Just saying you might want to delete ypur messages making baseless assumptions you cab say someone told you all you want, but theres still no evidence or accusers otherwise . Im not going to really dwell on this but alls it does is derails the topic and just throws a rumor around. It makes YOU look less like a dbag as well even though you probably arent.

I mean you play mass effect. You should know what we do to disingenious assertions round here. (i know its probably the wrong context but i just really wanted to use that line)

That's impressive, GodlessPaladin.
I knew you were one of the best, but playing Platinum with weak/bad teammates, which is maybe even harder than solo, deserves congratulations.

So, I was wondering if I could find any of the people who were around when I was at the Bioware Lounge at Comicon.  There were some great people there and I really  enjoyed the whole experience.  I already have phone numbers and contact info for a few of the people who were there (the guys who were sitting on the same couch with me when I beat Platinum), and I've encountered Cal- the Salarian Engineer here on BSN.  I'm curious if anyone else reading the forums was present.

Thanks.  Cal- was a pretty helpful teammate though (particularly considering he said he never played with a controller before, since he's a PC player) and I wouldn't underrate his contributions with his Salarian Engineer.  =]

Cool, nice to hear someone beat it. I was hoping it would last a little longer though :)

I'm guessing that for most players it will be harder than it was at Comic Con since our dev kits over there probably had maxed out ultra rare weapons and all the gear.

Someone beat platinum.  Fagnan must buff it!  All enemies now have chance to sync kill, including mooks.  Additionally, just in case someone still makes it to extraction, a mixup with Hackett means the pickup shuttle doesn't come and instead arial bombardment is in fact incoming.  Timer reaches 0, everone is insta-killed.  Critical mission failure.

But on a serious note, great job OP.  That is impressive.

No, no one beat Platinum. A team did. Solo still pending.

I expect people will solo Platinum as soon as they have the opportunity to do so.  There are a lot of really great players on these forums and I would expect players like Sy7ar or Sp3c7eR to be able to do it.

Not saying people aren't stupid, but you do realise that the OP has been updated atleast twice by now, lastly no more then 14h ago.

Yes, i am fully aware of that. but the 14h ago update was just the inclusion of the picture. What classes people played, how much XP they earned etc. was in when i looked yesterday beginning of the Afternoon at GMT+1 timezone. Theres a good 6 pages of people asking for info when the info was already up for the grabs in the OP.

You're right, it's me that usually overestimate the scoreboard.
He wasn't that bad considering that he used a controller for the first time, I would have made a mess with that thing.

hey GP, I was curious about the build setup you used, considering all of the recent reductions to the effectiveness of TC and the few debuffs to the Krysae, and just a few tips on the stategy you use. I'm not familiar with "kiting", etc. No need to give a super-detailed explanation if you don't have time, but any info would be useful.

The short answer is 6/6/6/6/0 (No Fitness) with a Krysae Sniper Rifle X using Disruptor Ammo and sniper rifle amps. Damage/Recharge/Sniper for TC, Radius/Damage Taken/Damage for Proxies, Recharge/ROF/Vision range for Hunter Mode, and Weapon Damage / Power Damage / Weapon Damage for the passive.

The long answer would be a long and detailed dissertation on on-the-fly strategizing and tactics and I am not really up to writing all that up right now.   A key point is to shoot with the Krysae to apply the disruptor ammo, then cause a tech burst with the proximity mine.   The rest is all about movement, situational awareness, on-the-fly strategizing, risk assessment, consumable management, teamwork, priortizing targets, knowing how to optimally handle objective situations, et cetera.

As for "kiting," kiting refers to drawing the attention of enemies and leading them behind you, using this to funnel and guide them in ways that benefit you and your teammates.  It's pretty important when soloing, carrying, or accomplishing tricky objective situations.

Do you feel platinum difficulty was done right? Meaning not a frustratingly cheap difficulty but something that is going to be both challenging and enjoyable?

