 I'm getting an extra 20FPS.

How?  I went into the Nvidia control panel  -> manage 3D settings  -> Dragon Age

There is an option called "Threaded Optimization".  It says it allows the program to take advantage of multiple CPUs

I have a dual core so I thought I'd try it, forced it on....  Wow.  Big difference.

Give it a try!

Wasn't there a similar tweak that involved editing a .ini file? Or was that a different game? I'll give this a shot.

Isn't it set automatic in the control panel? So DA:O should be already utilizing Dual Core?

Runs fine multithreaded on my Q9550 using default nvidia settings. But hey, if it does the trick in your case, good for you mate!

"Should be"...  yes.  Is it?  Doesn't seem so.

Having zero problems with my dual core or my Nvidia card, resolution is set to 1680 by 1050 60Hz native... everything single option maxed, smooth as butter and that system is 2 years old and running on Vista 64. Using this driver 190.38, if that helps. But I did make sure all my components were Vista compliant and from quality manufacturers.

I don't generally reply to forum topics, but I wish to point out a flaw in a previous statement. It does work with Steam version of the game if you go into your steamapps/common/dragon age origins/bin_ship folder and select the DAOrigins.exe.

This is a feature that should normally be set by the driver's profile anyway. As long as you're running the latest version of Forceware you're not supposed to have to force this setting.

That being said, there's nothing wrong with indeed forcing it in the profile settings.

I'll remind everyone using nVidia that nHancer (www.nhancer.com) makes setting these kinds of options much easier.

I turned this on ages ago but I think I turned it back off immediately as I took a big HIT..but I also bumped up every other setting on that menu lol...

I'll have to try that tonight even though Im mostly done with DA:O except maybe player mods.

Anyone using Steam should manually add the .exe to the profile list. The nvidia profiles only consider the default path to the .exe. Add DAOrigins.exe found in \\\\Steam\\\\steamapps\\\\common\\\\dragon age origins\\\\bin_ship and adjust the properties at that point.

I haven't had time to test my game, but anyone who does should at least start with that.

I did that and worked for me. And, even better, it appears that it solved another problem that I told here:

Can we sticky this or something?  At least until a patch officially fixes multi-core issues.

Been a happy dwarf since this suggestion came up. Hahaha, I just couldn't believed that I overlooked this one, man I'm so pissed in relying on DAO to manage the gpu settings.
