That picture is pure demagogy since you are comparing romances like femShep-Kaidan with others like broShep-Kelly/Allers to make that propaganda more eye candy.

Not all the romances are really comparable. This is true. However, you can't ignore the inequality. Male Shepard has great romances also, but he also has a lot more choice in the more minor romances, and can also continue all ME2 romances (regardless of how good or bad they are) while femShep can not.

I can understand them wanting to give Thane a heroic send off, which they did (more unique romantic dialogue would have been great though...), but what they did to Jacob seems pretty harsh, whether he was popular or not. I can't understand their reason for doing this... And having more lesbian options then straight options for femshep doesn't seem fair. Especially when you consider that certain choices throughout the series could leave straight FemShep players pretty lonely in ME3...

I won't argue with you because you are 100% right.
I just wanted to comment that picture.

I think my view on Jacob romance being carried over can be summed up by how the one LI in ME2 who actually says 'I love you', asks about your problems, and otherwise is given the virtues of 'stability' is the only romance in the game to abandon you for someone else.

Jack sleeping around? Not out of character, so long as it didn't form an emotional connection. Miranda? She's always used all of her assets to her advantage. Tali? Let's not go there. But Jacob?

It's just one more of those evidences of how poorly planned the sequel to ME2 was, in how they created a product but had no idea how they wanted to carry it over.

Excellent post Dean. Facob, that's my name for Pod-Jacob, annoys me. If wish I weren't a completionist or I'd skip the mission. He's literally fighting for his life and doesn't use his biotics once.

The ME2 cast on the whole got the shaft. Only Mordin and Legion got treated well in my view. Yes they weren't squadmates but at least they didn't seem like tacked on after thoughts. They way ME3 is written. Miranda, Jacob, Samara, Kasumi, and Zaeed all should have been on the squad.

Thane's health was a legitmate reason for him being on the sidelines, doesn't excuse his lack of content though.

Grunt is the commanding officer of Wrex's most elite battle unit. Visiting him in the Normandy med bay would have been a nice touch. A few missions with his team would have been even better.

Jack is leading her biotic students into military conflicts. Although I don't see why there couldn't be a few important missions that had Shepard teaming up with Jack, LoTSB style, to aid them.

Miranda is tracking down her father and his Cerberus ties. Which could have have been done from the ship. The Normandy was after Cerberus. The Shadow Broker is on the ship. I mean it would have been a no brainer.

Jacob literally has nothing to do after you rescue the scientists he was protecting from Cerberus. He wasn't working on the Crucible. The best way to keep them safe would have to carve out a space in the Armory and help Shepard and Miranda take down Cerberus.

Samara actually says she's going to join your fight after the Monastery mission. So is she waiting for you back on the Normandy? Nope. Is she on Thessia locked into Mortal Kombat with Tro Leng? Nope. I mean if she's going where she is needed most the Normandy and/or her assaulted homeworld is where she should be.

Zaeed is a mercenary for hire that wants revenge on Cerberus so bad he takes any job to screw with them. So what does he do? Does offer up his services to Shepard. Does he make that soniva**** TIM burn? Nope he just does his best "gangsta" lean on Citadel docks.

Kasumi is so worried about indoctrinated Reaper agents that she goes against Keiji's wishes to give evidence to the Spectre tracking her down for arrest. Surely someone that goes to such lengths to aid in the fight against the Reapers would rejoin Shepard to save to galaxy. Oh wait Shepard "roped" her into a suicide mission. It's not like she knew it was a suicide mission and joined in exchange for help acquiring a certain greybox

Grunt and Kasumi bother me the most. Most of the ME2 guys can't join you for reasons that are stupid because there's no reason their goals can't be achieved alongside Shepard. But at least their goals make sense.

