I cannot figure this out.  I've made a number of conversations without ever having any trouble with the temp VO or Face Gen.  I've done custom VOs for conversations and never had a problem.  The fact that this is a conversation between three NPCs with no player character present seems to be the issue, but I don't get why.

Here is what my log window shows for this "Generate VO Local" attempt:

I: 00:31:10 - Success: Local post of placeholder voice over data for conversation family_cutscene_conv
I: 00:31:10 - RPU process completed successfully.

Here is the log file for a conversation I exported after that one which works fine: (this one is a regular conversation between the PC and an NPC, not a cutscene):

The text in red is what's missing from the broken VO generation.  Any idea why that would be missing?

Um... the text color change appears to be busted. Everything between "Beginning to process rules" and "Rules processing complete" was supposed to be highlighted.

OK I figured it out. I opened up one of the single-player conversations that had no player character present and discovered that the conversation has to have "player" entries in it or the VO won't generate.

So after each line of NPC dialogue, you put "[CONTINUE]" and then have the next line branch off of that and so on, so that the entire conversation is just one long branch.

And now I realize that was dumb enough to put a little girl in the conversation. Hmmm. My niece is 9 and she does plays and stuff at school. I'll probably bribe her to do it at Christmas. And there'll be a convenient USB mic handy, since I bought her Rock Band for the Wii.
