We're not complaining because of a persional nitpick. We're complaining because of CHARACTER DERAILMENT.

Yet you are and Thane wasn't derailed at all solely based on his character traits and developement.

LanceSolous13 wrote...

He did change. I'm getting tired of you ignoring anything we say. NO ONE is falling for your nonsense. If you want to keep spouting that, Go make an "I hate Thane" thread. Just waste your breath elsewhere.

Its not my fault that you're falling for nonsense instead of listening to the facts.  Its also useless to make an assumption that I hate fan based on how I'm not demanding or asking for changes to be done to Thane.  All I see is more straw-mann supporters instead of contructive feedback supporters.

I see you're still resorting to use the word "troll" even when you're the one thats insulting people and avoiding the facts or opinions from others.

Yet that isn't in the final version in ME3, which it means that it isn't a fact.

Blueprotoss wrote...Yet its supposedly "removed" content from ME2 from a Bioware writer. Its time to move on with this dead horse.

The edit on the left was done by a fan. The edit on the right was done by Chris L'Etoile.
He removed the content on the left and replaced it with the the content on the right.

And guess what? It's still there because it is still relevant. Mass Effect 2 hasn't changed.
This is no "removed scene" from Mass Effect 2, it still very much present.

It is a fact. It is the original writer's intent on the scene in question.

Blueprotoss wrote...

Yet the romance doesn't conflict his belief of getting no cure for his terminal illness and it would still be to late for him based on him being in the late stage.

Err... Thane declining a lung transplant was done before the LM and romance. As in before he began to care for life again. Before "awakening from his battle-sleep" so to speak.

And lore-wise there aren't any indicators wether a cure would be succesful or not in his stage...because *gasp* they don't speak of them!

Blueprotoss wrote...

The only difference is that I focus on the facts and I can separate fact from opinion.  Ironically you would be the waste of time because you don't want to have a debate since you want to have a mindless arguement.

Then by all means explain those facts of yours. Since frankly I've yet to see you use any in this thread.
If you're going to participate in a debate be prepared to substantiate what you are saying.

Again being a LI doesn't matter while the character does and you're acting like nobody likes Legion or Mordin based on a Thane eclipse. Again you're forgetting that ME is Bioware's story not our story.

Really? LI content has no bearing on the character?

Tell that to Miranda/Tali/Jack/Jacob/Garrus/Kaidan/Ashley/Liara fans, I dare you.
Of course LI content reveal more facets to the characters. Like learning that Ashley loves poetry, Garrus has no idea how to compliment human features, Jack admits she can't always stand on her own, Tali wants to build a home on Rannoch. All of the LIs have something that is revealed when romanced, and in those playthroughs this is part of their character. And Thane is no exception to that.

Either way its from a fan and isn't from the writer.  Also you can't figure out the writer's intent from opinion based on how writing is subjective.

Thane wants to die based on his past sins, which is fact based on the basic lore in ME.

Bioware wrote Thane as a sinner looking for redemption that won't stop until he died from his terminal illness whether its the fatal illness called life.

Emeraldfern wrote...

Its all opinion on LIs unless if you're Bioware.

I could careless if anyone has a specific LI while nobody should overreact based on their personal likes and dislikes.

Yet I'm not one-sided at all even when its Bioware's decision not a small group of "fans" deciding something in ME.  Its ironic that you only want to here one side instead of every side.

■21:18, March 21, 2010 (diff | hist) . . (-117)‎ . . Thane Krios ‎ (→‎Romance: Removed sentence which said Thane is ashamed of his past deeds. He is not; he's ashamed that he is afraid to die.)

Thane wanted to die for his failures in his life; MOST HIS FAILURE AS A FATHER AND HUSBAND. You fix that relationship between his son. He has no reason to want to die any longer.

HE OUTRIGHT STATES THAT HE DOES NOT WANT TO DIE ANYMORE.

HE SAYS HE WANTS TO LIVE FOR KOLYAT (AND SHEPARD).

Yet Wikia and Wikipedia aren't valid sources while its still ironic how you're arguing over opinions even when Bioware controls ME.

I love how he's claiming that Thane's original writer's edit on wikia is just an opinion.

God, my sides hurt.

...Is there any way to draw a Mod's attention to this? *rubs temples*

Thane was a Death Seeker in ME2 prior to his Loyalty Mission. Post-LM, He wants to live on for his son (and Lover).

In Mass Effect 3, His change in attatude is ignored. He is resigned for death again. No mention from Shepard over this change. No talk of those previously discussed cures/Chekhov's Guns. Nothing on his status as Love Interest. No nothing.

Chris L'Etoile, The guy who wrote Thane, who created Thane, and knows Thane's Motivation, states that Thane wanted to live by Mass Effect 2's conclusion.

This is called Character Derailment. Say it with me. Character. Derailment. When a Character's previously established motivation, development, or persionality is ignored or retcon'd with no further explination in favor of an out of character direction.
