Cannot wait for what Leviathan has in store for us in the music departmen. Even if you're not buying it for whatever reason, the music will probably be amazing.

Instead we get someone leaning far too hard and often on Mr. Sad piano and it gets a bit boring.

But besides, I love the score. "An End Once & For All" is beautiful, the only good thing about the original ending infact. The Extended Cut score gave us some even more fantastic pieces. ME3 will easily have the best score of any game in 2012.

Loved the music, the audio team on this game really outdid themselves.
I really like the sound track to ME1 too, but this one comes damn close. That's not to say that ME2 was bad, it was really great too.
Well done Sam Hulick and team!

For ME1, I loved the space music (selecting planet destination), and enjoyed the rest, albeit not as much as the music in ME2.
For ME3, I liked the music...but there was nothing that grabbed my attention like the drums and bass for the Collectors.
It's sort of like hearing the "Emperors' theme" after hearing "Imperial March" for Star Wars. Sure the Emperor is bigger and badder (more time with bass drum, timpani), but the music for the underling was more memorable (better blending maybe?).

I liked it, it combined the science-fictiony music from ME1 with more epic music from ME2
My only beef with the Mass Effect 3 score is that the different themes played in the various portions of the game don't seem to easily fit together to form longer, coherent tracks; I think that's why I favor the Mass Effect 2 soundtrack so much: many of the tracks were at least 4 or 5 minutes long, which makes for more enjoyable listening out-of-game.
Still, I very much enjoyed the Mass Effect 3 score, and I sincerely hope that EA/BioWare takes it upon themselves to release more music from the game; they would be foolish not to capitalize on such an opportunity as.our love of the music.

I think ME3 definitely has some great tracks in "A Future for the Krogan" or "I Was Lost Without You". But I don't feel like any of them come close to the epic tracks of ME1 and ME2, like "Vigil" or "Suicide Mission".

ME2 with all its DLC > ME3 > ME2 vanilla > ME1
They're all superb though, and ME1's ending theme is still the strongest for sure. I kinda wish I could move that track to ME3's ending instead... nothing like 10/10 credits to really push me over the edge.

Let's not forget about "An End, Once & For All", the EC version was enormously enhanced from the original one.
The original really doesn't work very well on casual listening because that last thirty-five seconds or so is just blaaaaring to drive home what was going on in the vanilla endings. The EC version though... oh so damned lovely.

Perfect combination of the sci-fi, electronic feel of ME1 with the big action and epic feel of ME2, with a new, sadder sound that I just can't find anywhere else.

Yep. I implore anyone and everyone standing firmly against Leviathan for any reason and every reason in the book to at least YouTube Sascha's new tracks. The man is phenom.

That being said, ME3 had some phenomenal tracks as well, and was one of the best parts of ME3. "A Future for the Krogan" is a masterpiece of gaming music, "I'm Sorry" will bring tears to your eyes, and the ending of "A Cerberus Agent" really drives home the feeling of helplessness the game was trying to create. Mass Effect 3 may have left a sour taste in my mouth after the original ending, but the music left my ears in awe.

Suicide Mission IMO is the best and most fitting theme in any video game ever. It plays at the best moments of ME2, and just gets your adrenaline pumping. "The Illusive Man" was also a perfect theme for the titular character as well, and really emphasizes his mystery.

Suicide Mission is my favorite sci-fi track ever. I grew up on Star Trek, so orchestral sci-fi themes are what I most strongly associate with the genre. I didn't have an apreciation for electronica at all before my late teens, so I guess that's why I'm more enamoured with ME2's soundtrack than all the others. I do appreciate ME1's synth, though, most definitely, and I'm glad that feel made a return in ME3's soundtrack. But ME2, IMO, had the best soundtrack of the trilogy with a good balance of synth and orchestral score. My favorite tracks being Suicide Mission, Tali, The Illusive Man, Combat Troops (Overlord) and The Long Walk (Combat). Holy cow, no other track from the other soundtracks tops those in my books.
My favorites from ME3's soundtrack are A Future For the Krogan, Mars, Rannoch, I Was Lost Without You, the EC Normandy rememberance piece (not on the ST, sadly) and the EC epilogue pieces for Control and Synthesis (which is ironic, since "my" ending is Destroy, lol). Overall, I think it's a stronger OST than ME1, but ME1's is much more complete and has more iconic pieces like the Mass Effect main theme, the end theme, Spectre Induction, Noveria, Virmire Ride, Normandy, and of course, "M4, Pt II."
Overall, ME2 >> ME1 > ME3 for me. Personally, why I put ME3 at the bottom of the list even though I think it has a stronger emotional showing than ME1 is because of two pieces: Leaving Earth and the Catalyst's "theme" thing. I hate Leaving Earth with a passion, I feel the piano is too harsh and it never conveyed a sense of loss to me. It always just got on my nerves. Even when everyone was going nuts about it when the demo leaked I didn't like it. It's probably the only piece in the trilogy that I dislike almost to the point of hate. To me, it doesn't feel like a ME piece, and it grates on me. But that is just my personal opinion.
Edit: Now, Leaving Earth is a big base for Malukah's "Reignite," and I love that song. I like the melody just fine, but I think it's too harsh in the first half. Even the latter half with more strings was a bit crass, but it is much better than the first half.
