Excuse me while I go to a corner and start laughing at this question.
(Remembers Ray Myzuka's statement on how this was Bioware's best work. Laughs harder)
So was this "the best game Bioware have ever made" ?

Baldur's Gate 2. Everyone saying Origins is either under twenty or doesn't game on the PC.
Honestly Baldur's Gate 2 wasn't even as good as Baldur's Gate 1. Let alone NWN, Mass Effect and Dragon Age: Origins.
How was it worse than BG1. It did everything a sequel should do in that in made the game better in every way without changing any core mechanics (cough Dragon Age). It was an amazing game, don't get me wrong, but it was only better in the sense that it came first; same way Doom was better than Doom 2.
Additionally, all the things that people complain about in DA2 vs DA:O are a continuation of what DA:O did to the mechanics of the infinity engine games (more focus on action and less on story/exploring, "consolized gameplay," etc.). The gameplay mechanics of BG were crafted so well that they lasted through 5 critically acclaimed games (bg1/2, iwd1/2, and ps:t); the mechanics of DA, NWN, and ME couldn't even last through their own series.
Both are great games, but I personally prefer the story, characters, and environment of Baldur's Gate 1. I liked the wide-open game world and hidden nature of many of the side-quests. I also liked the complexity of Sarevok's plan and the subplots involving the merchants guilds, flaming fist, and grand dukes. BGII is still great though, I don't have any major complaints about that game although I was sad to see one of my regular BG1 party-members get killed off and to see two of the others get completely omitted from future mention.
Yea, those are valid points. Either way both are amazing games and it's a toss up of personal preference which you like more. But both are better than ME, DA, and NWN; of that I have no doubt.

Haven't played NWN, JE, or KOTOR. Go ahead, drown me in moonshine and light a match, but I am not a huge Star Wars fan.....I loved the original Star Wars (I was born in 1969, so I did actually see the original in the theatre, numerous times...ok seven times...is that numerous??), but I have never found the over all series and subsequent games, to my liking.
On that note, I will present the following as my favorite BW games (oh, and side note....BG comes near the bottom only because I never actually owned it, and merely played it with the one gaming friend...besides my husband...who owned them. Been too long for me to remember much.)
1) DAO
2) ME and ME2 (I like them both about the same, but for slightly different reasons.)
3) DA2 (yup. I enjoy this game....simple as that.)
4) BG (again, don't remember enough...one day I'll find a couple copies and replay)
(I reserve the right to PUT JE and KOTOR here if I had actually played them
.
.
.
at the bottom) me3
*side note* I not only had a problem with the beginning, the auto dialogue, the journal, the bugs (had a craptastic number of them), the look of my Fem!Shep, and character elements that were lacking, but I also had a problem with the games mechanics. I point this out because unlike some that have pointed to me3 mechanics being superior, I actually had a lot of issues with that damn "A" button (yes; console user for ME), and my squadmate on the right never did anything unless I ordered them to....constantly! Even shooting...meh.
Regardless; never finished a play through of me3......pity.

Joke post?
The original NWN was just an RPG maker toolset with a bare-bones complimentary rpg.
It had a great story, amazing characters, engrossing world and fun gameplay. I don't understand what more you want from an RPG.
I can still remember Aribeth telling you her life-story almost off by heart. Even though it's just standing there as she drones on several times. Also great moments like *Minor spoilers incoming*
Going through the acadamy, setting up a date, learning to play only for everyone to be massacred and for every important NPC + the 2 introduction videos emphasisze how important and dangerous the wailing Death Plague is.... then you take control and take two steps in Chapter 1 and hear
"Why, hullo there! You have the smell of a prospective employer about you. Not that it's easy to smell anything with all the burning corpses in this city, mind you. Never seen this many flies outside of a calimshite alehouse."
Why do I remember this? Because it's interesting dialogue, interesting characters and well told with great voice acting. It also had a great marriage between single player and multiplayer.
And Hordes of The Underdark was great.
Only downside to the game is that the combat gets dull. There's too much of it. Luckily most of the fan modules picked up on this.
I'd put NWN way up there.

Not even close. Easily the most disappointing game they've made. BGII is their masterpiece, followed by KOTOR and ME1.

ME2 was good but did nothing productive to the main story. For best ever

2) ME1
3) Dragon Age Origins

Not their best. It was good, but not their best. I preferred ME2 to tell you the truth.
I'd say their magnum opus was probably Baldur's Gate 2. One day I'm going to play that all the way through again.

I think DA2 tops ME3 in terms of bad games, but they are close. ME3 could have been a good game, if it wasn't for the ending. EC or not, the ending is still crap. Replacing the plot holes by others and making the end options even more obscure didn't really help. To me the best in the franchise is ME1.

Considering the EC, ME3 is a very good game. I prefer ME 1. However, ME is the greatest game serie ever made.

Kotor was Bioware's greatest work. It was directed by Casey Hudson and written by Drew Karpyshian for god's sake. And they CREATED Mass Effect!

as a whole I would rate the game series fairly high. It is unmistakeable the effort that went into the artwork, soundtrack, and character development of ME3. However the story line falls short in the end even when the blanket of "artistic integrity" is used. ME3 poorly thought out ending detracts from the overall series even with the EC.

It feels too rushed and unfinished. If it had another year, we might've gotten side missions/loyalty missions instead of a billion fetch quests.

"the best game Bioware have ever made"
Not a chance. Mass Effect 3 was easily the weakest of the ME trilogy. If ME3 is the best that Bioware can come up with currently, they haven't much of a future, in my estimation.

Firm minority here but Dragon Age did nothing for me.
ME1 is BW's best game, followed by BGII, JE, and BGI.
