If there was a 'how many full extractions left til goal complete'
ticker/counter somewhere, Would you be more willing to work at the goal?
(assuming this type of thing would be shown during each Operation Weekend, and also show whatever else the Allied goal would be (ie. Trooper kills, Phantom kills etc)
Some
people might be LESS motivated to play, once the goal is reached, but
some people would be MORE motivated to play, since they see there is
work to be done?
Also bear in mind, people like seeing the
effects of their actions, if a ticker keeps counting up, there is a
constant sense of accomplishment and satisfaction!
Do you think BW chose to hide the numbers from us, or simply didnt think to add the feature?
Why would they hide it?
Would a Realtime Allied Objectives-Remaining Ticker motivate you?

This would be a nice feature for weekend events. IMO it would be nice to see in real time how the ME3 community is progressing. I would personally put in a few extra games if it appeared the help was needed.
This feature would be a nice in game option, but I would even settle for a web based counter.

I think an in-game ticker would certainly help for some of the operations, since many (new) players
( PS3 has no splash page ) don't know there is an operation going on.
I'd personally love to see the progress presented in real time or regular updates when we pass a certain mark.

It would be great to see an allied goal ticker somewhere on BSN... although honestly it would be nice just to see the numbers from the last few events.... I don't think they've told us the numbers since we failed silencer.

Yes it would. Right when the event starts, I can imagine you'd see much progress being made towards the goal, which would motivate you to participate. Ideally, by the time you'd lose motivation due to repetitiveness there'd only be a short bit to go, so you'd think "let's finish this!".
So yes, it would motivate me, but only if the goals are reasonable - unlike the "kill 3 million banshees" goal :/

Yes. I don't like fighting Reapers, so it would be nice to know when i can stop.

Definately would love an in-game ticker or even one on a webpage here on BSN

I would think a real time counter might be difficult, just with so much data coming in from so many places, constantly. I'd even be happy with a ticker that updated perodicly. You know, like, the troops come back from action for a brief RnR and get word of reports coming in from the other fronts. It wouldn't be 100% accurate, but they'd get a sense of where they stood before they went off on the next mission.

Would be nice, yes. Something else that should be added is some kind of clock to show when the event starts/stops, because that's kind of confusing when you live in a far away timezone. I was too early for the event where you had to promote 3 characters (the mission screen appeared when I started multiplayer so I figured it had already begun) I did NOT want to promote my remaining 3 20s, so missed out on a commendation pack and had to relevel 3 classes...

Would be great but it will never happen. BW decides if we fail or win. The Operations have nothing to do with real stats. Thats why the Allied goals are pointless. A Ticker would be really motivating, yeah but could still be manipulated the way BW wants the Operation to go.

Great idea.
Got a funny feeling BW will give us this objective even if we failed this time around though.

I would agree - but i'm certain it's not nearly as simple as that... if it was -- if the game was keeping track AS you go ... we'd all get our packs the moment the goals were achieved.
I think they have to run reports on their logs afterwards to get the data and verify.
that's my guess.
And Lucis4light -- what you said might be the crux of the problem -- no splash page on Ps3 ... i'm sure it's not because they just didn't feel like making one for ps3 .... so if it's difficult to implement even a SPLASH page... imagine implementing the actual counter?
it all depends on what information is sent back and forth to their sever - and how.... and when.
though imagine the other weekends ticker -- when it was 7 million troopers.... you'd be on all weekend just watching that number scroll ever upward.

Anything that tells me how we're all doing on an event is fine.

I would be motivated to play more if I could track our progress. This feature could also confirm when we individually complete the individual goal too. A tick box or a pop up on the screen.

Yes! A counter on the community websits showing time left, and how much was completed would be very, very nice.

Yes, a counter would motivate me.
I've done a few reaper solo bronze runs, and silver reaper group runs, but have spent the last couple of hours against cerberus, because just got tired of reapers and feel I've done enough.
If there was a counter, I'd know where we stand and would happily adjust.
And would be happy if it was updated periodically.

Yes, I would like that. Also, a time ticker that states on the multiplayer main menu how much time there is left before the weekend operation closes would be nice too imo.

I think a system that allowed the automation needed to display such a ticker would HELP THE DEVS who apparently have to check weekend results manually...

oh most definitely -- big time investment now -- much lesser time investment going forward.
then again - how many people work at bioware? i'm sure they analyzed "time to create ticker" vs. "time it will take us to tabulate results of the rest of the weekend events until they stopped" and figured it wasn't enough of a benefit to warrant the work.
