I almost never use the powers on my Krogan sentinel. Or the weapons.

Battlemaster is not a true vanguard either. Vanguards are weapons centric biotics. They're adepts that like to get in close and do damage. Carnage, IMO is a tech power and therefore shouldn't be on a Vanguard (it's use in the Soldier class supports this). So, no, Battlemaster is not a pure Vanguard. In fact, Battlemaster is currently the only non-pure Vanguard. All the others are biotics...

Well thats is a personal issue. thats what you dont want carnage to be, not bioware decreed it as. It is a combat power, no way around that. So kroguard is the only actual vanguard according to the way some people decide to interpret the class system.

Also its not a tech power because the omni tool has nothing to do with the use of carnage or CS.

As another poster already stated, the Vorcha sentinel pretty much broke the class as it has no biotic powers. No, grenades are not biotics. They are grenades.

Well that poster is only half correct. Vorcha's not a sentinel according to ME2 and 3 because they don't have an advance exploding armor system. You got yer tech (flamer) and you got yer biotics (nades).

Again, not only do older description not mandate both biotic and tech, they also dont specify in what form they have to be present.

So if you get biotic kills from clusters, whatever they are biotics

@ghostwhisperer, you do know that yer argument, and many others, hinges on the SP lore description of a sentinel. So, SP is relevant to this conversation. You can't use something to support yer argument, then discount it when it's used against you. And please, stop being so snide, and try to keep this conversation civil.

What about the shot in the back ? it's cool a shield but if you can't move around with, well ..
this human probably got 800 shield max fit, without DR in platinum it's1-2 shot lose shield, yay tank :)

Sounds like a personal problem.

Anyone who tanks down like that in the open deserves to get flanked and killed.

You don't need DR when you can be utterly invincible from one direction...you shouldnt be getting flanked.

It's a problem for soloing yeah...but i dont intend on soloing.

I also dont give a rats azz about platinum, because its freaking platinum. I stand firm in the idea that things shouldn't be balanced to work in platinum.

Let's try this one more time, folks. I'm going to refer back to the very line used to define Sentinels in Mass Effect 3, copied verbatim:

Sentinels are unique, bringing both tech and biotic abilities to the battlefield.

The Paladin is the first Sentinel who does NOT abide by that definition. There's no disputing that. Let's stop looking to unrelated details in the class description from the first game in the series, personal anecdotes about opting to spec out of Biotics on your Turian Sentinels, and so on. The FACT of the matter is that Bioware established the class as having Biotics AND Tech, not Biotics and/OR Tech. And not having the option to ignore either ability isn't the same as having and utilizing it.

Instead of all the petty, back and forth bickering over whether or not the Paladin remains true to the core concept of the Sentinel class, the discussion should be over whether or not we care that it isn't - at least not fully, and at least not in the manner that has tied every single other instance of the class together.

Personally, I'm disappointed in the lack of Biotics but reserving judgment on the class as a whole until I see it in action firsthand, because as much as I stand by the fact that the combination of Biotics + Tech has been the single most unifying common factor that ALL Sentinels have shared prior to this, I'm more interested in the ability of the class to tank. The shield looks like it has potential, but whereas the Sentinel has always been a frontrunner for my favorite class overall, I'm actually disappointed to find myself more interested in both the Demolisher and Destroyer this time around.

biotic charge is considerate as a biotic and combat move

You know what bothers me? The only class with biotics that can reliably strip shields (overload) get biotics like warp, or grenades, and not powers that they can use to effect those now unprotected enemies (see throw, pull, etc)

@No Snakes Alive, You know, all this arguing is pointless. By making this character, and designating him a sentinel, Bioware has pretty much thrown all the "sentinels need to be both tech and biotic!" arguments out the window. They made the game, they decide whats what. And they decided that the N7 Paladin IS a sentinel. You cant argue against the people that made the game, but I have no doubt some will keep trying.

not realy, any one who know how this game is working can easyly make this guy working around in your brain based on what we know, incinerate, ED and the general gameplay of mass effect, if snape freeze got a defenssiv bonus when use, then he can be call a tank, but if he only have his shield, well think about every situation on gold platinum where you can use it and yea, you can't dps while you have your shield on.

I see a useless tool, getting 1-2 shot dead in the back, otherwise, lots of shots will not go into my shield, just ignore me and go for random teamate, so after a few days, you only use powers.

Tank ? if i want a tank i play kroguard or justicar def bubble.

but wait and see if you want

( sorry bad english)

Well, a lot of people consider melee useless on gold, so at least now you have a character that will use something to help protect instead of go rambo and die. And the fact that the Paladin can do three different tech bursts solo makes him interesting. Try him out first, then see if you like him.

When you play justicar, do you protect your teamate everytime with bubble ? wth the constant move and changing position ?

Well it's going to be worst with this shield :) and you can't dps while "tanking".

yes you can,in theori do 3 different tech, but, no

ED > incinerat you don't have the time, doesnt work

Fire explosion, ok you have to kill with a spell who does what, 400 damage ? lol in platinum with the amount of health it's going to be sink from other real damage dealer.
cryoexplosion, same, but from incinerate, well it does a bit more damage i agree, 600 ~ ( and the evo 6 is still bug since 5 month)

Right now, can you fire explo and cryo every time you want in gold with 3 other peoples ? no

well good luck in the futur.in platinum :):)

Wow, hostile much? The Paladin seems to be a real guerilla warfare style fighter, with two long range abilities, one that even adds shields/temp. armour to yer character, one short ranger freeze all get outta dodge type of move, and a shield that could help with objectives and help you if yer caught out in the open. Might make for a great solo character!

Most of your damage will come from your weapon, the damage from ED and incinerate are allready BAD in gold, he's the same as the fqe postbuff, even badder.

unless snapefreeze does hips of damage like smash

Lets hope for some interesting evolutions to snap freeze, then. I think if it had an option to ignore shields, like lash does, it would make it a great high risk, high reward move.

the shield from what I see would be pretty OP if it could just block Brute charges no problem, even on bronze.

HAH! According to you, a class with Fortification, Inferno Grenade, and Carnage = Infiltrator, if you want to throw the SP description basis out the window.
