Does anybody remember "Order of the Griffon" for Turbo Grafix 16? My buddy had that game, the system sucked but that game was awesome. Kinda got me started on RPGs. Wondering if anyone has ever played it.

1992. That is a long time ago. That game was so hard, but so very fun.

wow, 92 a long time ago? that REALLY makes me feel old...I remember clearly playing on a commodore, and still intact, but hazy the Mattel's intellvision, and a 2600 >.<
but more on topic, Aye I miss the old TSR games ( before WotC got their hands onto the D&D rights) I'm sure DA:O had more than it's fair share of tips o' the hat to many of the titles...I mean, those are the fantasy games of our youth!

The Gold Box series rocked, starting with Pools of Radiance in '88.

Ha, yeah, back in the good ol' days, a hero could die of starvation 5 minutes after eating an apple (or dead kobold). These youngins nowadays have it easy...

I was 13 when I played this game. I remember the Vampire temple was so hard. There was a creature called a Wight. It could suck a whole level away from you. That was cruel. Automatic reset if that happened. We would throw the controller and cuss. Haha the good ol days.

Idd - good old days when games had a challenge, and taking 2 weeks to finish a single game was considered "easy". How the new generation of gamers have changed.
For the better or worse, thats debatable, but it does make you realise that going "mainstream" as gaming has in the last 10 years or so is not always for the best imo.

Ah, the days when the main reason to play was the challenge rather than 1bajillion polygons and brown&bloom.

Yes Order of the Griffon was indeed challenging. I remember it took a long time to get fireball, but when we did it made the game way more fun. We actually stood a chance in battles. I may get an emulator and try to play this again on my PC.
