So I attended Comicon, played Platinum, and survived the extraction wave.  Apparently since our group was the first to achieve mission success, I won a Mass Effect 3 Razer headset.  Cool!

Anyways, I can answer questions.

EDIT:  Cal, the Salarian Engineer playing, apparently had a photo of the victory screen.  I was playing a Krysae-wielding Geth Infiltrator using Disruptor Ammo.  Cal was playing a Salarian Engineer with a Carnifex and Cryo Ammo.

Details from the photo on my camera (won't be able to upload it until I get home tomorrow):

Firebase Glacier, Cerberus (until round 3)
35:12
339485XP (as mentioned no bonus due to settings)
130250 credits (low time bonus on account of some hairy device objectives)

208203 Geth infiltrator
56821 Salarian Engineer (myself)
47877 Sentinel
26584 Vanguard

Sorry no details on the others, pretty sure they were both human but was not paying much attention. I was mostly tossing decoy to bottleneck the bigger enemies and snare banshees/phantoms when I could, to keep the pressure off the team and let the heavy hitters do their work.

Tense rounds at times, particularly the last few, burned my last medigel on extraction trying to raise someone in a cluster; just came down to waiting until the last second to burn the medigel and wait out the timer for the successful mission result. Not bad for my third or fourth game on Xbox (and I thought the all-in-one button was annoying on PC...wow moving around was tough to get used to).

Platinum will be soloable. But it won't be easy.

Sorry for the delay, didn't bring anything to connect my camera to. Here's the scoreboard from the match:

Also, funny story--I named my SE Kirrahe. HOLD THE LINE.

(I named the SE on the dev2 box Wiks)

EDIT2:  Missed Connections
So, I was wondering if I could find any of the people who were around when I was at the Bioware Lounge at Comicon.  There were some great people there and I really  enjoyed the whole experience.  I already have phone numbers and contact info for a few of the people who were there (the guys who were sitting on the same couch with me when I beat Platinum), and I've encountered Cal- the Salarian Engineer here on BSN.  I'm curious if anyone else reading the forums was present.

How tough are enemies compared to Gold?

How is the enemy composition when the other factions drop in (equally distributed or not)?

What's the elite enemy density?

Any AI changes you might have noticed (more agressive behaviour, chokepoint holding, etc.)?

How lethal are the enemies comparred to Gold?

Nope.  I got a Chimaera Razer 5.1 headset, not an Onza.

I heard in a vid that from a Bioware employee that you'll have Phantoms and Banshees coming at you at the same time.... Did he just miss speak or are we in for a world of hurt, death, and tears.

outstanding job, Paladin!  It looks like you more than just know the characters and mechanics of this game well.  I applaud you.

There were Phantoms aplenty on wave 1.  And there were Geth Primes, Banshees, Hunters, Atlasses, Ravagers, and Marauders on a constant basis.  There was quite a lot of things to kill, too.  I got over 200,000 points by the end (Second place was about 60k, IIRC), and there were no XP bonuses (we had a set map and set faction, even though setting the faction didn't seem to matter much).

Essentially, it means that faction specific builds aren't terribly useful anymore.

In platinum all factions will enter the match as hostiles sooner or later. So yeah, you can be hunted by Banshees, then run into a group of Phantoms and get stunlocked by Hunters if you're unlucky.

I am sooo going to enjoy that!

How fast is Shadow Strike's cooldown if you have a 200% bonus?

Just out of curiosity, did you use one of the new characters or one of your go-to characters?

No, on my first attempt, I failed on Wave 8 from a magnet grab while reviving a teammate.  However, the teammates weren't lasting very  long and it was very difficult to communicate (it was quite loud in there and the players weren't very close together), and I found myself soloing half of a lot of waves.  I suspect that a coordinated team could farm it pretty consistently right off.

Good grief. What classes did you guys use, and what was the strategy then? You can't stay in cover for too long with out be gibbed, but can't be out of cover or you'll get cannoned down... What map was this, for future referance :P

My question and probably for quite a few others as well will be just how boosted are the enemies on platinum?

We know that enemies on platinum have at least their health boosted but by how much?Do you have a rough comparison?Eg.A claymore X upfront to the head of a mook would have resulted in a OHK on gold but on platinum, mooks can survive such a shot with plenty of health left over?

Also, are anything else about them boosted?Damage?Firing rate?Movement speed?

I believe some others have asked about the amount of credits awarded in platinum.

Is it essential to use the new characters from the earth DLC in order to handle platinum?

Do you think it's possible for one or two good players to still carry a bad team on platinum?

Congrats!

We need a story! What classes were you using, what objectives did you get, and what was the hardest part of platinum?

There was little coordinated strategy (though we'd occasionally shout warnings to each other or I'd call which way to relocate, though half the time people couldn't hear me due to the noise in the room).  It was essentially pub conditions.  As such, I expect to be completing solo runs on Platinum starting on Tuesday.

Nice. Looking forward to playing it Tuesday. Most important question: was it enjoyable? Or was it more of a headache?
