just posting so much in a few other threads got me thinking. This is all hypothetical but what would you do given certain situations?
Like you had to sacrifice something very dear and important to you for the greater good, or something else equally as important.
I was in a few other threads on the subject of Alistair and a 'happy ending'. It's unlikely that female pc and he will have any children. assuming he is king and you are queen this is important. so i was just talking about how my character my do an isolde (sp?) and use blood magic to have an heir and then subsequently die short after birth. or she would do some kind of epic quest or something that resulted in a magical baby but left her a quadraplegic, or a milion other things. But whatever NEVER came up was ever putting Alistair in danger for the sake of procreation. I don't think she could do it, no matter how many skill points he had put into coercion.
Or for that matter, if her sacrifice somehow involved Fergus, that would also be a huge no-no. She's never allow anything to happen to her big brother and last remaining relative for her own sake.
Not even that it has to be something of personal gain, but a page out of Loghain's book as "the good of Fereldan/world". Another instance of impending doom upon the world and the only way to stop it was at a cost, a personal cost but not necessarily you. I think it's really easily to do sacrifice when it's your own but when it's something you want to protect but can't, it's entirely different.
how do you think it would play out for the different origins?
City Elves - there's Shianni, Soris, your father and the alienage itself
Dalish Elves - your clan, family? haven't played this origina yet, not sure what could considered to be 'precious'
Mages -the circle, your fellow mages
Dwarven noble - er...i'm not sure what i can list here actually. anyone have any ideas? it's kind of everybody for themselves
Dwarven commoner- your family, perhaps fellow casteless as 'extended family'. not sure either since haven't played this origin either
What about the guys though? What if you found Morrigan later and you had to choose between her or the baby? Who would you save? Your child or your lover? If you chose Morrigan and she hated you for it and you literally never saw her again, would that change your mind? If you had to kill one or both of them "for Fereldan/the world"?
I couldn't see sacrificing Fergus in order to get my noble PC her much needed heir. I don't even think I could see her allowing him to be some kind of hero in order to save the world if that's what it took. He's too important, and she's too selfish. It's one thing when it's yourself that is at great personal risk, but it's something else when it's your romance, family, or friends.
It's a much harder decision when you can't take burdens onto yourself. I think that's why a lot of females also had issues with Morrigan's offer. So asking/forcing someone to take up heavy burdens for your benefit? The benefit of the world? Where do you stand? Ask, force, or keep your mouth shut and look the other direction? Just 'allow' the bad thing to happen for the sake of your loved one and keeping them/it safe? Discuss.
So hypothetical situation...
