Second place? Probably a tie between BGII and Dragon Age: Origins.

To me, ME3 is only great because of the payoff in terms of story arcs. If I hadn't have played the previous titles, I wouldn't have been invested in that sense of payoff.
ME3 is my favorite because it's an emotional send-off to the characters I grew attached to in both ME1 and ME2. As a stand-alone game I wouldn't say it's the best Bioware game ever. But it's definitely worth saying that the Mass Effect series is the best series Bioware has ever created. In fact, it's the best sci-fi I've ever been invested into.

But that's because of the entire trilogy. Because of moments such as Virmire, the Suicide Mission, Rannoch and Tuchanka.
And because of characters I have grown to cherish over the last 5 years.
My Top three Bioware products, all equally dear to me:
ME Series
DA Series
Jade Empire

Hell yeah.
Although there are other sci-fi franchises (and some old book series) I think I still prefer, Mass Effect is up there. The emotional sendoff in the game is absolutely great for the most part. Without 1 and 2, I wouldn't feel nearly as much, but I can't fault the game for that. It was built around that idea.

It has some great merits(Specifically the Combat and Consequences due to previous games), but I would say no.So was this "the best game Bioware have ever made" ?

Yeah. As a stand alone, while it wouldn't have hit quite the same lows, it also wouldn't hav had such high points, IMO some of the best in the trilogy. While I can't get over the errors I thought it had, overall it was a good game, far from BW's worst (and they generally make good games anyway.)MegaSovereign wrote...

Here's a better question:
"Is Mass Effect 3 BioWare's worst game?"
No, that title belongs to pokemon in space aka Mass Effect 2. Pointless waste of time. Even Dragon Age 2 was better then this pile of crap.
There is no best game: Kotor, the first Mass Effect and Dragon Age Origins are equally good .

As much as I loved Bioware's other games, none of them packed the emotional punch of Mass Effect 3 because they didn't have characters that already felt like old friends from two previous games. That's just impossible to do in a single game. (Baldur's Gate II did have well-loved returning characters - that's one of the reasons it was so great - but the BG series wasn't as much about its characters as the ME games.)

Reading through this had made me realize how badly I need to play Baldur's Gate
Watch this, it's the prologue for Baldur's Gate. It alone blows just about every other video game story out of the water.
Then watch this scene, it occurs after the short prologue gameplay sequence a few minutes into the game so it isn't really spoiling much.
And that's only in the first 10 minutes or so of gameplay. Right now a company is making a Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition with updated graphics and gameplay so it may be worth holding off for a while. Although the old graphics really aren't that bad and still hold up well enough to play it today.
Man, talk about nostalgia ...
