Ok I finally beat the shades that were giving me so trouble. I finally was able to beat all four.

I made another post that got over 280 responses but not one person told me about a skill called "precise striking" which I had but didn't know about.

I turn on precise striking and I was able to hit the shades even after they debuffed me.

I slaughtered all the shades with ease.

Precise Striking + High Maxxed Dex = Dead shades, no matter what they do.

For the record this was too much work for easy mode.

Did you only invest in archery skills for Leliana? I prefer her as a dual-wielding backstabber, she's doing a busload of damage there, especially if you get her some of the backstabbing skills (lethality, combat movement, coup de grace...). Always let her backstab the one that currently attacks your tank.

Still, without a mage it's a tough fight.

Step 1 : Put the game on Casual mode
Step 2 : When the fight starts micro manage so that EVERYONE is attacking the big one
Step 3 : Micro manage everyone into using every ability they have available

REMEMBER : You can use potions as your other party members too , don't let them die either , well let Lelianna die cause shes good for nothing but don't let the Warriors die

Hopefully this will result in the strong one going down quick , with the weak ones hopefully picked off quickly

If that doesn't work , then do the complete oposite and pick off the small ones 1st THEN go for the big one

If that doesn't work then you are screwed and should just start the game over , it only takes like 1 hour to get back to that point

Edit : So you did it.... I'm absolutley shocked that Precise striking made that much of a difference lol

Taking out the weak ones was the most effective.

My problem was that I couldn't hit them. As soon as I turned on precise striking my attack rating went into the green and they were slaughtered.

Yeah, it may have been troublesome, frustrating, and time-consuming experience. But now you have learned a valuable tactic, and you get the pride of having figured it out yourself, instead of having someone spoon-feed it to you.

The hardest-won battles are usually the most memorable and enjoyable after-the-fact. This is true in real life, as well.

Did you know that STR counts towards accuracy and damage for Warriors? Its better than DEX for warriors

You need a minimum of 36 DEX to dual weild full size weapons at level 12 , but STR is of major importance to Warriors because it will allow you to wear better armor and do more damage and more accuratley at that

In this game "Attack" means "Accuracy" and "Defense" means "Evasion" , something you should know

Wow, I can't let hat pass... whatever you guys do with Leliana, it's plain wrong. My party wouldn't survive without her, she's a main damage dealer and usually survives all my warriors easily. Stop using her as an archer, dammit. <_<

Well let's say 2-3 people are attacking me, that means 3 attacks are happening against me.  With high dex I could dodge almost all their attacks but with high strength I"m taking damage.

Can't both ways be viable?

Oh and when you get a mage to join your party , the 1st time they ever level up teach them Heal and set their 1st tactic slot as "Ally : Health < 75% : Heal" and then you should rarely have issues with getting party wipe outs ever again

No

DEX effects piercing weapon damage (Daggers) , STR effects all others , as a warrior I'm inclined to assume you are not using 2 daggers forever

The armor that you can wear once you have 38/42 STR will make your character nearly invincible , where as all the DEX in the world won't save you from extremely strong opponents like Dragons , and if you do no STR up ever you will be stuck in Tier 2 leather armor forever and do weak damage with anything but daggers

Heres my response to that from another topic

Tonya777 wrote...

Lelianna is the suxX0rz , I just have her around for picking locks and free mana/stamina regen while I have Zevran secretly training in my camp untill he can open locks and become a bard too

(Insert Rocky scene featuring Zevran running up and down a 100 set of stairs in a sweatsuit and stabbing a punching bag with his daggers and doing excercise jump roping then squirting powerade into his mouth here)
(Split screen where the other side shows Lelianna opening a chest and then firing an arrow that hits for 10 damage)

Then bam she gets replaced XD He just does so much more damage than her

Geez so even if I had maxxed out dex you're saying a dragon will still hit me?  I was going to wear fire prot gear and use a greater warmth balm to counter their fire and I was hoping my super high dex will allow me to dodge the dragons physical attacks.   I haven't even fought a dragon yet so I dunno.

Well you aren't actually trying to tank are you?

Point is DEX = Dagger damage and with no STR your Sword/Axe/Mace damage will be low

I didn't plan on using sword/axe/mace

I was going to use just daggers.  But still I see what you're saying.

In a way I am tanking because with dex so high nothing hits me (except these frickin shades).  But even debuffed I was able to dodge a bit. My main problem was hitting them which precise striking fixed.

The specilizations for warrior seem more appealing.

I want to enter a berserker rage with maxxed out dex and pretty much have no one hit me while i tear up the battlefield :P

But I trust you, are you saying that it won't work? Cuz I haven't gotten that far.

*evil glare at Tonya777* Leliana can do that if used right...  So yes, a rogue might suit you better.

If you keep playing on casual mode it will work I guess

But in all seriousness wearing massive armor makes you even more untouchable and you could still have high DEX while wearing massive armor at no penalty to your evasion

Like , if you were in tier 2 leather something might hit you for about 1/4th of your whole health bar all at once when they actually do get a hit in on you

If you wear massive plate and still have high dex then when they do hit you it will be for some un noticable crum

You mentioned 38/42 ..

42 strength & 38 dex?

No

38STR = Tier 6 Massive armor (Some of the best armor in game is in this category)

42 STR = Tier 7 Massive armor

Really the minimums you should get are

Minimum STR : 42

Minimum DEX : 36

After that , you could do all DEX if you really really want to and it would probably be fine

Thanks, this is good info.

And the only reason I was so interested in daggers is the fast swing + the berserker damage.

hehe my attack rating went from red to green and I was able to start hitting instead of missing so much.

I only wonder why did you open new thread when there is existing one on the same subject only in "spoilers" part of the forum.

Try at least 4-5 similar topics in the various forums.
