Weren't we talking about straight options? Sorry, but Liara is obviously more female than male...

And yes, all of the ME2 romances were shafted. I thought Ash got an okay amount, Kaidan really didn't get that much more, iirc. But 2 of the 4 straight options for FemShep were removed completely. None is generally less than some :)

I know you said you weren't counting Tali, but she really needs to be in there to be fair across the board. Otherwise I could say, Well we shouldn't count Garrus because he got an extra date in there!

ALL LI should have equal treatment. It's just that FemShep got fewer LI's, even the small amount that the other ME2 romances got weren't available.

I agree with what you said  =] and want them to do something like....

-Thane to get more content(maybe go to the Hanar homeworld and if Thane survived he would be recruitable for that mission as well as extra romance content).

-Jacob's romance to be fixed.

-Vega added as a LI.

No, I have to disagree, you can't prove opinions and how we feel on whether his death was good, bad, worthy, and is worth money and time is not proveable. There are no facts. I bet someone out there hates Garrus and thinks someone should have spent more time on him, can't see why, but it is an opinion that can be neither proven nor disproven.

There are no facts to prove. Even the writers would admit that I think.

But yes you can still have a great debate based on what you know and think makes sense to maybe lend your view to another. Debate works. Whether opinions or facts.

But you don't think he should have not at least said no one will mourn me? Or at least a dying kiss at the end?

The facts that I'm talking about are character traits throughout while I do get what you're saying.  Either way I don't have a problem with that and I'm fine if we agree to disagree.  Debates are usually fun to have whether its opinion or fact like you said.  More could have been with Thane while that prayer was a great scence even when he was a close friend with my FemShep. Personally I have no interest as Thane as a LI for me based on how he's just a bro.  At least Thane died to a Starscream, Kei Lang,  then rather being killed off by an Insectacon, Cerberus minion.

That would all be really excellent, so Bioware will likely not do any of it :(. Fixing the Jacob romance would involve some retconning/backtracking on their part, but they have pretty much demonstrated that they are more than willing to do that when it's convenient for the storyline. I hate that they made poor Jacob into such a douchebag.

That scene right there is something that people who don't romance Thane in ME2 are missing completely. I can sort of see thinking that Thane has accepted his death if you do a buddy playthrough with him, even after reuniting him with Kolyat. That scene before the Omega 4 Relay is what makes Thane's behavior in ME3 so puzzling to people who've had him as a LI. Well, that and the fact that he is essentially no longer a LI as far as the game is concerned, despite the little booty call that they throw in to the scene. It's lazy plotting/writing.

I don't.  I know Chris had already left by then, but I don't think C Hepler wrote any ME2 content?  It might have been Patrick, or someone over at Montreal, since they do the DLC.  I wish that person had written Thane in ME3...

I remember the writer made a post once about the letter (I'll dig around later to see if I can find it), and he asked advice from his girlfriend who romanced Thane. It wasn't Patrick, I know that.

I was thinking the same thing earlier, I wish he written Thane too. >:

Edit: I think it's Lukas Kristjanson, but I don't have time to look for his post right now.

Character research is a great thing, aint it?  It seems to me that more and more, J Hepler just played the buddy part of Thane's story arc, and not the romance part, so had almost no idea about it.  From how rushed the rest of the game is, I don't particularly blame him, but it's too bad he didn't get a chance to do more thorough research before writing the character.

@RShara

Not to be a nitpick, but I think it's Chris Hepler not J Hepler.

The love letter from LOTSB was written by Jay Watamaniuk, after consulting his girlfriend who herself is a Thanemancer.

Sorry I've been MIA, but been pretty busy IRL. Anyway, some drive-by thoughts/responses to previous posts:

- Anybody who seriously thinks Thane might've committed seppuku or harakiri is kidding themselves. If that were the case, he wouldn't have bothered taking the Dantius commission. Or the suicide mission. He may have been looking for an honorable way to die EARLY in ME2, but he wasn't looking to off himself. And he certainly wouldn't have considered it after romancing Shepard.

- You do not need 3 elite soldiers to guard one little salarian councilor. Even if you wanted to box her in, it's very simple to have one or more of the soldiers available to help the nice drell assassin. How, exactly? Salarian + Squaddie + Squaddie + Wall. Or Salarian + Squaddie + Corner. Or Salarian + Squaddie + Floor. Or even, Salarian + Squaddie + Other Room. Problem solved. Heck, the VS was sufficient enough to guard two councilors and a douchecanoe. A couple of squadmates should be able to do at least as much as Kaidan or Ash.

I was gonna say something else, but it's slipped my mind. Bah...

The VS would hardly have been sufficient enough to protect two councilors and a 'douchcanoe'Image IPB if Kai Leng had attacked. The VS would have been toast, since he/she would have to try and protect their three charges while confronting Leng. Hell, they weren't able to fight off Eva on their own.

This is, afterall, cutscene version of the VS, not gameplay version. Same for everybody involved. Except Leng. He's a little easier to fight in the cutscene than he is in the actual boss fights. At least on Insanity, anyway.

I agree that the VS himself probably would not have been able to defend all 3 if they were attacked.

However, I think 2 would be sufficient to evacuate 1, since they're only trying to get him away from KL. Just the next room would be enough to get him out of line of fire. Thane and Shep could then have set up crossfire positions-one by the door the councilor fled through, and the other drawing his attention.

And I think that in the time it would take to coordinate this kind of movement, the fight would be over. It's not as if Thane was all that intent on working in tandem with Shepard's team in the first place. He's an assassin, trained to work alone. If someone else gets involved, it might actually make Thane less able to beat Leng.

Course, you and I have debated this topic plenty, eh? Mind as well let somebody else get involved.  Afterall, I agree with most of the things in this thread. I just don't have an issue with the fight scene. It gets pretty tiring, arguing with people you (mostly)agree with. Not that it isn't somewhat enjoyable, in its own way. Devil's Advocate is a fun game Image IPB.
