We could expand it and say Thane should have never been created or should have died in ME2 as soon as you meet him.Han Shot First wrote...
The mistake Bioware made was in even considering curing Thane because some fans demanded it.
Instead they should have just come right out and said after ME2, "I'm sorry that you didn't like that Thane has a terminal ilness, but we consider that plotline central to his character. Other people are happy with where went with him, and we have no plans at the moment to deviate from that."
.
Like the glorified redshirt he was on ME3, there just to extract some nice emo angst for your Sheppard, give him a reason to be brooding and cool.
I stopped liking this clichee plot when I was about 10, but hey, you like it, you are in luck, BW gives players choices. Your Thane can die even before the Suicide Mission actually begins, just decline to take the shields upgrade.

like sure in ME2 before his loyalty mission Thane was ready to die, but after that and the Suicide mission his attitude changes because he has something to live for now his son and/or his LI
Yes and we who took the options and choices and got the extra footage showing how he was afraid of dying and losing Sheppard and Kolyat.. We should have guessed Bioware was trolling us and should have taken a different option. and STFU and quit complaining because... just because..
One thing I agree with Han Shot First. Bioware should have never promoted the cure and should have never added options to romance Thane, if their plan was to make him a charracter defined by his death. They should also have clearly announced that before ME3 went on for sale. I would have never bought it.
Even now, they never say one way or the other. I would rather Bioware came out and clearly said that they love what they did with ME3 Thane and trolololol to you saps that played any romance or friendship in ME2. At least we would know for sure that they are c**ts. Right now we still have a vain hope they will be decent and fix it somehow. -.-

Bioware would never say that, because there on the verge of losing half of their original fanbase
They already lost half their fanbase. They're worried about losing the rest.

"I was wondering if you guys had any future plans in the works for Femshep's romance options. I really miss Thane X^"
But never got a response. Then again I'm sure he gets tons of tweets so it may have just gotten lost.
What's the proper Twitter etiquette on this one? I'm new to this thing.

I say let him keep trolling around and driving fans away. He's one of the reasons I stopped following all the Bioware stuff on twitter.
I'm actually kind of with LT on this.....no need to pump up those all important "clout" scores. I have to wonder if that is the REAL reason they have decided to do so much through Twitter.

I don't pay much attention to Priestly or Gaider. Their senses of humour do NOT match my own.

I think those two I mentioned are the above average intellectuals with no common sense filters or social skills. They may (or not) have lived with the folks for an extended amount of time due to the aforementioned dorkiness.
Really...think Big Bang Theory, without the obvious genius.

A) Either way you do have the power to sway the abuse of words just like some of been abusing the word "troll" since ignoranace will only create more ignorance. It seems like this has become a better place based on lowered tones and a couple ignorant people leaving while I'm not a fan of bullying similar to Will MacAvoy in the Newsroom.
I hope all will be well with your recovery and I'm glad we understand both of our views.
C) To each their own while I'll answer the best I can.
A) I don't know if I really hold any influence or not. I mean this honestly. Unless someone comes out and says, "Hey Squee, you are the reason why I think, "so and so" is a troll.D) Personally I liked Thane's character, prefered him as a close friend like most of my squadmates/crew, and I connected to him being a flawed character on his path of redemption. I have no problem debating with people while some people need to take a chill pill with the "my way or the highway' attitude.
I don't exactly have a "God Complex" issue and believe people will do what I am doing simply because I am doing it.
Yes, I know I am running a campaign, however, I don't believe people are following it because of me, I believe they are following it because they believe in the cause. The cause though, took me months to figure out before submitting into an idea, an idea that anyone can follow... male/female, gay/straight, romanced/non-romanced, personal experience/or not. If I only singled us down into one category, it would have soured some people's mouths.
C) Absolutely, which can be respected.
D) Granted, I have spoken to many romanced and non-romanced fans of Thane. As strange as this is going to sound now, I do understand both viewpoints of the issue. I have spent many months discussing/debating these viewpoints. There are even some key points I have agreed with when it comes to Thane dying. Although, there hasn't been anyone yet to fully convinced me why an "optional save" for Thane would somehow effect a player's experience.
Although my light has not shined brightly in this thread, I have brought up in the past about how both sides may be attacking each other just a bit harshly. I really don't think there is a right and wrong side to this. For a non-romance Thane, his storyline made sense and was done very well. However, for a romanced Thane, his storyline falls flat and came off a bit cruel.
Even if we dropped the issue of saving Thane, his romance still carries way too many problems to be ignored.
I hope we can continue on with this healthily attitude that I believe we have now in debating one another and I look forward to your opinions.
