Oh my gawd, what an atrocious abomination.

I absolutely can't stand Cassandra. One moment she hates all mages, and learns nothing from her superior Byron, and then the next she's prancing on a horse telling the mage she almost killed five minutes ago, that she thinks mages helping run the chantry would be a great thing.

I honestly wanted to like this movie, but there are so many glaring flaws, like when they were chained up, why didn't they just grab the keys?!

I just can't bring myself to watching it to the end. It just makes me angry.

I think you fail...

...to understand that characters can be hypocrites and that's ok. It's normal, it's human.

I think that compromise is inevitable when you have a world of such intertwined factions, and that nobody is pure. I believe that's the point.

Hardly abominable.

When he said he was a circle mage, she said all mages were the same. Then a couple minutes later, she's bantering with him like mages are amazing. That isn't a character flaw. That's bad writing.

Also, guess you missed the mage pun.

It's called character evolution and unfortunatly if you want some in a 90 minutes anime that span at most 3 days you have to be fast about it.

Cassandra started as somebody who believed the Chantry/Templar propanganda  of "more mages, mean more trouble". There was also her history that colored her view of them. After talking and interacting with Galayn, she realized how wrong she was.

This actually mean that Galayn is the first mage she talked too...

Are you really trying to justify this? Yes, it is quite possible to have pacing in 90 minutes. 2 minutes? And literally right after she watched her father figure get killed? C'mon!

And her character isn't the only problem I have with this movie. It's so predictable. Even the bad guys are obvious.

Also, what on earth is with all of the mages casting crappy spells? And why are they fighting like monks, when attacking templars? Where are the devestating spells? I mean really, they jumped down to attack them, when all they had to do was cast spells from out of reach!

Even with the final battle, the mages look like they're casting something out of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

This movie seriously lacks any logic! No wonder it didn't make it to the big screen.

I suspect they attack the templars with their staffs because said templars are technically innocent. They aren't complicit in the Knight-Commander's schemes.

Also, they're templars.

Cassandra's new tolerance for mages is the result of character development.

A silent protagonist? That would never be successful.

Nope, not at all. Posted Image

The Warden wasn't a silent protagonist. He spoke; you just never saw his lips move. He was less a Heroic Mime and more a Heroic Telepath.

Yeah, I thought she was over doing it at the beginning thou. Still, the short was fun to watch. I did not really expect a lot.

The fact the she destroyed some Golems without trouble still strikes me as the worst flaw in the movie.

I still don't know if it was worth watching it or not.

Although, it was not as bad as Redemption. It gains some points for achieving that.

Well, I didn't mind it at all, it did look fantastic! If the next game ended up looking something like this, I'd be very pleased.

Loved this film. The only thing that annoyed me was the overabundance of enemies. But I headcanoned that away from the plot. So, in my world, there was only 1 dragon at the end.

OP, I am also with you. I recently saw this movie, and I was severely disappointed.

Cassandra is such a witch; I didn't like her at all. The plot was completely predictable. I don't know why ogres popped up when they did (hey look! we need some darkspawn! why don't you throw in a large group of ogres and have them team up with another large group of golems!), and why in the heck are there that many dragons there if they are just now coming back after being "extinct."

Not only that, but Cassandra can easily kill them all (ogres and dragons alike)? I know her family came from dragon hunters, but this was ridiculous (she takes on multiple dragons at the same time? Just no).

I wasn't thrilled with the art style or voice acting, but those were at least passable. I could have easily gotten past that if those were the only issues, but sadly, they weren't.
