I have faith in the DA team, simple as that. Bioware is just a corporate entity when you're on the outside but the DA devs seem a lot closer to the community than the ME team and I'd say Legacy and MOTA proved that they do listen.

By giving us stories where our choices didn't matter? If they were listening to us, I think we should have been able to have different outcomes, rather than having pretty much the same conclusion via Dragon Age II's "two" endings.

Think of it this way: Hawke's involvement will likely be made far more explicit when talking about Legacy and MotA, in later media.

Bioware has a long history of game making, that, if they follow the strengths of the past, they'll make an excellent game.

Those strengths are, and have almost always been

1. The ability to tell a great story. Jade Empire, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Baldur's Gate, Mass Effect 1, these games cemented Bioware's reputation for the ability to tell a great story.

2. Loveable characters. From Black Whirlwind and Henpecked Hou to HK-47 seeking to eliminate organic meatbags, Carth Onasi in his ever present quest for vengeance, Silk Fox seeking to restore the Empire to its former glory, Ashley Williams wanting to restore her family's reputation, Kaiden Alenko being cool-minded and also open-minded with alien species, Liara the archeologist becoming Liara the Shadow Broker-bioware games have a long history of great characters that we can learn to love, or just love to have with us because they make such hilarious comments.

and 3. Serious themes portrayed through implications and scenery. Jade Empire had the ruins of Old Tien's landing, showing an entire town abandoning many people to death, from the orphanage to the Quarry. The abuse of power from the Emperor and his family, and even the possibility of what happens after death. Betrayal from a loved and respected person, and even philosophical ideas that are compelling...if the gameplay followed through on them. *shrug* Mass Effect dealt with racism...er, speciesism, exploring new possibilities, politics, and the fact that no matter what you (or the character in the game) want to do, there is no way to win 100%. Sacrifice must be made.

I think Bioware's biggest problems lately have been trying to include as many kinds of gamers in their games, and have been forgetting their strengths by trying to do too much.

They have time to improve this. Their games aren't open-world like Skyrim, but the stories and characters by themselves usually made up for it. I believe if they go back to focus on stories and characters, everything else can fall into place.

After the graphic designs, script writing, and voice acting occurs of course. ^_^

Notice that all of the examples you used were BEFORE they teamed up with EA? Bioware as it was in its glory days is LONG GONE. They even had a large round of firings there lately. I doubt any of the original teams are left anymore. Just a bunch of EA lackeys using the Bioware name.

That's true. But EA still wants profits. IF they're smart (and I'm not saying they are) then they'll let Bioware do its own thing. With Star Wars: The Old Republic providing money monthly from the internet, that should provide enough profits to keep EA off their back long enough to make a quality game.

Or at least that's me being optimistic.......
.....:?

Hey, EA! Back off Bioware and let them do their thing!  :D

To address the topic. No I don't. After the debacle that was ME3, that was DA2 and the horrible story telling of ME2 with no real plot. No real overarching storyline and even Casey Hudson admitted that ME2 was just a mish mash of short stories about the characters and not about the actual story or plot of ME2. No I don't have any faith in them any more.

As long as they don't try to make it Dragon Age II: Skyrim then I'm not gonna think either way.

Not really, no. I don't mind being a Seeker at all- it's obvious there is something beyond the Fade, perhaps your character is looking for answers, or he/she was given to the Chantry at a young age and thus knows nothing else. But if they don't take their time- don't add small background conversations with your companions (even if you decide NOT to romance them) have fetch quests, general DA2 crap, etc. then I will be sad, and DA3 will be my last Bioware game.

Really? Are we going to have this discussion again? You say the choices don't matter, you complain constantly about Hawke not being pro-active. I don't care, so it's not an issue for me. Put simply, it's a problem for you LobselVith, but I don't give a damn about you, I only care about me. I'm the one spending my money on the games I play, so I only care if something is a problem for me.

There have been so many meandering discussions on this thread already that I'll just address the OP's original question: Yes. Yes I do.

If you didn't care for DA2 it's easy to criticize (constructively or otherwise) However, for those of us who have had a chance to *really* talk with the Dev Team and Leads (I have to a greater, and lesser, extent) it's clear how much they love this Universe and how much they want to deliver an awesome RPG/Storytelling experience. For me they did so with *both* DAO and DA2. With what's been learned from both, no doubt in my mind DA3 is going to be something pretty bloody spectacular.

