Dieover, how is he not credible? Now you need to write a whole review and only then can you agree with someone and sound credible? That's new to me.. :)

because i don't think either of you finish the game and I'm not gonna write a review on "bushes floating at elf forest" or "why a group of mobs won't come to me when i pull them 1 by 1". Those are kiddie stuff. Pulling is Bioware way of giving players option to go slow without getting swarm and they also give you the option to Rambo them without being a wussy by pulling 1 by 1.

You're also very wrong stating that some skills are being useless. Name me 5 and I'll tell you how to utilize it, but first you must explain to me why some of those skills are useless to you? If so you must be a cookie cutter thief?

As for me I'm more into the fighting part and the deep decision choice i had to choose; like supporting which side and what benefits/consequence would i get in return etc. I also didn't finish the game yet but i made lots of suggestions and contribution on how to make the next DLC a better investment. =]

I also discovery that DA is all about  "being simple without getting you distracted and yet provide lots of options to you to chose from" :kissing:

Nice post OP. Kinda sums up why I only liked DA and didn't find it great.

Yes, DA is a "good" game.

In particular, it has decent conversations and excellent emotive animations during conversation. It has an excellent combat system and combat rule system -- at least for someone using a party with two mages -- like me..

Unfortunately, the DA world (areas, NPCs, items, chests) has a Hollywood set feeling -- just a facade. These days the standard is "a reality simulator" (e.g. Oblivion, Fallout 3, Two Worlds).

With a lot more detail and "attention to detail", DA could have been the "great" game we hoped to get.

ITT: Pirate steals game, clears conscience by writing negative review.

This is new and exciting.

You know what OP? We agree almost to the damn letter of your post and then some. The game has occasional slices of goodness and bliss but they are far too few and far in between to really make the game stand out. I seriously considered quiting the game when i first entered Denerim because i knew at that point that the whole game design is like "this" but i persevered out of some type of obligation and the idea "this is a Bioware game, it cant be bad". Well i finished the game, it was not bad but it was not good either. It was standing right in the middle for me. A mediocre game that didnt even try to hide its difficiencies. I was expecting much more from Bioware, i have to say that and that the game is dissapointing. It starts off good enough, then it drops down to a crawl then some moments of picking up the pace then a complete dropdown yet again. So many inconsistencies that you just cant shake the feeling (provided you are an avid RPGer that plays all kinds of RPGs and from any country/ company and an experienced one at that) that the game is lacking massively and certain things detracted far too much from the experience. For every 2 good things you found there were 3 not so good things that if we pile them all together made a gicantic hole in the games immersion power.

Now Mass Effect had its own set of problems but it was far more focused, far better realized and far better designed. Much more coherent too and had no problems sucking you in its world and logic. I think Bioware needs to take a page from Mass Effects development and use it on Dragon Age 2 because the story, world and lore DO have potential even if it is a super cliche one at that.

It's a good game. It's not omgbbq the best RPG EVAR though.

I would compare it to the Transformers movie. When it first came out damn near everyone thought it was uttery awesome.

As time went on, however, and problems were pointed out and people re-watched it, opinions went steadily downhill, and now it's regarded by many to be crap.

DAO is like that. First playthrough GREAT. Second third only good, and I noticed problems, some major repetitive parts [Fade Dream] that cannot be skipped, and from the Landsmeet to the end everything seemed rushed.

That said, I am beginning to think that the "Silent Protagonist" needs to go the way of the dodo. I completely understand that the idea was for the player to 'play themself' so to speak, but times change and let's face it, when damn near EVERYONE in the game has incredibly awesome voice acting, it feels very disjointed when someone who isn't the main character gives a rousing battle speech and your character just kind of... stands there.

Anyway, yeah.

I pretty much completely agree.
