Yes, I know there are some pretty awesome players that can solo with an unmodded predator in gold, but you are the exception.
Yes, If you play properly, you should have to use any consumables, again, you are the exception.

I've been helping many players this weekend, sometimes when I play with 3 randoms (which makes it a little harder but more irritating than difficult) but mostly I have a regular teammate with me to make things go a lot faster and smoother. You can send me a request on XBL, my GT is robertlilja2
Specific classes for doing Reapers on gold? Doesn't really matters. Use the class that you like the most, it's all about having fun while playing. But if you want my favorite classes for Reapers on gold here's a list:
- Human Engineer
- Geth Engineer
- Turian Sentinel
- Krogan Sentinel
- Turian Soldier
- Human Soldier
- Batarian Soldier
- Geth Infiltrator (melee)
- Geth Infiltrator (shotgun)
- Geth Infiltrator (sniper)
- Salarian Infiltrator
- Quarian Male Infiltrator
- Quarian Female Engineer
- Cerberus Vanguard
- Cerberus Adept
All other classes are also really good against reapers. Also, I avoid putting points in health and shields because you really don't need to have more health and shields on gold, it's often better to put points in other powers so you can max out power damage, weapon damage and/or melee damage. Because if you come to a point where you have to solo the rest of the wave when your teammates all die it goes a lot faster to complete it if you can do more damage to enemies.
Putting points into defensive abilities on gold actually gets you team killed a lot more than if you all have point in offensive abilities. (like Geth Turret, Biotic Sphere etc.)

There are a lot of players on this forum that have posted their GT for players like you to add them for this weekend challenge. Why don't you just add 1 or 2 good players and play with them? That usually gives you extraction 99% of the time.

Adrenaline Mod III or Cyclonic Mods are your best friend, and I usually wait till wave 10 to use a missile but if I'm having to pick up the pace for a player or two then I'll use them on earlier waves.
You don't need Cyclonic Modulator on any class really. Adrenaline Module can be good to have sometimes, but it's often better to have something that can give you a boost to power damage instead (depending on class though).
On first objective on wave 3, if it's a target objective one player should run up to the spawn and shoot a rocket at it making the next three targets be Mauraders instead of Banshees. If it's a hack either you can have superior fire power and just kill the Banshee before she gets to close, or one player should have a rocket ready while another player tries to play with the Banshee inside the circle until getting grabbed (that's when the player shoots the rocket). If it's a hack then everyone should stay in the circle!
Wave 6 objective won't have Banshees so no need to ever use rockets there. Objective 10 is where the rocket spam should occur. If it's a target, just nuke all the spawns where targets are present, if it's hack wait for both Banshees to get close and rocket them. Since this challenge is about reaching extraction it is wise to save at least one or two rockets to clear the extraction zone if it should be overrun in the last seconds. (head for extraction with about 20-30 seconds left depending where you are on the map)
On wav 8 and 9, if you see a spawn with 2 Banshees, a couple of Brutes, a couple of Ravagers and some other stuff feel free to use a rocket on the spawn to shorten the wave. Be smart though, using rockets on spawns should only be done if there is a big enough mob in the spawn.
