Clearly, there is definitive proof it was not EA's pathetic servers that booted them.

It is likely that disconnects are a major part of this.

(Had two matches where I got disconnected on Wave 11. Argh!!!!)

And if I don't want to have to look over imbeciles who can't handle themselves..?

You brought up a very good point. If there is one other reason I would quit a match halfway other than lag, this would be it.

I have no issues with very low N7s (<120) playing in gold matches provided they actually know what they are doing and are willing to put in genunie effort.Just because they have a black widow 1 dosen't mean they are ready for it.

I will start the match with them but if it turns out they are dying too often early in the round due to inexperience(ie situational awareness) or a lack of punch (low level weap/mods without amps, etc) and they expect to be carried to the end of the match in such a manner,no way I'm going to endorse it by sticking on.If they don't even bother to use their nuke or gels, I don't even have to think about it,I'm out.

So I should be punished because I refused to stay on in a match to carry a scrooge who can't do diddly squat even though I gave him the benefit of doubt in the lobby?Hmm,maybe I should start vote kicking low N7s as a protective measure then.

A legitimate concern.
I might admit my 1st post was overreaction over so many games wasted, whole weekent I was trying to push through gold. Didnt happen. I was reall, REALLy annoyed. Because ppl dont use medigel  wave >5, they dont use missiles when swarmed by brutes and banshees. they run for kills or whatever, then one must locate their bodies so far apart that its not funny, and then the ragequit...

I do not know if its possible to do something about it except on a player to player basis - to educate other gamers. Dunno.

Its over either way, no commendation pack for me again.
Now am at work, its monday, got other problems and assignments on my plate so last weekend is water under the bridge.
I just wish I did something other than play those pug's and waste so much time.

3 people may not all quit, but if the host leaves, most people seem to press the only button available to them (exit).

I had only one game this weekend where the host quit. That seemed legitimate. The game started acting wonky. We were rubberbanding. One player couldn't move but was revived infintely. I couldn't revive people I was standing on top of. When we managed to get through a match, the downed player stayed down rather than auto revive.

Eventually the host bailed. Unfortunately it tossed everyone to the menu so we lost everything.

For myself, I usually try to stick it out to the bitter end.

I agree with hangman. I too have encountered many games where noobs expect to be carried. People ramboing out so far till their bodies cannot be located. When no one revives them, they bail. I don't mind if its bronze but leaving a reduced team for gold is simply not funny....

I think they were disconnects. I only played a little on Sunday morning, but 3 out of 4 people in my lobby had their Xboxes freeze at different points, which is strange that it happened so frequently in the matter of an hour, because previously it's only ever happened twice to me and I've been playing since release.

It's worse when the host gets diconnected / quits in-game, it boots everyone else out

In Halo or Gears of War, you'd be right.

But remember, EA's servers are ****.

I get lagged out or disconnected a lot; thanks to Virgin Media...

Edit: In the last 2-3 months i've NEVER disconnected because of the servers being broken. It's all now just because of my stupid wireless... :pinched:

So, wave 11, everything was going according to plan. That was until I darted across the room only to be greeted by a teleporting banshee from around the corner. I literally ran right into the wench, who then decided to see what I had for lunch.

Instakill (which still seems like the dumbest idea in the game) on wave 11 silver. So i did what any rational adult would do. Match quit, exit game, go make a sandwich and cool down.

Since I couldn't be revived (instakill - great idea!), what harm was quitting? Serious question

I seriously doubt that there are many players out there who will willingly quit on wave 10 or 11. Especially not if they've been playing productively up until then.

With some exceptions, though:

No harm done (unless you were the host, in which case you deserve to be spanked), but what's the point of not waiting for those two minutes and getting the credits (and xp, if that's relevant)? Heck, you could not quit and make that sandwich anyway.

I didn't feel like sticking around, I guess. I believe the term is ragequit?

I know i got disconneced a few times, usually wave 10 (always great!) I think this would make it too complicated to determine who quit and who got disconnected, but I feel your pain.

