And if I don't want to have to look over imbeciles who can't handle themselves..?
You brought up a very good point. If there is one other reason I would quit a match halfway other than lag, this would be it.
I have no issues with very low N7s (<120) playing in gold matches provided they actually know what they are doing and are willing to put in genunie effort.Just because they have a black widow 1 dosen't mean they are ready for it.
I will start the match with them but if it turns out they are dying too often early in the round due to inexperience(ie situational awareness) or a lack of punch (low level weap/mods without amps, etc) and they expect to be carried to the end of the match in such a manner,no way I'm going to endorse it by sticking on.If they don't even bother to use their nuke or gels, I don't even have to think about it,I'm out.
So I should be punished because I refused to stay on in a match to carry a scrooge who can't do diddly squat even though I gave him the benefit of doubt in the lobby?Hmm,maybe I should start vote kicking low N7s as a protective measure then.
I might admit my 1st post was overreaction over so many games wasted, whole weekent I was trying to push through gold. Didnt happen. I was reall, REALLy annoyed. Because ppl dont use medigel wave >5, they dont use missiles when swarmed by brutes and banshees. they run for kills or whatever, then one must locate their bodies so far apart that its not funny, and then the ragequit...
I do not know if its possible to do something about it except on a player to player basis - to educate other gamers. Dunno.
Its over either way, no commendation pack for me again.
Now am at work, its monday, got other problems and assignments on my plate so last weekend is water under the bridge.
I just wish I did something other than play those pug's and waste so much time.

I had only one game this weekend where the host quit. That seemed legitimate. The game started acting wonky. We were rubberbanding. One player couldn't move but was revived infintely. I couldn't revive people I was standing on top of. When we managed to get through a match, the downed player stayed down rather than auto revive.
Eventually the host bailed. Unfortunately it tossed everyone to the menu so we lost everything.
For myself, I usually try to stick it out to the bitter end.

Edit: In the last 2-3 months i've NEVER disconnected because of the servers being broken. It's all now just because of my stupid wireless...

Instakill (which still seems like the dumbest idea in the game) on wave 11 silver. So i did what any rational adult would do. Match quit, exit game, go make a sandwich and cool down.
Since I couldn't be revived (instakill - great idea!), what harm was quitting? Serious question

With some exceptions, though:
No harm done (unless you were the host, in which case you deserve to be spanked), but what's the point of not waiting for those two minutes and getting the credits (and xp, if that's relevant)? Heck, you could not quit and make that sandwich anyway.Elder_Jefferson wrote...

I know i got disconneced a few times, usually wave 10 (always great!) I think this would make it too complicated to determine who quit and who got disconnected, but I feel your pain.

Well, that is of course your prerogative, but I wouldn't use the world "rational" in that case, since the rational thing to do would be to get up without quitting, and leave the game to finish on its own so you'd get the payoutElder_Jefferson wrote...

They lose all their consumables. Punishment served. You, however, can choose to stay in the game, finish it, and cash in - at least some of the credits if you die midways. Should be enough to cover the cost of amps and medigels.hangmans tree wrote...
Some form of penalty would be nice (maybe).
I've been playing since friday and couldnt FINISH ONE GAME because of those worms.
Hosts can fall out for a number of reasons, rather blame the ************* who press exit whenever the host goes down, so nobody is left in the game.

Dear Bioware.
After this unfortunate weekend I must admit that rather frustrated I am seriously fu.king pissed off.
You NEED to adress the issue when people press quit match button. Some form of penalty would be nice (maybe).
I've been playing since friday and couldnt FINISH ONE GAME because of those worms. Just now hosting player left at 10th wave (so the rest followed). And I'm talking all pug gold games.
After spending so many hours with the game I lost count how many matches was that - ALL UNSUCCESFUL.!
I bet I'm not the only one here.
BTW you still didnt fix the cover and floating above it + air running/levitating D:
There are a few problems with implementing a penalty for people who quit. The thing is lots of people get dropped out of games on a regular basis with error messages saying stuff like "you've lost your connection to the Mass Effect 3 servers" or "your connection to the EA servers was lost". I experience this ALOT and I know tons of other people who experience this even more than I do. And it is not my Internet that is bad. I can play games like Uncharted 3 just fine online with no drops at all. I don't know what EA are doing but their servers are epic fail. So what you are suggesting would punish people like me who don't quit on purpose. We get dropped out of the game because EA can't get their servers to work properly. Why should we be punished for something that we haven't even done?
I agree that there are people out there who quit for no reason, but keep in mind many people get dropped out of the game because of EA server issues.
Then you also have to consider that there are legitimate reasons for quiting as well. If you end up in a game where you lag so bad that you can't even line up a single shot then don't you think it would be better just to leave the match? Or if you get stuck in a wall even though you are not using a Vanguard. There's not much sense for you to just sit there if you are stuck in a wall and can't get out.
As you can see if they do add some kind of penalty for quiting then they would be punishing some people unfairly. I think the best thing Bioware can do is implement a system where the game detects how many players are in the game at all times and if players leave the game then it reduces the difficulty of the enemies to compensate. That way if you do end up in a match where everybody else leaves during wave 8 or whatever then at least you still have some chance of making it.
It's really not that difficult to have the game increase and/or decrease the difficulty of the enemies according to how many players there are in the game. There are games that have been doing this for many years now. Heck, Diablo 2 does this and how old is that game?

People have every right in the world to quit out of something that they don't enjoy. It's even worse when you get punished for having bad internet.
Mass Effect does not need a quit ban/punishment. It's a dumb idea. Take Halo for example. Bungie implemented the quit ban to penalize quitters for leaving games, because the game doesn't have join-in-progress. But what if you lag out? Is it "fun" to get punished for something that you may have no control over?
Kind of glad Halo 4 has join-in-progress on some playlists.
