Hello everyone,

I just finished the OC as a wizard. I'm somewhat dissapointed in the class tbh. I loved it in BG and NWN, very versatile and great at bending the rules. But it seems to me that there is little point to versatility when most of the more subtle spells are not nearly as effective as just plain nuking with some of the really strong spells. Seems to me that, besides the skill points, a sorcerer could do the same, but without having a few wasted spell slots every time.

So I was looking at something along the lines of this : http://nwn2db.com/build/?644
I might be wrong, but looks to me that a bard in NWN2 is closest to versatility and utility of a wizard in BG. Any thoughts?

I would also really appreciate some heavy RP modules I could go through with this new character before I take him to the expansions.

Thanks in advance!

Nuking works in some modules (and sorcs are better at that), the OC being one of them, but not in all.

So the wizard is still the master of bending the rules and versatility in nwn2? Any experience with the bard? Tried it out once in NWN2, but I wasn't convinced after the first few levels. Could be because I built him as a straight up caster :/

And concerning the sorcerer, it looks like resting in MotB is more limited. Considering there are only that many useful spells, I'm having a hard time finding the edge over a sorc on my wizard (granted the prestige arcane scholar class is a major plus combined with some more spells and so are skill points)

edit : thanks for the modules list, didn't notice it :)

Which class is the "master of bending the rules and versatility" is a question I doubt I can answer.

Wizards are maybe not so god-like as they were in BG2, but yeah, if played smartly, they can quickly turn a battle in their favor. If you want to play a controller wizard type (the type that guide is about), you better let the rest of the party do most of the killing, though.

So it depends on your playstyle, but it's true that the OC doesn't require too much smart play and a nuker can work, and even be faster. It also depends on how good you are at managing memorized spells. Then there's EK if you want a warrior/mage hybrid...

Bards are very good and one of the most versatile classes. Play them as spellswords and not pure casters. This is pretty good for the OC.

A general advice I can give is to use buffs. It depends on the characters in the party, but buffing up the party and then attacking on melee is usually a simple and effective strategy.

If you have more questions about classes and mechanics, I suggest asking on the forum linked on my sig.

I guess I'll give some of the control spells and AOE spells with extra effects mentioned in that guide an other try. Just felt more trouble than it was worth to line up those AOEs without hitting my party.

Will mix it up with pure damage for solo play, but great guide nonetheless. Difficulty is not a problem btw, playing on hardcore with a mod for more HP mobs in the expansion atm. So it's more a question of style :)

That guide helped out a lot with picking some more control-type spells!

Much obliged Arkalezth ^^
