Grab and Magnet Hands' magnet grab are different. Many times last night she would teleport next to me, I would combat roll away and then sprint about 100 ft away where I rolled to. All for naught though. All of a sudden I would be sprinting backwards and pulled into her insta kill.
Our over-the-counter grabs don't pull a Scorpion move and yank the non-boss types from across the map like a Banshee can.
IMO,they operate on the same mechanics but due to lag which affects both scenarios,it ends up looking as if the grab execution move is "magnetic".
I believe the a "fist" grab sign also exists for the banshee and phantom so if a player comes close enough to them for that signal to appear to them,as long as they manage to hit it within the timeframe it appears for them, the move will be executed no matter what.
On FBWGG when players are camping at the lower level behind cover, there are plenty of chances for them to grab mooks. However,if there is significant lag,you will notice that your grab does not installing execute.Instead, you will see the mook move further away initially such that the first sign disappears. However, thereafter mook will suddenly be magnetically drawn back to its initial grab position and you execute the move.In cases of even worse lag,you won't see the move being executed but you will see the melee kill message registering and points given.
I believe the same thing applies to banshee and phantoms as well. The moment you ran past them in proximity such that you are within melee grab range, the fist sign poped up for them and they hit their melee execution. However, due to lag,it does not immediately execute but the computer already noted that they have indeed performed a melee execution. Thus you will end up being magnetically drawn back to them just like when we try to grab mooks under the same laggy circumstances.
Only way to avoid is to always give yourself a wide berth from them.Imagine as if there was a layer of cover between them and you...if you touch that "cover",the fist sign pops out for them and if they hit their execution button on time(they will being AI and all that),the move is guaranteed to play out even if you seemingly ran way past them.
