flame Explosion. Biotic Explosions are more useful for damaging Armor, but having abilities that directly damage Shields is the reason I play Sentinel a la Turian. And Flame Explosions are far too rare to be useful.

I am not trolling. Once Vorcha came out the classic Sentinel was dead. Not really important though. The N7 Paladin has ED (best tech power overall in the game), Incinerate (decent but not great) Snap Freeze (who knows) and a Shield (will have to wait and see). If he is Platinum viable, I don't see the issue with lack of biotics.

The Tech/Biotic hybrid class lacking Biotics. You don't see an issue with that statement. Then you have nothing useful to contribute to this conversation and thus are trolling.

No he isn't. Warp misses 50% of the time, a horrible primer or exploder. Honestly a true team player would use a class with Overload in a Biotic Run. If you're going for Bio'splosions then the best classes are Warp Justicar, Drell Adept, N7 Fury and Smashguard.  If your giong for Tech Bursts then the uncrowned kind is the Male Quarian Engineer (Arc Grenade --> Incinerate --> Incinerate), next to him is the Human Engineer and N7 Paladin (Overload/Energy Drain --> Incinerate).

Being a good team player doesn't mean buddying up with a Turian as a Salarian Infiltrator so you can detonate Tech Bursts. It means being able to synergise to the point tech bursts are a natural occurence.

Also why do you get on about the Paladin having all tech when you ignore the fact that the Shadow has three aswell (Tactical Cloak, Shadow Strike and Electrical Slash. Also the Smashguard has three Biotic Powers, as does the Novaguard despite being Biotic/Combat hybrid. Heck so does the Asari Vanguard... and the Drellguard. Hell the only TRUE vanguard is the Battlemaster...

State whatever you want. Your post amounts to "new sentinel can't do biotic combos WAHHHHHHH!"

In reality, the tech/biotic hybrid class disappeared after ME1 and has since become the tech or biotic class that can soak more damage.

Guess you failed to read. I said, when the Vorcha (Sentinel) came out, the classic Sentinel was dead (grenades don't count). And a class should be defined by its abilities' application, not whether it is split between biotics or not. If the Sentinel is effective on Platinum, lack of biotics is irrelevant.

Actually his post amounts to wondering why the Human Sentinel(s) are incapable of doing their single player job of being a jack of all trades with Biotics and Tech.  While it's...kind of a shame that they can't, I'mm alright with them being Techy to the Regular Sent's Biotics.

The more pressing issue is the Paladin's shield.

The videos show it breaking on a Brutes charge on Bronze, breaking on Banshee scream and contracting Banshee AIDs despite the shield, on Bronze. Then, you think about Platinum. Concern warranted.
