that through the whole game Shepard is never once given the opportunity to say he'd like to, or would even consider, controlling the Reapers. Therefore, to choose control at the end of the game isn't just out of character for "my" Shepard...it's out of character for every Shepard. I guess Bioware didn't give us this option because they wanted us to be in conflict with TIM, but there could have dialogue options to say (for example) "I think the reapers should be controlled...just not by you", or something.

I don't understand this oversight, given that, say, in the genophage arc, I chose last time to sabotage the cure. But this made sense for my Shepard given that in ME2 and ME3 I had my Shepard state the Krogan are a menace, and had him tell Mordin his work on the genophage 2.0 was morally justified. So, when it came time to cure or sabotage, sabotaging the cure was completely congruent with Shepard as I'd previously established him.

Similarly in the Rannoch subplot. My Shepard always referred to the Geth as mere machines. Therefore it made sense when I  had the quarians blow them out of the sky.

Alas, I amn't given this option with control, so I can't ever choose it as it's totally character-breaking. And that's a shame since I bloody love control in the EC! It's such a sci-fi ending, and has such a dark and ambiguous atmosphere to it. Such a shame.
