So what's better DA:O or KOTOR?

They're both great.

If you had to choose one?

I've played DA2, as the icon suggests. I got up to ostegar in DA:O. The place where the horn didn't go..

Then I heard it didn't impact DA2 a lot so I skipped.. well 95% of the game, it seems.

But yes, if you had to decide out of DA;O or KOTOR? what would it be?

Can you romance in KOTOR? lol such a hopeless romantic... Image IPB

I would go with KOTOR but that's because I prefer sci-fi to medieval fantasy.

Yes, KOTOR has romance in it. That's like a staple of Bioware games! However I think it's just the 'screen goes to black' stuff. However, you can romance Bastila who plays FemShep in Mass Effect. Only in KOTOR she has a british accent... mmmmm....

Get KOTOR. It was made before Bioware joined EA.

DA:O was a fluke. It wasn't supposed to be as good as it was. They fixed that problem in 2.

So did I...I bought it for a friend though cos I already owned it.

Oh well...you only could have saved $3.50 anyway so it's no biggie. Also the game gets WAY better after you get off Taris.

^ It it gets even better after Taris, then I'm very hopeful for this game, since I'm already having a great time playing through.

4€, you should buy it. I won't buy any other Bioware game ever thanks to ME3 and DA2 failures, but KotOR deserves to be bought. Besides, you'll see what Bioware really was.

Just try not to look at the screen while people are talking. The facial animations of those days were not good at all.

Statement: Kotor is great game.
Question: Why?
Answer: Because it has a psicopath protocol droid. With 92% possibilities of fun, and 8% of possibilities that YOU (not your character) will be shot to death until it becames so boring.

This, and one of the best plot twists ever made.

That plot twist really took me by surprise when i first played KOTOR years ago, I did not see it coming ,
I wish they would remake that game with new graphics but leave every thing else as it is

I'd prefer the combat be more along the lines of ME2/ME3, but yeah.

Drew Karpyshyn for the incredible story Arc, all the other Writers (Including Drew) creating all the incredible characters and interactions.

It was my favorite game of all time from 2004-2012 until early this year I played The Witcher 2 and it blew my mind away completely and dethroned it.

It has the greatest Plot Twist in the history of Video Games and if it was released with updated graphics I would happily pay $60 for it.

Buy it, you shan't regret it, it's BioWare in its Prime. A prime period which now we are passing :(

Buy it
Seriously buy it
It´s one of the best games from Bioware in my opinion. If you like Star Wars than it´s even a double win.

P.S if you have the money you should also buy the Witcher 2. It´s probably one of the best RPGs released in recent times

Kotor laid the foundations for the pre movie star wars franchise. It also laid the foundations for mass effect imo

Well, my comment is probably gonna receive a little hate...

I have one problem with Kotor: I played NWN: OC right before it.
The memorable plots of two games are almost identical.

It uses the Bioware "four hub model" that lasts from NWN (and its expansions) to DAO.
There is also that eye-candy girl, who is really...not much more than an eye-candy (and in NWN's case, hello miss polygons) of the game in both games you can romance...well, sort of.
You know who I mean, and their plot twists are almost identical.
There is also a very interesting court scene in both games that are very similar, but not as expanded as the one happening in NWN2.

But we didn't have HK in NWN...maybe that girl who got kicked in her teeth counts?

I hope they do a remake. My copy for Xbox keeps freezing in the same spot. It makes me sad, and that game isn't exactly easy to find.

Are you playing on the Xbox 360? I had also problems with it. The sound would cut out after a few minutes play. And Fable would freeze evey 30 minutes. The compatibility isnt the best on it. Good that I have a gaming PC now

KOTOR is probably my joint favourite game, in fact i enjoyed most of biowares earlier releases, the baldur's gate series is what made me fall in love with the RPG genre.

also HK-47 has to be one of my favourite characters ever
