Hi there,
I have a copy of DOA - it's a legit one from steam.
I've been playing along fairly happily, but now that I have completed the mages tower the brecilian forest and orzammar I figured it was time to do Denerim - but now If I try to cross the denerim markets as soon as I get near the tent thing in the middle where the vendors are my game freezes and I have to ctr+alt+del and use task manager to kill it. Save games in Denerim arent working...
So I figured hell I'll wait till a patch fixes it or something and finish off my minor quests and then do the landsmeet
So today I got to Arl Eamons Estate and fired up the save the queen quest that you get from that maid.
When I go to leave the estate I get the choose party screen and once I have clicked on accept then it seems like the games starts to load the next area, but the loading screen lasts forever... So I'm thinking it's frozen again
Can I please have some support to get my game working again? maybe a patch? this is V annoying!

I am not sure if this is related to your problem, but I had a problem with save games in Denerim as well and found out that the only way to load them is to first load a save from somewhere else (e.g. the camp) and then load the Denerim save. Otherwise the game just crashed to desktop.
Hope this helps!

yup I know of that problem and workaround... I know I can't load a denerim save but this is in game if I walk past the market the game freezes - but more importantly how can I fix the arl eamon thing? thats game over for me!

bump - could really use some help...
is there a proper way to gain some support from the devs?

I am having the same problem, unfortunatly loading a previous save doesn't help... as soon as I get to the market it freezes also, and so continuation of the game is abruptly ended. Any help would be most appreciated

Have you tried disabling SLI or lowering the graphical settings? Denerim is one of the most GPU intensive areas.

I personally lowered settings, still having trouble.... re-starting the game doesn't help either. I have managed a run through before, with no problems. No crashing or freezing witnessed... the only thing that I seem to have noticed, is since downloading the DLC it seems to have slowed, and only really since downloading wardens keep. I am also running the game through steam..
I noticed you are able to disable DLC in game, perhaps I should try this and see if I can run through? Thanks for your reply Jiron.

I've had lots of problems in Denerim too. I havn't had trouble loading any save games in Denerim but if I go inside a building and then go back out, the game screen fades to black and seems to be loading because there is a little "loading" message in the bottom right, but it never loads, it just hangs (I let it do that for 45 minutes once to test it). My fix for this has been saving before I leave a building in Denerim, then shut off the game entirely and restart. When I load the save and exit back outside to Denerim it loads fine. The only time this hasn't worked is ****SPOILER**** if I try to do the Goldana quest, after the cut scene when you first enter her house the game just stays in perpetual Loading mode even if I save right before entering her house. I hope they fix it because I like Alistair and want to finish his personal quest.

I made it through an entire play-through of this game without ever getting this, but now on my second run I've been getting the same thing in Denerim.
I'm guessing it's some bug from one of the patches because my first play-through was done without trying to update anything. I just applied the 1.02a patch hoping that might help, but it hasn't.

Hey, just a quick update... after becoming quite infuriated, it seems I solved my problem!
For those who are running it through steam, I checked properties and local files then selected for it to verify the integrity of the game cache... found 7 faults, and now I can run through Denerim as well as load a game within the city! In full graphics also.
I shall do my second test in a moment, I decided to role a Dalish Elf whilst I hoped there would be some fix to the problem, and alas, -----SPOLIER------ I couldn't even get into the ruins without freezing on the load screen.
I hope this is of some help to those here with the same troubles!

Thanks Bbobsan. Your workaround fixed my Denerim issues as well as tittiemcgee's.

I've also encountered this problem recently :/ None of the solutions here worked for me, unfortunately.
As I was trouble-shooting, I kept asking myself what I had changed recently to cause this problem.
At first I was certain it was the Warden's Keep add on because that was the only major change in my game files since the problem began occurring. I tried disabling the add on and messing around with it for several hours. I had no luck.
Then I remembered a minor change I made in one of the INI files... I got sick of the intro movie when you load the game up, so I disabled intro movies in My Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Settings\\DragonAge.ini
It was the last thing I could think of that I changed, so I was like what the heck I'll switch it back
DisableIntroMovies=0
Sigh, it worked, lol. How can something so simple cause such a nuisance? >_<
The game has been smooth as glass.
If this solution works for anyone let me know, I'm still shocked it worked for me XD
PS. sorry wall o' text :X

Yep, I did work!
Just enable the intro movies and that's it!
Thx a lot!

Disabling the intro movies did not fix my occurrence of this problem. I have already ran through the game once with no issues. Did two Nvidia driver updates including one this evening and Denerim is crashing repeatedly. Unacceptable.

Whenever I get the crash in a certain area (Denerim Market and sometimes Dalish Camp in the Brecilian Forest), when I change 4xAA to no AA, then it seems to work fine.