The changes are certainly more interesting than a simple damage/health buff.
I'm not sure what to say to the question of "done right" though.  I just about always think there's room for improvement =]

One issue is that I suspect the changes may ramp up the difficulty for some classes more than others, affecting the relative balance positions of various classes in the metagame.  I can see a few potential causes for this.  Here are just a few of those factors.

1)  All enemy factions at once!

Some builds are more powerful againts certain factions than others, such as the Asari Vanguard with Stasis Bubble (I'll call these guys Specialists) and other builds are roughly just as good against all factions, such as the Geth Infiltrator with a Krysae (I'll call these guys Jacks, short for jack of all factions).

Now, sensibly enough, the specialists weren't particularly better at their faction of choice than the better jacks in the game.  After all, you could only play against one faction at a time, and it's more sensible for BW to cap the power of a build based on their best matchup rather than their worst.  However, when we throw Platinum's "all factions at once" card into the mix, the ability of jacks to perform excellently against all comers at once becomes a more significant advantage, boosting their relative position in the metagame.

2)   More heavies!

In Gold, you'd only ever have 2 heavies at a time, and even then only on some waves.  Having a character who was great at clearing mooks but struggled to bring down heavies in a short amount of tme wasn't much of an issue.  You could just ignore the heavy bosses until you cleared out the spawn budget then whittle them down as a team.  In Platinum, having Infiltrator-like firepower to blow through these enemies and/or the ability to control them very effectively seems like it will be more relevant.

3)  More sync killers!

Sync kills are more dangerous to some characters than others.  Namely, Vanguards and melee / close range combatants like to mix it up within a few meters of the enemy.  Having half a dozen phantoms roaming around in a pack at any given time would be a serious concern for these players.  How could a melee specced Batarian really expect to have the time to charge up his heavy punch without another Phantom showing up to grab him during the animation, for example?  And of course you no longer have the option of playing against a faction with no sync kills at all (Geth).  By contrast, a Krysae Infiltrator doesn't really mind, since they can pick off the Phantoms from a safe distance.

___

Note that this is all just initial impressions from a couple of initial play sessions.  In order to make any really sound judgments, I'd want to spend more time getting to know the finer details of Platinum with a wider variety of characters.

IIRC that team was the same guy form my photo, one of the BW employees with the N7 nail polish, a younger guy with glasses and short hair, and I honestly don't remember who the 4th guy was at all. I'm guess that must have been your brother in law

Excellent work sir! I salute you! I thought about going down to the BioWare base during Con, because I couldn't get tickets this year and it would have been fun for sure, but I had some other things to do Saturday, and I worked on Friday so I was unable to get down there. I am fortunate enough to live in San Diego so the gasslamp quarter is only a trolley ride away, but during con that place is a war zone.

It was a nightmare to get in for the 7:00 party on Saturday, though (I did my run at the afternoon signing).  Sadly a lot of people were left stuck outside.  I was just happy I was able to do a favor for the guy behind me.  He asked me if I could get his bronze Normandy model base (#1 of 200 made!) signed by the developers when I had an opportunity to go in, and I was really glad to be able to do that for him, since it obviously meant a lot to him.  ^_^

Afterwards instead of going to the remainder of the overcrowded party I hung out in the Hilton lobby with the fans who couldn't get in and played Nintendo 3DS multiplayer games, including my new friend who wanted to get his model signed.  We went at it in Advance Wars: Days of Ruin.

All in all, even an incredibly long line to an event I didn't really get to participate in was a great experience.  It was actually my first time going to a convention and I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to going back next year.

You won't hear an argument from me.  Even after the nerfs the Krysae-wielding Geth Infiltrator is a top tier build, and the nature of Platinum seems like it might actually emphasize that further.

Really sad to hear that CQC builds are going to struggle with platinum, while GI+KY is going to continue to dominate.

Charge really needs a temporary sync kill immunity. and Vanguards are going need more boss killing power except the phoenix.

Agreed.  Nothing quite like being magnet grabbed during a charge while passing over an enemy, lol.