Well, that is of course your prerogative, but I wouldn't use the world "rational" in that case, since the rational thing to do would be to get up without quitting, and leave the game to finish on its own so you'd get the payout :P

Some form of penalty would be nice (maybe).
I've been playing since friday and couldnt FINISH ONE GAME because of those worms.

They lose all their consumables. Punishment served. You, however, can choose to stay in the game, finish it, and cash in - at least some of the credits if you die midways. Should be enough to cover the cost of amps and medigels.

Hosts can fall out for a number of reasons, rather blame the ************* who press exit whenever the host goes down, so nobody is left in the game.:?

I lose connection in about 25% of my games. The EA servers are really crap, it didn't seem more unstable this weekend though, just the usual for me at least. I'll actually never quit on purpose even if the team is really bad, I might however not be very motivated at that point and the game finishes on its own quickly. Then again, I rarely have to carry the entire game, if that is needed, the entire team is in serious trouble :-)

Dear Bioware.

After this unfortunate weekend I must admit that rather  frustrated I am seriously fu.king pissed off.

You NEED to adress the issue when people press quit match button. Some form of penalty would be nice (maybe).
I've been playing since friday and couldnt FINISH ONE GAME because of those worms. Just now hosting player left at 10th wave (so the rest followed). And I'm talking all pug gold games.

After spending so many hours with the game I lost count how many matches was that - ALL UNSUCCESFUL.!

I bet I'm not the only one here.

BTW you still didnt fix the cover and floating above it + air running/levitating D:

There are a few problems with implementing a penalty for people who quit. The thing is lots of people get dropped out of games on a regular basis with error messages saying stuff like "you've lost your connection to the Mass Effect 3 servers" or "your connection to the EA servers was lost". I experience this ALOT and I know tons of other people who experience this even more than I do. And it is not my Internet that is bad. I can play games like Uncharted 3 just fine online with no drops at all. I don't know what EA are doing but their servers are epic fail. So what you are suggesting would punish people like me who don't quit on purpose. We get dropped out of the game because EA can't get their servers to work properly. Why should we be punished for something that we haven't even done?

I agree that there are people out there who quit for no reason, but keep in mind many people get dropped out of the game because of EA server issues.

Then you also have to consider that there are legitimate reasons for quiting as well. If you end up in a game where you lag so bad that you can't even line up a single shot then don't you think it would be better just to leave the match? Or if you get stuck in a wall even though you are not using a Vanguard. There's not much sense for you to just sit there if you are stuck in a wall and can't get out.

As you can see if they do add some kind of penalty for quiting then they would be punishing some people unfairly. I think the best thing Bioware can do is implement a system where the game detects how many players are in the game at all times and if players leave the game then it reduces the difficulty of the enemies to compensate. That way if you do end up in a match where everybody else leaves during wave 8 or whatever then at least you still have some chance of making it.

It's really not that difficult to have the game increase and/or decrease the difficulty of the enemies according to how many players there are in the game. There are games that have been doing this for many years now. Heck, Diablo 2 does this and how old is that game?

No

People have every right in the world to quit out of something that they don't enjoy. It's even worse when you get punished for having bad internet.

Mass Effect does not need a quit ban/punishment. It's a dumb idea. Take Halo for example. Bungie implemented the quit ban to penalize quitters for leaving games, because the game doesn't have join-in-progress. But what if you lag out? Is it "fun" to get punished for something that you may have no control over?
Kind of glad Halo 4 has join-in-progress on some playlists.

I was playing with a guy earlier, whom went down once, wave 2, and was literally yelling. It was pretty funny. I got him up, and next wave he went down again, and this time he just went apesh**t crazy. I got him up again. Wave 4 he gets stabbed by a Phantom and I don't hear his usual fare, I checked and he quit. It was amusing, but no one else joined, and with myself and 2 randoms, whom one of which was good, the other went down frequently, we wiped wave 7.

If I get disconnected on wave 10, you want me to get another penalty for something I can't help - on top of losing all the credits I just earned? :(

I sometimes quit if some ex-cerberus character lashes their whips non-stop right next to me. I feel like my screen is going to fall of the table.

Headshotting is hard enough without someone waving their space magic whips next to you. go find some other place to slash...