Grunt, on the other hand, explicitly and repeatedly rejects the idea of hanging with the krogan throughout ME2. When asked why he follows Shepard before his loyalty mission, he says, why not, she finds the best fights. When told he can have a battlemaster once he's an Urdnot he proudly proclaims Shepard is his battlemaster, for she has no equal among his own race or any other. He doesn't give a crap about the krogan, and he's not remotely leadership material; he's a grunt, who looks to Shepard for direction and is proud to do so. She is his Anderson and she kills Reapers, what possible reason would he have for leaving her side to punch a bunch of Cannibals with some random krogan, even if he actually were plausible as a squad leader, which he's not?

Kasumi's even worse. Suddenly she's a coward? She's the single most fearless squadmate in ME2. She's the only one who doesn't believe it is a suicide mission, who never questions Shepard's ability to get everyone out alive or sits around moaning about how these are her last days, who spends her time aboard the SR-2 gossiping and writing haiku about Jacob's abs in the midst of Collector body horror and millions of colonists dying. To suddenly say that this irrepressible, bold, incredibly self-possessed and resilient woman is lol too afraid of Reapers to help Shepard is the most base, insulting spitting on her character.

And yet still not as bad as what they did to romanced Jacob.....

Very true. Also good points on Grunt. Although I think being in the Krogan equivalent of the Navy SEALs would get him into some good fights ;)

I agree, totally unexpected of Jacob to just dich Femshep for Dr. Cole. I mean, It really doesn't fit his character from ME2. What were they thinking? I do not play as Femshep but even I think that what Jacob did was really low, really out of character. It also doesn't make any logical sense that Jacob would dump THE Commander Shepard for an ex-cerberus scientist. I liked Jacob better in ME2.....Image IPB

Simple the person who wrote Jacob is also the same one who thought Deception Kai Leng was an improvement over Retribtuion Kai Leng -since it's clear ME3's get his inspiration from-

I just...I don't get the train of thought that lead to them deciding to take the character in this direction and no it's not in character before anyone says it is. And if they needed to show infedility why not use one of MShep's NINE female LIs?  He can lose one with little to no trouble. Oh wait because that wouldn't be nice. So why do that to FemShep? Bleh.

The fans are more to blame for this than Bioware.

Jacob got the Mako treatment. Enough fans complained about him loudly enough after ME2, that he ended up on the cutting room floor for ME3.

Then the proper resply would be to give him a smaller role unless romanced. No derail him for anyone who actually did like his character.

In ME2, I didn't love Jacob but I didn't activly hate him either. He was just there for me.

ME3, is the same thing....Till I was mindlessly playing insanity and suddenly though "Oh. F---. They didn't! Oh god! They didn't! Please tell me they had the sense not to do so!" resulting in a quick pause and YouTube Search with a disheartened "....they did...." in reply.

Now, playing ME2 for the millionth time, I can't look at Jacob at all. Even if I do play a Bro!Shepard, I just look at him and can't help thinking "If I was playing a Fem!Shep and romanced you, You'd cheat on me! Bastard!" Does he still bring up naming the baby Shepard even if you romanced him? That's....That's just aweful. "Hey! I cheated on you and kocked up this hot scientist! Can we name the baby after you?"

Also, locking the thread without any needs because of cursing and ete would mean they KNOW the problem is there. That would be a really bad move....

Yes but we should be ready with a new thread just in case, I can almost sense Chris lurking in the corners waiting for an excuse to lock it down for, maybe a bad word?....

wow, really? He names the kid with his affair like the woman he cheated on? That is just cruel indeed.

It's like BioWare stomped the character in the ground completely on purpose: full-scale ****ed up. There is no way it could have been worse, really.

I admit I never liked (or hated) Jacob but I really feel with you, Jacobmancers.

I find it especially amusing that Jacob, the least liked squadmate of ME2, is the only ME2 squadmate that can't die in ME3. That guy deserves his own troll face.

Basically this. He has one of the most meaningful romances in ME2 and they do this to him? Sad for Femsheps, sad for Jacob fans in general.
