I'm still not sure what exactly Mike thought was going to be so amazing about it.

The problem is that this is a roleplaying game. There should be a way to save Thane, he might die anyday, but this dosn't mean he has to die now.

So roleplaying game = player always being able to avoid consequences if he wants to?

I should have paid more attention to Terror_K -- he was always implying that I don't like RPGs.

In the interest of fairness, it would have been fun for a renegade femShep to fake a repair of one of the AA towers that caused Dr. Cole's shuttle to get hit by a Cerberus gunship, and of course no one would be the wiser. It would cost about 25 EMS points in the end which out of over 7500 is pretty negligible. (renegade +25)

Bioware would never have allowed an option, Renegade or otherwise, to murder a pregnant woman in a jealous rage, and rightfully so.

You, my friend are metagaming.

We didn't know she was pregnant at the time. We just knew the two were seeing each other. We didn't know she was pregnant until we heard it from Jacob back on the Citadel AFTER the mission. Chances are Jacob didn't know until then either.

And it's technically not outright murder. It's just screwing up the repair on something to allow Cerberus to do something for her. It is conceivable that a Cerberus engineer could have hidden on the roof and disabled the tower again, isn't it? No one is going to go back an investigate anyway.

Shepard did kill 300,000 Batarians in Arrival thanks to the Walter's railroad.

I was actually asking why the writers would mention a cure there and never do anything with it.

I see you missed that Thane wanted to die and didn't want a cure since you met him in ME2.

Romance him...

I'm fine without the romance based on how he was a cool character.  No one is free from death even when Legion was a BAMF and died in ME3 as well.

I just corrected you on the "Thane wanted to die".

Just ignore him. He goes into any thread that mentions Thane deserves a cure or atleast more LI related content and begins to troll the place. Just, ignore him as he ignore our arguements.

Wait. So BW 'screened questions' because you didn't like some of the plot points and no one asked them? Why would you go to a convention and ask those questions?? No one would go there, stand up in front of people and start ****ing at the devs. Maybe in your mind during a particularly red flash moment would one imagine themselves doing that, but in RL that's not how normal civil people behave. Grow up.

I'm starting to think he types like that on purpose now. No one should sound so lost in conversation on accident.

That was most likely an isolated incident of course, but the post office worker looked well into his fifties so I don't believe he's a gamer.

Don't sell us folks who are "well into our fifties" short.  There are many of us out there and we are a growing portion of the gaming community. Watch what you say or I'll have to retort "Get off my lawn!!"

I can't really 'metagame', as my male Paragade Shepard couldn't have given two hoots about Jacob's new squeeze. And it's impossible to metagame when making Out Of Character commentary unless you have serious dissociation from reality issues.

And again, Bioware would simply not allow you to murder a pregnant woman in a jealous rage, regardless of if you knew beforehand or not. It'd be like the Modern Warfare 2 airport fiasco, but a billion times hotter and rightfully so really.

Although I do believe that you've got some legitimate complaints, expecting a cure for Thane was a bit silly. The first time you meet him he tells you that he's dying. The next time you speak to him he tells you he should have died months ago, if I recall correctly. He's my favorite romance for female Shepards, but we all knew what we were getting into pursuing a relationship with him.

EDIT: This doesn't mean I don't want more LI related content for Thane, however. I support more content for all the ME2 LI's, excluding team dextro.

First they give us the breath scene and tell us to speculate. Then they tell us that the breath scene means that Shepard survives. Then the EC comes out, and we see our LI not put Shepard's name up, then we get the breath scene and it's said we get a reunion. Now we're told it could be Shepard's last breath again and to speculate. That to me is the big middle finger.

If you did get a middle finger then Shepard wouldn't have survived yet you're the one giving the middle finger because you didn't get what you wanted.

I'm calling it like I see it. The ending is one of the worst written endings I've seen or read. When you leave a trilogy up to a person to head canon, it shows you don't know how to write an ending, or that you just don't give a ****.

I know you haven't read that many novels/comics or watched that many movies/shows based on that statement.

sH0tgUn jUliA wrote...

The ending is still the biggest drawback of the series. The EC sweetens it, but you're still left with a bitter aftertaste because Mac has to have his Red Green and Blue art.

Yet the actual "bitter aftertaste" are the small amount of people complaining still after the hand holding was over with.

"Small" amount of people? You must be new here.

Look around, there are as many, or more (considering how a good chunk remain in the IT threads and a few others) complaining as those that are hapy or complaining about the complainers.

The number's taken a pretty steep dive post-EC. More and more people filter into the 'getting on with their lives' camp.

That's because most that didn't like it have left. I'm only back to see what nonsense they pulled out of their arse's for SDCC. Don't mistake disgust and disinterest for acceptance or enjoyment.

Have they? Most of the fanrage on BSN now seems to be caused by the same usual suspects as the start, but a lot of them have also cooled off. My theory is that tempers simmered and put things into perspective for people. I mean, we're no longer seeing threats of domestic terrorism, for example. Still a bit of melodrama about how the ending made people depressed and/or ill, but that's to be expected.

Heck, even your moving on could be considered acceptance - you've moved on with your life, you don't spend all day moping and rattling your chains like a sad ghost.

Thane wants to die no matter what happens just like Mordin on the genophage, Legion on the concencus, and Miranda on protecting her sister.

Ironically you don't practice what you preach based on you going way off-topic and insulting people.  You also shouldn't ignore people especially when you don't want to hear the facts or the opinions of others that don't agree with your views.

The only people that are lost in conversation are people acting like its my way or the highway.

Agreed and its ironic that some people want Thane to go against his own character.

If thats true then the "false advertisement" claims wouldn't have been dropped by their issuers and you wouldn't be here anyways.

This is very true and I wish that more people actually did move on to stop this melodrama.

Yeah what the hell was that all about? Once more BioWare just saying they have "oh such great things in store" then reveal nothing/lie.

I'm surprised that some people get upset when surprises want to be kept secret.

He did say we could expect "big things".  Well, we did get a Big pic if a Big Atlas on a Big Screen.  That amounts to something, doesn't it?
