Phft. Force Crush > everything else. What does it do for the curious? It lifts an enemy up rendering them helpless, takes away a chunk of their health and drops them flopping onto the ground. And you can spam it. And it works on bosses.
I'm guessing they didn't have time to balance that either.

Considering the colossal amount of mook spam in the endgame, it would take way too long to spam Force Crush for every single one of them

Force Crush, I remember Darth Sion fight being extremly anticlimactic with that power.
It's only 5,39€ on Steam. I'm thinking of buying it.
But i've heard the game doesn't support widescreen resolutions? Anyone knows if that is fixable through modding even on the steam version? I read somewhere that the fix requres messing with the exe file. And isnce the steam versions are encrypted i'm not sure how great it will work.
Get it. Pretty amazing game, I'm going to have to go against the flow and say that Jolee Bindo, not HK47, was my favorite squaddie. Great sidequests, conversations and whatnot. A lot of people say that the first planet is really boring, I would say that's true for repeat playthroughs. Suffers from the whole Jedi Outcast dealie of spending a long time without force powers or a lightsaber. My favorite character is Jedi Guardian (lightsaber focused) with dual sabers and force speed spam.
Get KoTOR 2 as well, and google "The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod". 2 was made by Obsidian, not Bioware, but it has some very interesting characters in there. If you thought ME3 was tough, they only had 13 months development, a completely new writing team and the lead writer Chris Avellone had absolutely no familiarity with the Star Wars universe beyond cultural memes. It's a heavily flawed game, but given the circumstances I think they did a very good job. Also, Force Storm.
yeah, i liked Jolee, espically his talk about the young jedi who had a 'destiny', shame i had to kill him so i could resume my mantle of dark lord.
oh and KOTOR 2's force crush is the best power ever

I bought it on Steam and I could get it to work with the widescreen patch. I cant give an exact place where you can get it but I found it with a normal google search so it shouldnt be too hard.
So I'm only getting KOTOR on normal xbox, that right?
What about the sequel? Sith Lords?
KOTOR2 is what's known in polite circles as a ****ing tragedy. Excellent writing and a rather unique plot (for Star Wars) crippled by a rushed released date.
If you get it at all, get it for the PC and use the restoration mod otherwise it's an incomplete game. I don't mean just lacking dialogue, locations and plot. I mean the later half of the game feels like an alpha. It uses placeholder models for the last enemies!
what is the mod like? I've never tried it?
I forget the link but you should find it if you search for KOTOR 2 restoration project or something like that. It restored a lot of content, including a whole planet, events at Malachor V and the HK-50 factory.
thanks, i think i'll give it a go. I hated the fact you could go up to the HK-50 factory and then just not get in, espically when HK-47 sets you up saying he's almost isolated the signal to the factory.
does it unlock the locked area of nar shadar? and finish the bith quest about tracing the signal?

lol okay, will avoid that then.
placeholder models in KOTOR2.
sprites in ME3.
Some things never change.
My laptop wouldn't have the slightest capability of running ME1 I don't think. It's more of a study laptop, the audio is terrible. So i'm not sure about getting it.
While we're on the subject, what about SWTOR, the mmo?
The team wasn't able to fully restore the final act (Malachor), my bet is that there isn't enough files around. Kotor 2 is still a great game ... if you fully mod it, which means you'll have to play on PC.
However there's no compatibility issues with win7, also there's no save file transfer, so you can get away with playing Kotor on Xbox and 2 on PC.
but come to think about it, BG2: ToB had such issues too; the original final boss fight of that expansion was very anticlimatic. Ascension mod is almost essential.
I guess that's just unfortunate that ME3 isn't friendly towards mods.
SWTOR the MMO used to be a disaster with the designers forgot or mis-designed some core issues, but it is now finally playable but still only an 'okay' game. Archengeia's review here:
i would say KoTOR > DA:O ..and you just need to play KoTOR2 then. Obsidian did good job considering they were rushed.
but be ready for the outdated visuals. on the other hand characters in DA:O with their plastic wigs were not good either. (at least its not Bethesda with their characters moddeled by drunk blind old man without 2 fingers)
Well, my comment is probably gonna receive a little hate...
I have one problem with Kotor: I played NWN: OC right before it. The memorable plots of two games are almost identical.
It uses the Bioware "four hub model" that lasts from NWN (and its expansions) to DAO. There is also that eye-candy girl, who is really...not much more than an eye-candy (and in NWN's case, hello miss polygons) of the game in both games you can romance...well, sort of. You know who I mean, and their plot twists are almost identical. There is also a very interesting court scene in both games that are very similar, but not as expanded as the one happening in NWN2.
But we didn't have HK in NWN...maybe that girl who got kicked in her teeth counts?
I know what you mean. When I got to the court scene in KotOR, I had that feeling that I've seen it somewhere before.
Someone even made a chart on the similarities in Bioware games.

The locked area of NS has nothing in it. For the Bith quest I don't think there's anything extra there. It is one of the 3 evidences you need to unlock a specific G0-T0 hidden dialogue, which also requires a certain amount of approval, but since no one likes G0-T0 (little story significance outside his personal story, terrible combat, a personality that nobody likes and etc)...and there is only limited opportunities in gaining/losing approval (negative approval works too, sort of the rivalry system in DA2), at least I put his approval opportunities way after everyone else.
I never played it but after my recent experience with Bioware I'm buying the Witcher 1 and 2 which are also on sale. What about you ? Thoughts ? Did the EC heal you enough to make you want to buy more Bioware stuff ?
The EC makes me want to buy from every company except Bioware.

Open the game directory and edit swkotor.ini file (with notepad)
In the [Graphics Options] section look for EnableHardwareMouse=1 and change 1 to 0 EnableHardwareMouse=0
I've been curious about this game, but I'm no fan of anything Star Wars related.
It's a good game nothing too special story wise but definitely worth at $2.50. Kotor 2 though is amazing but it was developed by Obsidian so you can pretty much expect a whole different level of quality in terms of writing, gameplay and characters.
