I'm not sure I mean with ME2 you could at least tell yourself this will pay off later or have some impact for ME3 (little did we know it would be war assets that didn't matter). With ME3 you can't really take that approach because the story is said and done. So unless any ME3 DLC has an effect on the ending (which it will most likely not) your just getting DLC for a few more adventures with Shepard and friends(which isn't necessarily a bad thing some people just like playing the game) . Besides it would be a little messed paying for DLC that actually altered the ending when you have players that are well beyond the 3100 EMS ( 4000 was the old limit) EMS (I'm at 11.4k)

I gotta feeling people are going to Youtube the crap outta the DLCs.

Are you saying that you were buying and playing ME2 DLCs with ME3 in mind?

Kinda a few of them did have some intresting story implications.

i kind of feel like when i read a book that is on the end of its journey like harry potter, lord of the rings and so on they really try to tie up the knot and all that has happened will be taken into account in the end.

that is what i had hoped in the beginning when i played for example ME2 dlc, the same thing is what happens with the future ME3 content, in some point trying at least to wrap it up or at least show that everything that has happened will at least show us that it does matter.

this last part is a "decision wont matter" statment so you can just ignore that if you wish.

Unless it changes the ending to something that reflects player choices or at least adds a "reapers die, everyone else lives" ending I won't be getting it.

Most of the DLC I buy is linked to the Elder Scrolls series which adds content post main quest, or expands on the game after the end mission, or with Fallout 3 Broken Steel which fixed a bad ending.

I did get the DLC for dragon age as well because the endings where good, reflected the players choices and felt it was worth buying DLC for, it enhanced an already good experience. I won't give money to a game with the worst endings I've seen in a game.

Wait what? Did you said what I think you said? (Paying net + watching ME3 DLCs = paying for ME3 DLCs?)

Nope while you're still paying money for something whether you're watching it on Youtube or playing the DLC based on how Internet access and bandwidth use isn't free.

Internet access and banwidth use isn't free unless if you aren't paying for it.

I don't pay for the Internet while you act as if the Internet is free and has no extra costs like banwidth use and electrical bills attached to it.  Btw you act as if the only games that connect to the Internet are Bioware games.

One of the first sentences you hear in ME 3 is "you can´t save everyone this time", adding such an option would be a complete betrayal of the story as it was invisioned.

Bioware: Do not appeace the care-bears. It is a one way trip that wil ultimatly see you end up with less mature story-content. No star-wars family adventures, please. I SOO much prefer the hero dies than see him being magicly saved by ewoks.

It doesn't, but its equally annoying hearing both sides of a stupid argument.  Here's a better question, will it be fun to play?  If it is, its worth buying.

The point of ME3 DLC is the same as the point of ME2 DLC - to enjoy the gameplay, be a part of new story, maybe get some new weapon/upgrade. Fun.

While that may be true of ME2..., I imagine that many will simply not see the point of the DLC as the ending[s] are still dissatisfying.

Replaying the journey with new stops along the way, still doesn't change the fact that no matter what it ends the same

Do people who feel no desire to buy pre-ending DLC think they would have felt so regardless of the endings? I can see how the original endings would have made something like Retake Omega worthless, but now that the galaxy is not only saved but preserved, why wouldn't it be fun to Retake Omega? Unless, as I said, you wouldn't be interested anyway. Is a 7 second clip of the mercs running around on Earth going to make that much of a difference?

It is like reading The Silmarillion after reading The Lord of the Rings, or playing KoToR despite knowing what happens many many years in the future of that story universe (despite all your efforts in KoToR the Republic still falls to the Empire). If the rumors about Levithan are true, then it seems like another great story in the Mass Effect universe that I want to see with the potential to flesh out aspects of the story that have always been tantalizing fluff that got my imagination going in the first Mass Effect. Fleshing out this fluff, adding new detail and depth to the universe, filling in gaps of history, to me that is always worth it even if the end point doesn't change.

Could change the context of the ending without physically changing it.

Also, more time in the universe and an expansion of the story. That's worth spending a little money and having fun with the game.

Okay I am going to try to refocus this discussion back to the OP's original intent.

His point is if the endings are tied to the EMS system, and the *possible* reward for playing the DLC is more EMS points and it does not *enhance* the ending, what is the point?

This is due to the fact that EMS is supposed to be the "readiness" of the Fleets/Armies and the completion of the Crucible. It will feel awkward, to say the least, to get the same ending with 9,000+ EMS as someone who only scored 7,000.

I personally will be purchasing DLC for story material, but I understand his point about rewarding us with just more EMS.

Your right, Shepard can't save everyone.  And in the game he couldn't save: Mordin (or Wrex), Legion (or Tali), Thane, Joker's family, Thessia, most of Palavin, a good chunk of Earth, Hammer company and Anderson.

So why can't there be an option (even if it's with 10,000 ems that can only be obtained once you get all the SP DLC's they make) that the scientists were able to refine the crucible enough that only the reapers die with it's use?

Frankly I think it would be a nice easter egg for those who actually buy the DLC's.

I personally haven't been able to play beyond my first Shepard (I have 5 more) because the ending just leaves me apathetic.  I could barely get on to play the EC and see the changes.   I alwasy enjoyed the replayability of the previous ME games, and I don't have that with this one.

The DLC's for ME2 I always considered little add ons post Suicide mission.  Yes, I know they were available after Horizon, but I remember that LOTSB was a post "base" game DLC and Arrival was suppose to be the last DLC in the Timeline before ME3.  I liked them because the story wasn't over, and we had something to do in the timeline while we waited for the conculsion of the story.

With the ending of Shepard's story leaving me unable to get the desire to play the game again, I really don't see the point of getting any new SP DLC's.  I want to, I have the BW Points to spend, but why bother when you know it's all for nothing.

But these DLC's will be taking place before Chronos station.  So the galixy will be neither saved nor presereved when you go to "retake Omega"

Artistic Integrity used in this scenario is a bit of an oxymoron. 'Integrity' implies that Casey Hudson and Mac Walters created that ending because they believed it was the right thing to do. In that case, they are idiots.

Overlord and Lair of the Shadow Broker were both phenomenal stand alone DLC stories that didn't even need to affect the rest of the game yet they were both still amazing, so why can't the Single Player DLC in ME3 be?

If this is true then why do people buy DLC for Oblvion, Fallout 3, Assassin's Creed 2, GTA 4, Red Dead Redemption, Infamous 2, Bioshock 2, Asura's Wrath, and L4D then.

I see some people are meaninglessly beating a dead horse even when Casey has been involved with ME since ME1.  This straw-mann is just as bad as some of the "fans" going after Chris Metzen for Starcraft 2 even when he started on that franchise since SC1.

This is very true while LotSB is top on my list of ME DLC.
