Setting up tactics for your companions can drastically cut down on the need for micromanagement, but I've found the tactics options lacking sometimes.

For example, there isn't an option for "enemy surrounded by X number of enemies" - which would be needed in order to, for example, set up a tactic where a mage casts winter's grasp on a single enemy that is in the middle of a pack of enemies, for maximum effect.

There's only the "Enemy clustered" option, but it only allows you to use AoE spells, not target a single enemy in the cluster of enemies.

Another improvement I'd like to see is, instead of the "health/stamina/ally health/etc. at 10, 25, 50, or 70 %", a sliding scale, where you could set up a tactic, for example, healing an ally who's health has gone down to, say, 32%.

If not the scale, then at least give us something in between the values - the jump from 25 to 50 percent is huge, and I've often found that 50 percent is too high, and 25 too low.

That's the suggestions I have off the top of my head right now, does anyone else have others?

A tactic makes a character flee when fighting a type/number of enemies.
one of the reason I don't use Tactics is because, when left own their own, character always seem to get themselves in fights with the largest number of enemies. This would at least get rid of some of the stupidity.

I personally turn off all tactics for my companions except for attack, which I set to ANY ENEMY.

I like to micro-manage my companions on the fly during battle, it's much more effective. Especially since on Nightmare it is impossible to just let you companions run wild because more likley than not they will kill/stun/freeze you or one of your companions.

The health idea is pretty cool though.

My minor grips:
1) Fix tactics reordering.
2) Option to skip tactic if it will inflict friendly fire.
3) If spells that require sustained modes are fixed, it'd be nice to have a simple way to activate mode, cast spell, and deactivate mode in a single go.
4) A toggle that would enable/disable tactics for controlled character. I play on nightmare only and like experimenting with tactics and then watching the results. There are a lot of fights where I just switch to the support character (or the most useless) and keep pressing R (or run around in circles) while other party members do their thing.

There is 'Activate tactics for selected character' mod for DAO but nothing like that for DA2.

Never liked the grouped enemies tactics.  To many times I have had a rearline member charge forward springing traps or getting surronded because of them.

More tactics and more variety of tactics to choose from.  I love the (I think this is the name of it) advanced tactics mod for DAO and how DA2 did away with having to put skill points into a skill so my companions could have more tactics.

Oh, and now I remembered:

The one tactic I'd MOST like to see is "Stay within X meters of party member Y".

This way you could set every one of your squishy party members to keep within "taunt" distance of a tank.

1. Agreed. I don't want to see my party members standing around doing nothing in a fight.

2. Personally I think that avoiding FF (and avoiding detected traps) should be a standard feature of the AI.

3. Agreed. I'd also add on that the activate/deactivate animation for mages should be shortened down a bit in combat to parity with Warriors and Rogues.

4. Agreed. I'd enjoy having the ability to turn the controlled party member's tactics on or off. Setting up the behavior of my team is one of the best parts imo.