Depends on what you want them to deliver. If you want them to deliver a good story and great cinematic i think Bioware have warranted your trust. If you instead are interested in them delivering a good role-playing experience, probably not so much. This is obviously just my opinion.

People are expected to share their thoughts and views here. If I see Bioware give us two DLCs where our choices don't matter, where the two endings are virtually identical, where Hawke permits the villain to leave no matter what, then I'm going to address it.

That's one thing that bugs me about the ending. It seems Bioware are set on us making a new protagonist in every game. Then why not have atleast one ending where the war between mages and templars starts but Hawke dies. Let's call it the low EMS ending *wink wink* :police:

(*Chuckle*) At least we could trust the DA Team to do it right and not go the "your Hero is ****'d over somehow in every ending" route, i.e. the game that won't be named. In Origins you had the option for the Heroic/Tragic death *or* Super Mega Happy Ending. Above all else, *that's* what I want to them bring into DA3. Give us the choice of how we want things to end and please don't tack on a "sacrifice required" for the aforementioned happy ending (I don't really see giving Morrigan what she wants as being a "Sacrifice"), and please don't shoe-horn us or go tragic for the sake of shooting for an Oscar.

Do I have faith in Bioware to deliver? Not really, but I don't have to buy DA3 the day it's released. I can wait a few weeks to read reviews. If they make a good game then I'll buy it. If not, I'll skip it. That's the approach I'll take with every Bioware title from now on after DA2 and ME3. Which really just puts them in the same category as every other game company for me. I hope they make an amazing game, but I'm not hopeful.

Do you still believe in reviews after DA2?

If BioWare still believe in the strength of storytelling like they did with $500M investment SWTOR and Cinematic action ala JRPG, they will continue to pursue a market that is no longer thriving.

It's 2012 already. Not 1997. Final Fantasy 7's days are long gone. It's video game. Players want to play games. RPG-er want to play a role in a RPG. Just give them that and stop treating video games as movie or novel. Stop railroading players through illusion of choices in a story-driven RPG. Return to player created character and player choices through D&D, PnP experience or similar system.

JRPG cinematic games and Final Fantasy 7 days are long over. Even Capcom are switching to WRPG's model through Dragon Dogma. If Bioware continue to believe in cinematic linear story with completely meaningless player's control over their OWN story, they will never rise. Instead they will fall like the rest of JRPG developers wannabe. Cinematic experience and 90% story ala SWTOR is not the way.... Not anymore.

Like I said, players want to play a game and RPGer want to play a role in a RPG. MMORGer want to play with Massive players, NOT massive empty servers or massive meaningless stories ALONE. That's the most important thing to a gamer. Not story or voice acting. Just look at Skyrim as a proof. Cinematic story only good for once or two. Gamers and RPGer on the other hand want to play more than once or twice because games are not cheap like renting a $10 movie or novel. It's $60 so I expect to be able to replay the game 6 times, at least, with different characters of MY OWN, different stories through series of choices and different endings. or just provide me with a toolset for me to create my own story.

Can BioWare deliver such games?

I highly doubt it.

I believe that they will deliver. Sure Dragon age 2 was rushed and ME3 was dumbed down compared to it's predesecors but they were still both good games.

To be honest I think Bioware would just like to release a game now where there isn't huge fan backlash.

I feel that me personally will not be happy with Dragon Age 3 simply because I loved Origins and wanted 3 to be like that. I loved my Warden, I loved my team, I loved the setting, game play, story, music, everything about Origins. I hope Dragon Age 3 lets us explore more and has a better story but honestly unless I get my Warden, Leliana, Alistair, and Morrigan back I am not going to be 100% happy.

I still can't believe Bioware made Dragon Age 2. The fact that it was allowed to be published as a game instead of an expansion pack is still beyond me.

Honestly, no, not any more. I believe the storyline will be just as linear as DA2 and I believe the level of player control will be as restricted as ME3. Its almost as if DAO and ME were freak accidents which didn't turn out the way BW had planned because both underwent changes which imo were so radically unnecessary it was bizzare. So I think now they're on the path they wanted for those franchises with the autodialgue, linear storyline etc and I dont believe they will deviate from that.
